Our basic idea of which we have been actively working for several years now and the last 2017 with maximum intensity, was to create a currency that will come from the people and it will be for the people. Simple and functional.

With this in mind, we tried to create a currency that will satisfy the needs of all users and the whole community associated with the Balkancoin. Not even once we thought about profit to be our main goal, but like our many successful projects, always the main goal is the best user experience.

We think in general that money should never be a cause, but a consequence of the hard work and the quality of the project.

This idea will be our guide for the realization of the project.
  
We have no illusions that Balkancoin is a unique currency in its nature, it is neither the best currency in the world, nor do we want to compete with all the other more than a thousand currencies that currently exist and perhaps will be many more in the future. In its purpose, application and use of the Balkancoin doesn't differ from any other currency.
 
And why would it differ? When an idea (blockchain technology and Bitcoin as its first and most popular child) which basically is genius, is realized almost perfectly, a real demagogy would be to claim that our currency is unique (and which statement is not missing in almost any other cryptocurrencies).

Our main goal is to develop at least some awareness to people for decentralized thinking, to escape the control clamps, to take responsibilities for their actions, and at least in this world to feel free and uncontrolled by anyone.

What is the pool for a coin? Will there be an airdrop or a bounty? I love stacking, but I need more information from the developer.

Look into the explorers from block 1. People learned about this coin from website, facebook, some discord channels. Yesterday network was upgraded to the last version and we posted announcement to this forum also. Till yesterday there were around 80 different mining addresses. Block time is 30 seconds in order to have fast transactions so block height advances fast.

The Balkancoin wasn't launched today. The Balkancoin was launched on 31.12.2017 at 21.30. But we should have released the bitcontalk.org at the same time? We had to test all the transactions with Balkancoin Wallet. We have now tested all the scenarios and that is why today was official announcement on bitcointalk.org because we assumed you would have remarks. We were mostly focused on technical point of view(nodes, explorers, pools, functionality) and now we can start working on social media marketing. As we already said couple of times, we want everyone to get involved in this project so we need help from the community in the area of marketing too.

Nice! The Windows based wallet app is solid. I tested the transfer of some coin to my friend and it worked amazingly fast and reliable.

I really do hope this coin makes it to the exchanges and grows as an example of how to properly support their users with good software wallet.

There's great support on Discord. There are wallets for different platforms, there is an exchange, there is a path. The community is growing.

No. Someone that was mining with rented hash decreased hash rate from mining with 130 KH/s to 50 KH/s.

Yes, you can rent cryptonight. When mining with 130 KH/s there were about 400 different IPs mining to get that hash. I guess it was hash power rented from NH.

No, this cannot be? I just saw the website come live again the other day. The blockchain remains active! I even donate some balkan coin from my tradeogre account to the donate link on the website! It's doing well! I see great potential here if only it found some leaders. The project is fully operational.

Balkancoin is clearly still an active project, perhaps a little shy, but there are nodes being added to the network. http://explorer.balkancoin.org/ the block explorer shows it is working just fine. I see people trading it at the market, more than 1 million coins bought in one sale on Tradeogre today, and I noticed additions being made to the website this week. I am confidence this project, and market, are becoming active again.
