Title: Microsoft stopped accepting payment by bitcoin
Post by: mymycenter on January 25, 2018, 06:03:36 PM
Since 2014, Microsoft has accepted bitcoin as a payment medium for the purchase of applications, games and other digital content from Windows, Xbox Games, Xbox Music or Xbox Video Stores.

However, Microsoft has recently decided to stop accepting payments by bitcoin on the grounds that the currency is too unstable. :(((

Its a really bad new, Im a fan of Microsoft and I always use Bitcoin to buy games from it :((

According to coindesk, Microsoft has already resumed the Bitcoin payment as an option, so don't worry:

At the end of last year, the mempool was full and fees were sky high, but it has been normalized already, fortunately. These kind of problems will be solved by the Lightning network in some time and if everything will work as expected, more and more merchants will accept bitcoin in the future.

That is good news Microsoft knows that they have consumer based using bitcoin, knowing how popular bitcoin in the gaming community they cannot just take away bitcoin, they should also accept other cryptocurrency with fast network or another bitcoin forked coin or other cryptocurrency.

The decision has already been reversed as mentioned by others. It has happened with other companies such as steam as well, it's inevitable that such a thing will happen when the fluctuations in the price are too high as well as the fees involved with bitcoin payments being too high. Managing volatility is one thing, managing volatility when you receive very few payments in bitcoin because the fees are too high is an entirely different thing.

I think he might have followed one social media that is late with updates.
This answers it all.
They have resumed it and I think I have seen it somewhere here with that update.

For the OP you might want to change the news that you are following or you are going to be late with the recent updates about cryptos.

Last time I saw that microsoft accepting bitcoin and now they stop again using it. I don't know what they are pointing of. Usually, the volatility of bitcoin is the reason why microsoft pulled out from it. Microsoft corporation do not want to lose more profits, and we all know that microsoft is a huge corporation. If they will continue in accessing with bitcoin definitely, if bitcoin will suddenly goes down there profits and even capital may loose.

Wait a minute I remember this news of Microsoft stopping to accept bitcoin payments at the beginning of the year then later on after 2 or so weeks restored this...i remember reading it on coindesk, thanks bitart for this link here https://www.coindesk.com/microsoft-resumes-bitcoin-payments-after-halt-over-instability/ so where exactly is Microsoft standing with the bitcoin issue?

I've found another link, it's Finder:
https://www.finder.com/microsoft-restores-bitcoin-payment-option (https://www.finder.com/microsoft-restores-bitcoin-payment-option)
So it seems it's solved and working fine again.
/OFF: Since yesterday, there's a Thank you button at the top right corner of the post, but it's called +Merit :)
@isaac_clarke22:
Microsoft is accepting bitcoin as a payment for a long time now, so if they just don't spend their bitcoins, they have already multiplied the value of it at least by 10 so this price fluctuation is not a big deal for them. It was the fees that caused problems for the small transactions, when the fees were skyrocketing. Now it seems we're fine with the fees (about 15-35 sat/B you can send a transaction and it will have confirmation really soon).

Most of the sites temporarily stopped accepting Bitcoin Because:
1. High fee. 2. Price fluctuation 3.long confirmed times.
The number of an unconfirmed transaction was 400,000.
last 3 days bitcoin network back normally and most of the sites will reapply bitcoin again.

they'll lose out in the long run
Do you think that Microsoft one of the biggest business around the world is going to lose just because they stopped accepting bitcoin? Lets be real they stopped because it does not make sense for them to accept a currency as expensive or as slow as bitcoin, besides they have already changed their decision and they will accept bitcoin again, also it is not like a lot of people are using their bitcoin as a currency.

Microsoft did reverse the decision and they are now once again accepting bitcoin as a payment. I can still see "redeem bitcoin" option on my account. Would have been better if steam also reversed their decision. Looks like Stripe will also end up supporting bitcoin after April :(

This one was a hard thing to stomach, but it’s understandable. Bitcoin fees have become too high and the need for the LN is more evident than ever. In all honestly I do fear a bit for Bitcoin in this situation. Bitcoins shortcomings are simply going to lead to other coins being seen as more efficient in payment system terms. However I still hold out hope that then LN makes major changes and the Bitcore team get their shit together!

Microsoft is a large technology giant company. We are expecting Microsoft support versus crypto money market. This decision is wrong, not fair. Microsoft urgently make an announcement.

Shut the fuck up, are you dumb? Do not you see that they can no longer accept payments in bitcoin for their tiny stuff on their marketplace?

You can not buy hardware with bitcoin in microsoft, you could only buy TSHIRTS, CD'S, SHIT, AND SO ON.. Why are you so ignorant?

AND IT WAS POSTED MORE THAN 20 DAYS AGO.

Yes now we surrender it, because microsoft company that belongs to someone else, so we can not arrange-ngaturnya. But actually the rise and fall of bitcoin prices that do not need to be an excuse, because it will not make the product to be cheap or expensive, but maybe the microsoft should more often update nominal price in accordance with the bitcoin price movements that occur.

I think you are very angry with this situation.
microsoft companies are afraid of losing if they receive bitcoin payments because bitcoin prices are unstable especially at the moment, bitcoin prices are currently down considerably.

Came to know that Microsoft stopped accepting bitcoin due to the high transaction fee and once again it has got resumed the bitcoin acceptance. Also the price fluctuations in such a large scale too might be a reason for the same. I believe after price stability they'll continue accepting bitcoin.
