To my mind recent updates will have positive effect only for high-ranked accounts in order to stay dominant, I am writing it though I am FullMember but I personally think that there are more negative sides of this new policy other than positive. What do you think guys?

One of the huge negative side will be that most people will stuck at the lower rank because not everyone is capable of making 'high quality post'

However this actually discourage people to spam for activity or account farming. Also at the same time discourage people to join signature campaign ( you get small amount of payment if your rank is low ) thus no more incentive to post means less spammy post in the forum

The biggest problem with the merit system is that it spawns a load of new threads. :)

Over 34 threads about the new system, in less than 24 hours (0.o)

This was very much necessary to fight against spam but there are some flaws in its implementation for sure.

1) No merits were given to Jr members.

2) Higher level members were favored. One with old account got lot of merits even if he had made lot of spammy posts. There should be a system like you have to get certain number of merits very year to maintain that rank.

There is nothing wrong with it,because there are a ton of account farmers trying to post gibberish and posts that makes no sense to the thread to increase their activity,glad that the admin implemented this as i have reported over 300 posts and threads and hopefully we wont see that many from now on.

What is the use of filling up pages and ruining the forum just for campaigns sake if they cannot make high quality post.

Does everyone have a notion that only by creating new threads they will be getting merits. ::)

People who started out initially with bitcoin had a very big advantage than the rest of the users,i am talking about prior 2011 ,is there a wrong in that  :P,this is a forum representing bitcoin and we need to find a balance to restrict the trash that is being dumped and hopefully this will solve that,you have to start somewhere and maintaining a certain number of merit to maintain your rank,what kind of solution is that. ;D :P

The subject of the forum is quite narrow compared to the amount of users it has. I think it will be very difficult for certain people to gain merrit even when they try to post something "good".
I'm sure there are better ways to get rid of bots and account farmers. Even fully automated....

I think most of the member who against in the new merit system open new thread to catch some attention since the main thread is over crowded of post and their concern are already ignored or not giving attention.

And for OP even your against in the new rules in the forum you should learn to embrace it or you leave that is only your option.

For me it's still to early to say that this system only benefits for high ranked accounts, all system is not perfect in the beginning and with the time goes on there will be more development, I think Theymos make a small step to fight spammers and we should appreciate and support it

Every thing that has a good purpose must sacrifice some things. Sometimes the impact will be negative for some people and for some people again then this can be said as a positive thing. Merit is currently in the usage stage to apply to this forum, I think a lot of positive values that we will achieve. It will not be seen any time soon, but I am sure it will be very useful for the future of this forum and also the world of crypto extensively.
