This is free, non-proprietary, and opensource. CoinChat is not.

I'll give it a try.  I really enjoyed the whiskchat client for coinchat. 

Would you really say a whole 20% cooler? That does sound good. open source is always nice to see.

WhiskChat Server is built around the client, making it whole.


Some may argue. It's probably in reality only about 5% cooler, but it's advertising.  :)

I hope that you can go on with this project...

But I have a question, would not be better to make an irc bot (a network of bots) that do the same things of coinchat/WhiskChat? (checking messages length, spamming ads an so on..)
Every irc channel admin will want one!

Nice that you ask that - I once actually made a bot to give out free mBTC, but the IRC channel #bitcoin rejected it, saying it would encourage spam. :\

Maybe you should advertise it a bit more, as you did with WhiskChat.
You can even try to find other interested developer if you open a discussion on "Project Development" :)

Actually, the first people to invent that were CoinAd (AFAIK) with their 25% chance in their chat room.
I then cloned that and made an IRC bot to do that, but nobody liked it :S
Months later, here comes TF with CoinChat, which starts out fun but then I get banned :P
And then I create WhiskChat, which turns out to be miles better than CoinChat, but no users use it.

The service seems slow, and I can't sign up.
I click the sign up button but nothing happen.

Try again now, and make sure your username is alphanumeric and between 3 and 16 chars, and your password is moderately long. Messages will be shown behind the login dialog, fyi.

It still doesn't do anything.
There aren't any error messages on the login dialog.

If you enter in details, click sign up, then click outside the login box, what does it say?

Nothing.

If I try to login, it obviously says "User does not exist."

Wait for that text to appear, then fill in ALL THE FIELDS and hit the red sign up button.

I tried again, both from firefox/chorme.
It doesn'r work and it doesn't show any messages.

There was (since dead) chat at coinvisitor.com, it was available around the same time as CoinAd's chat.

You should add an irc style list of users. It's really needed.

The idea of a chatroom where you are paid to chat is not new. It has existed before CoinAd and CoinChat.

I signed up, neat enough interface, don't really see the need for it though.
