Title: How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on Post by: philipk on July 12, 2011, 09:22:37 PM Hey everyone,
I've been trying to get the BitCoin client to work for a few hours now. It's been downloading all the blocks but seems to be sparatic. It will not download any for a long time and then add 500 all at once. I'm at 3200 now. How long did it take everyone else to get them all downloaded? Title: Re: How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on Post by: SgtSpike on July 12, 2011, 09:23:20 PM It took a good 12 hours for me. Sounds like you're getting sporadic connections to other nodes though. Hopefully they will solidify on their own in the not-too-distant future.

Title: Re: How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on Post by: philipk on July 12, 2011, 10:37:14 PM Thanks! only about 15,000 more to go.
So once I have all the blocks I have a chance of solving an equation to get 50BC? 1-2 hours lol? At the current rate the 15,000 blocks will take more like 15-30 hours. Hehe and to answer your question the most simple way.. No. To solve a block you must 'mine' for Bitcoins. A guide on getting started can be found here: http://bitclockers.com/forums/index.php?topic=3.0 |
