Title: How to stop trust abuse
Post by: 802529er on January 27, 2018, 03:02:47 PM
So I’ve seen some users are taking it upon themselves to issue negitive trust to whomever for whatever they deem fit.

Really quick and simple way to fight this.

Go to your trust settings.

Change your trust depth to 1.

The more people who change to trust depth 1, the less these people will be able to rule the forum the way they are now.

Yes they can leave negitive feedback, but if someone viewing your profile has their trust settings at 1, there’s very few people who can leave negitive feedback.

I can’t wait for this forum to die, with how much money they are sitting on youd think they would improve he website by now, not add some bs merit system

Yeah. Since only those with negative feedbacks from DT 1/2 would do this, its just basically those with negative trust seeing each other as neutral. Build your own trust system based on the people you trust. The personal trust system is meant for each individual to shape. Any trust rating should be considered by the individual.

Ironically, the merit system has improved the website tremendously. You sound pretty butthurt btw.

Butt hurt, Naah,

Slightly annoyed that I’ll need to buy an account now, enjoyed the fact I only had this one so far.

While the merit system might improve the website, hows that “beta” website that’s been in development for how long now? And it’s actually up and running, mind you it’s not looking like it’ll be ready anytime soon.

The only ones that have been doing this enmasse are those recently added to D2, while some of them have been accused of being openly racist towards certain ethnic groups, the owners of this website decided to become complicit in handing power over to them.

You just have to look at the daily traffic stats to see this sites dying and fast.

It’s the home of every scam that launches, the place people come to try to make a few dollars off a bounty’s

That's a good thing!  Less garbage to wade through looking for bitcoin information.   :)

You sure, this place seems intent on allowing garbage to continue, how many scamICOs or garbage posts make up this site, I think you’d be surprised if you peaked behind the curtains

More like the fires are running out of fuel.

Ships running out of steam?

How about this one.

There’s no more sheep to blindly lead off the cliff.

That ones really good.

Again, all good things.

Get rid of all the people just here to make money off signature campaigns.  It will reduce inflated forum advertising rates.  The forum will stop attracting scam ICOs because all the gullible fools will have left.  :)

Hmm you know that these fools you're talking about are 99% of this forum right!

That was the dilemma Theymos has been facing for a while. High traffic comes with spam, especially in forums, and we have seen that this forum was operating at a loss in previous years but in 2017 had a profit, and that profit was linked with the amount of spam.

If he took radical measures against spam, the forum could lose most of the traffic and others could take its place. He first created the two new non-signature boards. That was a very light measure, although it could be seen as a first step.

Then, after the DT upgrade of some members, something was needed to be done because Theymos thought of that system as a tool for prevent scams and fraud, but not shitposting. However, some members were massively giving negative trust to shitposters.

I don’t know why OP is so worried about the trust system now because the end of this story, the merit system, was the solution to that problem. So, if someone is a scammer, he will be negatively trusted but if he is just a shitposter, he won't be (at least he shouldn’t), but he won’t be able to rank up, either, because he won’t get enough merit, thus he won’t able to make money on this forum.

For me, the new system is a good idea, better than the non-signature boards. We will have to wait time to draw conclusions, though, but it seems to me that spam will be reduced, and traffic won’t be so hurt. Some people who weren’t making efforts to make good contributions, will make an effort now, some won’t because they can’t even if they try but the overall picture looks good to me.

Good thing that more people spot the abuse going on and daring to write about it. The idea is quite funny too. However the one's that need to change their trust depth are only the bounty managers. It is not really relevent whether non-bounty managers see if I have negative trust. At least this situation will go for most members I think.
