My analysis shows Bitcoin's price is at the bottom and my analysis also shows a rise is coming. I can't figure out how much the shift to alts will reduce the rocket fuel, but I do see a rise coming soon.

Anyone see the same?

Again, my charting shows we hit the bottom or at still at the bottom and the rise is next.

I think people will still be cautious.  As last time I think a lot of people lost money.  But I suppose if people buy at this minute they won't lose too much.  But it's not good to buy at the top of the price rise.

Since you have been around a long time, any thoughts on the target rise price? If the alts where not so popular, I would target about 13 to 18, but since they are, I'm thinking more 13 to 15 before any new fast rises.

It is starting to pump now and this is a good sign of a bullish pattern, well I hope it will continue now to pump. People who believe bitcoin is will enjoy great profit, and those who buy at a dump price made a right decision.

Yes, good point. Maybe that will reduce the speed of the rise, but there are a lot of people waiting to get back in, so a lot of fiat is sitting on the sidelines.

Basically, the price seems to have gone above the downward trend-line it has been following since 1/15/18. Breaking above that trend is a big shift. Also, my estimate is that on 1/21 the price fell below where the BTC price would have been had December not had such a crazy shot up. I now believe December was an outlier. So, if you remove December's crazy growth, we have now reached (1/21) and then gone under (1/22 to today) where BTC should have been had December not gone crazy.

My estimate of where it would be today, if not for December is 12,500. Since we are both under that line (below 12,500), and also now breaking the downward trend from the past several weeks in an upward manner, I think we have already hit the bottom.

If you don't throw out December, we are due for rise to 18K to 24K which is why you see that number a lot.

I'm doing things differently by suggesting December is an outlier. When you find an outlier in research, you should throw it out.

The December to now drop is 50% (almost). That's not normal for Bitcoin - clearly an outlier. If you remove December, we are right on track for where we should be today, just a little under which should mean growth is coming back soon.

Throw in that people are waiting to jump back in, and who knows where it rises to. But the clearest signs I see are we are at, or already hit the bottom, the floor.

I know I sound sure, but I'm new to charting, so I'm not sure. I'm good at research, but new to charting Bitcoin though I have followed the community for years.

after the central banksters are gone, bitcoin will be dumped by the market, because it has no social mission and no social meaning, the people simply dump it. why preserve this waste of electricity.

Well, first, it will be a very long time until central banks go away. That might never happen. Second, Bitcoin has no mission because it is not an organization. It's a tool. Why do people keep any tool? Because they are using it for something.

Bitcoin is the most supported cryptocurrency and has no risk of going away until it is first removed from the top spot. So, no need to fear until then. In my opinion.

Since it went to below 11k dollars I always thought that is the deepest of bitcoin.
Why? Before it rose to fast that is the price it have.
That is my only reason.
This is the bottom and I have that speculation too that is why my bitcoin will stay. Now, just waiting for the countdown to another rise.

Maybe we are in the dip because we are currently in January and we all know that people don't usually spend during January especially when they spent all their money during the Christmas season, I am sure that after January not only Bitcoins but the other Alt Coins are going to pick up since they were all in a free fall.

Bitcoin has value. It is the base currency paired with almost everything. It's like the USD, it's under most of the crypto world. Until that stops, it's going to stick around.

But I do agree that is has lost popularity towards the end of 2017. Mostly that is because of ICOs. You can't hold ICO tokens and Bitcoin if you are buying ICOs with that Bitcoin. But still, Bitcoin is the most common base coin out there. Until that changes, it sticks around as along as crypto sticks around, and I think crypto is the future.

Sure, that's all part of it too. I'm basing my analysis on the just the numbers, not the causes. The causes are really hard to track. But when you start to think about the causes, I do agree that Bitcoin grows, and so do many of the alts in 2018. The causes for the rise in 2017 are still there and are still gaining strength.

Well I believe thart Bitcoin was created by the central bankers as an experimental project before the release of the Fedcoin. And that is why the growth limits were included in the basic system. In view of this, it is unlikely that the bankers will go. In fact I believe that they are increasing their investment in Bitcoin to further restrict its use.

I agree with you. I think it rose too fast in December and now it corrected, but it corrected too far and will rise from here. It will probably go up and down as it rises, but overall, I think we hit the bottom.

You are giving them too much credit. Most times in life, people are not that well organized to pull of something of that size. It is far more likely Bitcoin was in fact started by one or two people, not through the secret organization of multiple countries' central banks. People are lot hard to organize than that.

Maybe you are asking when does the price go very high? Good question. My most conservative estimate is that by the end of February the price is around $14,000. But as we all know, that can change, a lot, and fast.

Thanks! Yes, I agree with you that the safe range is $10k TO $13k, although, I think we are likely holding above $11k, unless some really bad news comes out. You can't predict that. But unless there is some sudden bad news, I don't think a dip below $11k would last more than a few hours at most, if it happens at all.

I have a question about the $20K figure. I think you are considering December is part of the calculation, am I correct? So your charting includes December? I think you try some price predictions removing the December price rises and see when you think $20K is reasonable.

In my charts, I've tried to ignore December and I don't see Bitcoin going to $20K any time soon. But, you can't predict the good news that will arrive driving the price up.

I think the $10.000 price range has established itself as a very strong support. We will either climb from that and retest the 14~15ks or consolidate for a little while longer. BTC needs some good news coming its way though, it's been more than a month with nothing but FUD

Yes. Its like last year. One or two weeks it dropped then all of sudden it went boom! Now I think the rise is slowly happening.

Bitcoin is getting a good support at that price therefore we can see that it is the bottom of bitcoin. In fact the investors know about the importance of bitcoin and therefore they are not letting bitcoin go down anymore. Hope that that bitcoin price will start increasing its price in next few days and will continue increasing for long long time.

You are right about January. It has been a bad month for Bitcoin the past several years in a row.

I think it's really at a low price right now.
From the K chart of history, every February will start to rise again, so I think it might be a good time to buy BTC now. ;D

the shift to the altcoins happens all time every time bitcoin is stable like this meaning little change and only sideways instead of a clear rise or a clear drop.
and that money that went to altcoins is standing at the ready to come back.

The price of bitcoin is now well shown that you have fallen to 9,000 USD per 1 bitcoin now that its price is at 11,390 USD per 1 bitcoin for me it's a good sign that raises its price now. In all those years bitcoin price is very low in starting months like Jan and Feb, But at the end of the year it rise again.
I also think it price is going to reach 40000$ by the end of this year.

Hi there Forward_Thinking! I am also looking forward for the continues price increase of bitcoin. What hinders the price I think is the tons and tons of new unnecessary coins. However, there are coins that are promising and giving a good benefit but there are still some that just bubble and fade away. Looking at the chart it seems that when the price breaks below again by 9k it will continue to drop, but if the price hit 17k, it will continue to sky rocket again.  ;)

I don't see 9K at all likely. I think 11K is the bottom, and now it goes up. What makes you think 9K is possible? What chart are you looking at?

There are a ton of alts that are not needed and there will be many many more. This is just the start. I remember when there were less than 30. When we got more than 100 it seemed like there were tons. Now, wow...just going to get more and more.

So no more time to waste now and just action. If you want to miss the boat again  then just watch.

I think that bitcoin will soon rise from the very low and bitcoin will skyrocket and pump so the price will be high

Yes I believe same that bitcoin will rise very soon because the deep fall time will soon be over and the price of bitcoin will skyrocket any time soon, despite the fact that bitcoin is very volatile in nature one can still easily judge it movement considering it past success because as at this time last year bitcoin price was a little above $1000 and we saw what the price was as at the end of November-december it rise to up to $20k so I believe the price of bitcoin will rise soon.

The stagnancy of the bitcoin price is due to versatile factors. This covers different amendments in the regulations of Korea, China against the use of crypto currencies. They had major impact since they drive most of the volume into the crypto currency. After the event everything sank down to bottom.

Updated analysis...it looks to me like like 11600 (or around there) is the new floor. That is a very new pattern, so it's less stable than what I used above. But it also fits with my theory that we should be closer to 12500 today, and we are not there yet. For me...I want to see us breakthrough and hold above the 12500 line, which by the way, is at 12750 for February 1st (it is a rising slope).

Are you saying you think the price will continue to fall below the current levels? I don't think so. I think the overall falling pattern is over and has clearly been broken. I think we are now "over sold" meaning it is very likely the price rises in the near term. How high? I'm new to this and I feel like maybe I understand the falling prices, now I have to learn the rising price predictions. My estimates vary.

Today, I think we should be at 12,500, at least. Maybe if we break above that line we see a sharper rise. I can see reason to call for 13,000, 15,000, 18,000, and all the way up to 24,000 in the most extreme version of the next few weeks. 13,000 clearly seems the most reasonable. But I'm doing this a little differently than most, and most are expecting we rise to 18,000 to 20,000.

Nowadays Bitcoin price has become unpredictable. We can only guess depending hour past experience about increasing of bitcoin price. I invested in bitcoin on 17 December 2017.  Bitcoin price has been decreasing after that time. I am also waiting for increasing bitcoin price.  I believe the price will rise soon.  8)

Unfortunately, you bought in at a bad time. I've bought in many times over the years, including during December. I should have known better but the price seemed unstoppable. Now I know, don't buy after mid-November until sometimes in mid-January. The December to January time for Bitcoin is very dangerous. Probably best to sell in December and buy back in January. Well, now we all know for next time.

Unfortunately its true that bitcoin is in the bottom but it will raise up again soon that always happen. We all know that bitcoin can overcome the challenges as long as the people will continue its support in bitcoin. Bitcoin will rise up again and back to its higher prize because of the people that keep investing in it. Bitcoin have the ability to rise up and go back to it's higher prize when it's down just wait for a couple of days or weeks and it's slowly rise up again.

I look for at least 3 separate confirmations on my charts. Looking at the day chart l only have 1 at the present time, as long as the price doesn't drop today l would say the 2nd one looks like it will confirm tomorrow. I have two confirms on ETH , LTC and BCH.

Well that was a rough ride. I was not right about the trends. All my models were broken. Even this bounce, this is all an unusual pattern. I think the drop went too far, too fast, and that explains this current bounce.

In my experience, Bitcoin has always gone past its prior ATH. Just not sure how long we have to wait for that!

We're not at the bottom yet as we could see today. The price keeps on dropping. However, after tomorrow's hearing on cryptocurrencies the US authorities are having, we'll know whether we're at the bottom and will soon rise or not.

Bitcoin go back to its previous value of $6500 and I am worried it can still go down in coming days. I want to keep believing that this is temporary as bitcoin value always fluctuates, but seeing this tremendous drops makes me thinks that bitcoin can be gone in a matter of few days or it can go back to its very low price few years ago. Last year bitcoin price was 20k USD. At the beginning of this year prices have dropped a lot. We see, the price has started to rise again and has increased a lot. It will grow more soon.

Currently, Bitcoin price had performed a fast recovery from it's bear market where it had dipped as low as $6.7K USD in the past Q1 of 2018. Now it's price value is now at $9.8K USD which I think the bull market is starting to heat up and will continue further that may even reach up to $10.5K within the coming months.

Probably yes because bitcoin price is not stable we can't predict when bitcoin price will rise or going down but we don't to lose hope if the bitcoin price no is down beacause we never know when bitcoin price will going up

it seems that bitcoin is repeating same pattern as it was last year.. I mean now and whole summer the btc price will be somewhat stable in 10-15k corridor..
and in the end of the year we might to see same beautiful rally as it was late 2017..  but the end of this rally would be not the 20K but 35-45k ..  which would be just super good.

We are at the bottom of 1 month, I feel like a lot of people are still intrested in buying at those low prices, so I feel like this might be the bottom now. Of course there have been false bottoms before, so you can never be sure. But at the moment it looks somewhat stable at 8200. My guess would be it goes up soon. But I've been wrong before :D

yes i hope so, my prediction in end of Q2 or early of Q3 the price of bitcoin will rising up until the end of the year, and i think it will happen because i see the graphs of bitcoin last year and last 2 year, but it will changed if there are many fake news in the bitocin world, that makes user that hold bitcoin sell their bitcoin

Yes, although the price now is not quite high compared to its peak last December but it seems it would give us a certain surprise this coming months. Many prediction does give their idea that btc price would rise again this 2018 due to high number of new investor.

Nobody knows where the bottom is, too many factors can affect it. One thing's for sure, we've been trading relatively sideways for some time now and it's only a matter of time before bulls get back. Right now, the bears are still in control.

Hello there,  there are many things in this world undergone with the word change and they are because of somw factors that affects the whole of it. Many things are possibly help us now but for the time comes,  they can change in just a snap of a fingers. We can consider the things now but wait for its come back.

Bitcoin is starting to increase his value it is good news for us to gain high profit in our investment. After a long month dipper value, bitcoin now is rising and shine again and brings happiness and successful to all his investors.

I don't think the current bitcoin has come to the bottom. The market has not been adding too many new investors in the last few months, and there is no big consortium to buy bits of bitcoin, and the market will adjust for a long time, perhaps this year.

you cannot predict the price of bitcoin and cryptocurrency, it is too volatile.
for example now, yesterday bitcoin price was $8k, now it touched $7k.

I read some article and some investors and holders are saying the the rise will begin couple of monrhs and the dip will las more than a month so its better to hold or buy bitcoin today and wait for the rise soon to sell.

We should have realized that your purportion was right compared to the time of your thread, that Bitcoin had left that unfortunate Dip, and it is over time now steady. As at the moment, Bitcoin value stands at $8098.38, of which we are all still expecting its stability and volatility by the third quarter of this year to be as high as that $20, if not more than by then. Well at the end of the day we can't rely to any speculations and analysis since no one can actually predict what will happen, last month a lot of people strongly believe that bitcoin will not be able to reach its $8000 mark again and will finally reach $10000 but as seeing the market today its totally the opposite.

Bitcoin now spreading his value and soon it will be given a high profit, bitcoin is facing a challenged a dip value, but now bitcoin will rise and shine and give hope  to all his investors. Bitcoin always give a good profit.

According to my statistics concept bitcoin price is bottom now. But it will be rise as soon as possible to its own increasing. I think that the bitcoin price has a time period for the value pumping as it appears after a long time. The time period is so near to increase the value of the bitcoin. After a long time period the bitcoin price will be again high range at a time. Then it will be the gala day for the bitcoin lovers and belivers who works with it to earn it and make their future gain for their life lead. Yes, bitcoin is somehow at the bottom in the current situation and I believe that it will make a rise soon. Basically, what is happening could have been the adjustment period this time and due to it's resistance, it has not accelerated well in the crypto market. Well, after the correction of 65%, I don't see any practical reason for the price to fall any further. I believe that the correction has taught a good lesson to the investors involved in panic buying in last price rally. We might see some turbulence in the price but the market will remain bullish in the second half of this year. On the other hand, big whales and institutional investors will come back again to exploit the opportunity.

Bitcoins is showing a good progress towards the months and already survived the "crypto currency winter season" and now it is time to rise and shine again and show the whole world what Bitcoin can do and what the real Bitcoin is. There are some people that are speculating that the price of Bitcoin will rise to $30,000 US dollars and break its last highest record but I don't think this gonna happen, For me on my own opinion and point of view I think that Bitcoin will reach $15,000 US dollars to $17,000 US dollars before the end of the year. But it is much better that my speculation is wrong and bitcoin will break the $20,000 US dollars highest record. ;D

I'm afraid, $10k is a reasonable price level for BTC and it's not going to change any soon. Hope to see at least $12-13k by winter season

As of now the price of bitcoin is not yet high so that you should buy dip and I think the buying dip is now over because the price is keep on increasing and I hope it would continue on increasing.
