Title: Since bitcointalk is free to use, why the hate towards this new merit system?
Post by: Barcode_ on January 27, 2018, 05:28:07 PM
Since the launch of the new merit system, I have seen quite a number of high level members including senior and hero rank members giving out their feedback about this new merit system in place, as this system would make it harder for them to rank up.

I have decided to voice out my opinion too, since Bitcointalk is a forum that are free to use for everyone, I don't sense a need to complain about it as we are not being enforce to pay any money to use this wonderful forum for free, forum is a place where we get to interact with a lot of users with the same interest, and I am gaining a lot of knowledge from this forum regularly.

I believe every users on this forum will be able to rank up eventually at some point of time, it is just the effort we need to put in to make this forum a better place, thanks for reading.

Because signature campaign participants think they are entitled to it and are likewise entitled to getting promotions easily despite doing shitty work. Nothing more, nothing less.

Due to bounty campaigns people were just spamming posts. Since now they are required to post better posts in order to acquire merits (more work) i think people dont like this idea. But it will 100% help the forum improve its content.

We don't all want to rank up. Some of us hope that we can have our Bitcoin discussion forum back. But it looks as if there will need to be quite a bit of tuning to prevent parts of it from slipping further into the mire.

The good news is that posts on the serious discussion boards seem to be picking up.

We all are in the adjustment period towards the new merit system. Maybe a lot are still confused with how it goes, but the thing we have to understand the most is that this system encourages all of us to be constructive and helpful to the other members of this forum and not just post anything that is not of value (which I noticed most people are doing for the sake of earning). Maybe they hate the new system because it will hinder them from getting accepted in signature campaigns or achieving a higher rank for a bigger pay. Another possible reason is that maybe some users have been doing their part in this forum, being good members ever since they joined, posting constructively but still remains unrecognized due to their low rank. I hope that with the new system, everybody will give their effort on posting so that we all can be truly deserving of our merits or pays. Let's all remember that nothing worth having comes easy.

Being free is what has made it easy to abuse, now it's up to 49 (theymos's friends and their friends) to read thousands of posts every day or every week.
Now you have to live up to their standards, if you are a shill for a coin they have invested, you have quality posts. over time you'll only post what they like and you will become their bitches.
Me and my terrorist buddies will continue selling Bitcoin and buying gold to build a nuclear arsenal to end the world.
(note, do some reading, you'll find that ever since Bitcoin has dropped, gold has increased).

This is on point, the only one who contradicts the new merit system are the following, shitposters, spammers and account farmers. They usually join signature campaign yet they are not doing effort for their work and getting paid for their shittyass post that dont contribute anything to this forum.

If someone was tricking a system and the system owner fixed some loopholes, it will disappoint that person for sure. I think that we may see reduced activity on this forum in coming months but quality of posts is expected to be better.

This. People got used to being able to easily and lazily earn money here for writing utter shit and now a spanner has been thrown in the works of that and people are understandably irate because their money making scheme has been severely restricted and now they're going to actually have to put some effort in.

I still think it would be worthwhile introducing some more donator ranks so people can buy the privilege of a higher rank without having to waste time just trying to collect merit just for the sake of ot. At least putting some monetary value behind their account will likely make them take better care of it and the money earned could be put to good use to fund other worthwhile projects.
