Title: GPU Overclock Failure Buy Using Stock Cards
Post by: Bnmakr1 on January 27, 2018, 05:57:34 PM
Hey,

I’m fairly new to mining.  I have 4 GTX 1060’s and 2 GTX 1080’s. I was having no problems running 4 1060’s and 1 1080, but when I added a new 1080 I’ve been getting GPU overclock errors. All of my cards are stock.  I’m wondering what could the problem be? I tried using google but couldn’t find an answer.

Try changing the settings in Afterburner on the problematic graphics card. I have so stock 1070ti constantly switched off the miner. Lowered the power limit, increased power clock and memory clock. Works steadily for more than six months. If I return the default settings again stops working miner.

What makes you say that you are getting GPU overclock errors? Can you copy/paste and post the error messages here?

One thing to note is that not all GPUs are created equal. You might have the same model, brand, or manufacturer but the maximum overclock or hash rate can still vary. I would try restoring the overclock settings to default then slowly increment from there.

Have you update your bios mb ?
Sometimes new update bios needed to configure the gpu to work properly.
Or maybe your mb reach the limits of gpu detected at same type. I mean e.g. if you use 8 x pcie with all of it, you must at least 6 gpu same type and 2 gpu different type. That's for better configure.
Sorry i am newbie at mining too, but what my friend said like that :)

Where did you see the errors? is it in the miner?

Adding 1 GPU requires also additional power, ensure that your current PSU could handle it

check also the riser, as it maybe one of the culprits
