Title: Looking to Join a Mining Pool...
Post by: The Extreme on August 29, 2013, 08:07:19 AM
I apologize upfront if there has been lots of discussion on this.

I am looking to get into Bitcoin mining and want some suggestions on what pool I should join.
If you like the pool you are with, I'd very much like to hear about your experiences.

I'm not thinking ill make a ton of coins - but I'd like to mine a few. I'm not opposed to a pool with a fee - quite the opposite, actually, as that guarantees funds for a stable pool to keep things running.

Your ideas/feedback are appreciated! Thanks!

BTCguild is the biggest and probably the best supported. It is also easy to use. Personally, i like Slush Pool. I think i read that it was the first pool. But if you are one of those people who have to understand every block payout, you'll probably find Slush confusing and be frustrated. If you trust the computer to do what computers do best, Slush is fine. These are the only two i have experience with.

BTCguild is the biggest and probably the best supported.

go for a smaller one, we need lots of medium sized pools, not a single behemoth.

there are several pools around 5-20 TH/s that need to grow and balance those big ones.

P2Pool - run by folks like me, who believe Bitcoins should stay decentralised.   ;)

You can even spread your hashing power between a couple of pools reducing your variance!
