Title: KNC Miner - Mercury device - which PSU are you guys planning to use?
Post by: lateblooming on August 29, 2013, 02:20:51 PM
They say it needs 250W...but do you guys prefer a 400-500W PSU or should a 300W PSU really be enough?
Thanks i.A. for any thoughts/suggestions!

Well you have to have PCI-E, and PSUs are primailey aimed at GPUs, of which few, if any low wattage PSUs have a PCI-E as most GPUs are 300W+, then typically PC's have the motherbard and other components to power...

@keenan84
Thanks for the Info!

@Bitcoinorama
Do I need a PC/Motherborad for that device?? I thought a PSU would be it to get that device running...maybe plug in to a PC via USB for modulate/tune something...but thought its a standalone device? Or maybe my english was to bad to understand what you are saying ;-)

Noo, what I mean is that traditionally PSUs with PCI-E are for powering graphics cards AND motherboards, thus it's hard to find a PCI-E equipt PSU under 500W. ;)
