Title: How safe is this technique for Wallet Post by: nickmayhem on January 28, 2018, 10:57:00 AM Hello,
I have a laptop that I connected to my router via WiFi. I installed MetaMask on it and created new address. I saved my Seed words onto a paper and stored that in safe. Exported my private key and also noted that down. Now that laptop is disconnected from internet. I usually work from my PC and won't be starting that laptop anytime soon. (6 months or 1 year and it won't be connected to the internet) Now can I use this ETH address safely? Thanks. Not using this particular laptop for daily stuff is also a good idea. If the laptop was clean (and your Wifi also - I would recommend using a cable connection, not the wifi) at the point you've done all this then you should be good to go! If you have some ETH or some token you want to hold longtime you may create a second wallet (also with that laptop) and keep the wallet in a safe place and only depositing token and ETH on it. So you can use the other wallet for daily use, trading, etc. Title: Re: How safe is this technique for Wallet Post by: nickmayhem on January 28, 2018, 11:14:52 AM Thanks a lot for taking time to answer it.
Yes laptop was clean install brand new OS. The WiFi is clean because I live in a place surrounded by n00bs ;D I don't think anyone is interested in my Wifi access over here. Thanks. |
