I am still new in this and i want to learn more about it. I just want to asked what is merit and trust for? How can i earn merit and trust and where can i get it? Are merits and trusts important here?

Trust can be obtain once you made a good deal like escrowing. They will give you feedbacks  and good trust.
Merits can be obtain if members like what you have posted, you will see a merit on the right side thats the button for us to give merits to constructive posters.

You can get merits through quality posts but not all posts will be merited as per the current situation,because there are only 49 merit sources so it is hard for them to see you quality posts.
So you can collect 10 quality posts of yourself and post it on meta section then they will give merit if it is quality enough.

Trust can be obtained through trading,managing campaign but never ask anyone for trust feedbacks it is against the forum rule.

Merit was introduced to reduce the number of shit postings and the account level farming going on in the forum. The the more active and constructive your posts are the more they will be merited. Trust on the other hand speaks for itself. The better trust you have the more trusted you will be on the forum. Just go along with the flow of the forum and eventually you will be trusted and merited. Don't beg for it whatsoever

Merit is used for the low ranks to encourage them posts in high quality but its also applicable to the high ranks. If someone found your post to be informative, you will earn it.
Trust is used to give feed back if trade is successful or a member is a scammer.
Trust and merit are earned so yes they are both important.

To get Merit you should improve your post quality and if anyone find out your post is good enough and helpful they'll give merit for your post :).

Beside if you want to get positive trust I think you should be a truthworthy member in this forum, fight against cheater using alt account, scammer, ponzi,....and help people solving there problem, I think it's the best way to get positive trust and when you get green trust you'll get merit much easier then normal :D

Owh,sorry for that.I thought we have to collect our posts then post on meta section to get merits.But it is to become the merits sources and then we have to find the quality post of someother as well,because that is the main job of merit source.Find quality posts and merit them.

Bro most of the signature campaigns not accepting the post making on the meta section. Then how the members who is working in the campaigns will be comfortable in that. Merit source people are on the march to come here. Then we all people have to depend on them I think in future.
The merits we have now is the onetime set amount under our account. Hope as theymos expected everyone will distributed to the quality posts. I personally finds the coin analysis and technical related posts getting more merits than other posts.

Well basically your trust rating and merit points here are important first you cannot rank if you don't have merits, and for your trust rating you can't afford to get red trust because you will be judge easily if you have it, better to start posting a quality one for.

I have other questions about merit, if I meet the required activity for Hero Member which is 480 activity. Do I need to gain 250 merits by default or I really need to receive it from someone who likes to give me merits by doing quality posts?
What if I do not get any merits until I got 480 activity so this will conclude that I will be stuck in my rank as senior member?

Still, very confusing about it because already people who has negative trust need not bother about their merits, mostly people consider only trust score acquired by him.

Trust is given to someone when you have transactions with that person and if you have successfully transacted with him/her then you have the option to give him/her trust. It would be a reference then to other people if that person is trustworthy or not. The more trust you have then the more people would be willing to have transaction with you. Regarding merits, it is a newly implemented rule by the admin wherein you need a certain number of merits before you can rank up. You also need to get another 250 merits from someone or from the merit sources if you want to rank up to hero member otherwise you will be stay at the current rank if you not able to get that 250 merits.And it is going to be very hard to get that atleast you need another 6 months even if you are quality poster.

You are right,if you can't get you cant rank up that i the beauty of the new ranking system and it is going to restrict the account farmers and shitposters from ranking up.But it is going to get hard the merits because there are only small amount of merit sources available now.But maybe we have changes in the merit requirements to rank up in the future said by theymos.

For merit there is only one way - be constructive and be helpful.
If you repeat what others already said probably no one will send you merit.
On trust it depends. You will be negative tagged for scamming, cheating, spreading malware and all other unethical behavior. You have to deserve green trust because it means people can trust you.

Just do constructive and high quality post everytime. If some members like what you have said or if your post helped them a lot, they can give you merits. Its like helping other people  by providing good quality post

Exactly it is like higher the quality higher the chances of getting merit. And this merit will now be required and useful for moving up the ladder to success. By success I mean to move rank up in this forum. This will also help you to get the good rates when you join any of the signature or bounty campaign and would be paid accordingly. So keep improving and keep learning so that the quality will keep improving for those whose first language is not English.

To get merits you need to post good quality posts in a healthy discussion don't post a quality post in a 10 page thread because people may already found the solution for it you just goin to repeat the things which may already told.
To get trust you need to be a trader in this forum if some of the DT members have faith on your trustworthy then leave positive feedbacks about you.

For the updated rules and requirements in this forum Merits and trust are the most important aspects that you need in order for you rank and have a lot of privileges in different ways
I may say Merits are Important because
- It will tell once users how valued and useful  their posts are
- I helps avoid and lessen the spammers and shitposters
- It will be a big aspect in able to be  promoted or rank up
- It encourages user to make their post more value and usefull.

In terms of Trust I may say its important because
- It tells once user performance in terms of trading and posting
- serves as a Rating and review of a certain users , having a red trust means that person is untrusted/scammer and having a green trust means its a good and a trusted person.
 

This merit system is now where the attention of most users are in, some are begging that they cant ranked  because thier merit is not enough,  its now the front page news of this forum.

I do not know how to get merit. Maybe others will send you merit if they like. Trust will be there if you make a good deal. make others happy. They will give you blue credibility. If you are trying to scam you will get negative red

Members will give you merits if they like what you have been posted ,like contributing to the forum and making high quality post. Realtalk i dont like this merit system. Cause one day merit will be use to scam other members.

Trading merit should be avoided and most of forum users are against it. So dealing in any such kind of activity will only will get a negative rating. Also merit is not a trust rating.

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

that is problem of all member with rank. basically, it's unlucky for us, but it's also a good change, if we just only stay in bounty section, we never get merit for rank up, we must go out to learn things, contribute to this forum. Because, this forum don't has only bounty section maybe its a point the forum make a "merit".. hope the founder can change the rules about merit.

We are same in experience for getting merit. As you are seeing now, many explanation about merit. Merit will become a new ways for leveling members up. I am very agree about it. Now just make best, contructive, and not spammng every your posting. Really it is transparant for being successfully work.

You can get merit by posting high quality posts , if someone likes the post you have posted they might give you merit.

Its so important to rank up and if you want to be accounted with your post that's a way to give reward for people who are contributing valuable post through the entire forum. And member will be a peanut to you once you starting to post valuable and informative things that are helping others to gain knowledge or help them with their problems, you can surely be there.

Merits and trust are really different things. Lets talk about merits which these things are needed for you to level up or ranked up your account. (Merit+Potential Activity= Ranked up) they do have significant requirement on each rank.You can find a thread regarding on certain level requirements. Talking about trust this is a system on where you can see how a user is trust-able enough into this community.

If you wanted to earned high numbers of merit you just need to work hard, don't post shitty. Make your post or topic you've been opened have sense, because if the other people not attract to your post instead of merit you earn, maybe it turns to red trust. In addition merit system is hard, so don't be cheat if you don't want to banned in the future.

Now almost all members problems is that they already reach thier complete activity but cannot rank up because thier merit is not enough. Even you posted constructive and high quality post but they dont like to give you merit theres nothing you can do

merits will just come to you as long as you post a good quality post or highly contructive one but also make sure that you dont post in a spam mega threads or on the threads that is easy to answer becauase your post will just end up getting burried without anyone noticing it because of the good number of spammers that will spam that thread. You can check other ideas and strategies on how to gain more merrit on the meta section.

Those people that will recognize your post and find it amazing and helpful on their part can say that you had contributed a quality post on their part. But you're right that even you'll post high quality one it doesn't mean that you'll get merit automatically. Wait for others to recognize it and you'll earn it later on.
Take it as a challenge, I know that you are quite stuck at member rank for few months but don't think that you'll stay there forever. You can do it mate cheer up!

With qualities posts you are sure of getting merit and if this has not happen then i believe many have not understood the merit system and how it works.
However many are not using the merit system and we should encourage them to used it. I love this merit system and the way it works and help to keep the forum save.

You definitely need another 250 merits to rank up even if you have 1000 activities. I don't know how you are going to make it but it is simple, keep writing quality posts here and some of them will get merited but not all. It's just the same as a whale upvoting your post on steemit.

Because of this issue, newly joined members cannot rank up, join signature campaign and receive the stakes that they deserved according to their true rank. Here is my 3 cents worth, the bitcointalk mods should introduce merit for Members and above as most of the signature campaign is for Jn Member and above while the remaining minority accepts only Member and above.

Merit is a system of promoting or employing a person by giving merit to those who deserves it on the basis of ability, that you might be obtain here in this forum by making a constructive and realistic post that can be helpful to someone. And yes this is very important for everyone here in this forum, specially for those who want to level up their ranks to earn more money, because they can't level up their rank until they reach the required merit for their next rank level.

Trust is BIG word. We cannot just get trust by writing, we will show to them in action and in words to gain there trust.

Will agree with your words since newbie got less attention by the people and even high rank member struggles to earn merits since mostly the one mostly given with that benifits are those people who known on this furom.

Merits has been colored with certain politics that's why people who are unknown struggles to get it.

True, there are lots unmerited members and I think posting in correct boards where many members with merits are is the way, but I am not that kind of person to search trough forum and stalk others for merit so I guess we are in the same shoes, it is just you are member and I am senior member.
Others are sending merits to their alt accounts, I don't think anyone of us will reach higher ranks in next few years  ;D

Merit is been use to measure your post quality there is nothing alone with the use of it bro. Every trusted campaign managers like yahoo, atriz, woshib and wapintar. Always read the post history what are all the section they were mostly getting into and replies for the appropriate queries.
These are the things has been checked by the manager bro. So no always relay merit and go in the bad way.
If someone likes your reply you may get the merit. Trust has been shown under your profile, If DT member touched your profile when suspecting you are doing scam or illegal activities. Other than that you will be safe with the 0 trust as well.

with the existence of trust and merit, it will be easier and free to follow all there is no prohibition. you can get merit and trust with the honesty while playing without any cheating.

Yes true to get the trust we have to post a quality, which is not a scam and there must be a positive transaction in a good forum outside forum as well as local forums

Trust and merit both are very important things on this forum. Trust will help you to get big deals like escrowing or as Bounty manager and merit helps to rank up your account it means if you have enough activity but not enough merits then your account can't achieve higher rank. For smerits you have to make some constructive posts.And for trust you have to need positive feedback and it comes from dealing with people's.

it's not strange as there are a lot of users abusing the forum just to earn from spamming bounty campaigns by making a lot of accounts, it made the ranking system become hard but the quality of the posts being done is getting better ever since the merit system is made.

Getting merit depends on the quality posts that have useful information for other members. I think the trust itself is not very functional, sometimes there is a trust is also not a problem participate signature campaign and there is even a bounty manager who got red trust is also still trusted hold the project.

The trust in bitcointalk forum is an additional score of points that describes position in relation to each other between this form, if you have no trust and you are in neutral state, it is also well. yes i am also very confused in terms of getting merit. how many quality posts I do I never get merit, because people are also very saving their merit either for different id for whatever! I do not know. which is very easy to get merit is to bounty manager or dev, but to be dev or bounty manager we also have to have trust and trust also difficult to get

May I know how do you categorize the quality and non quality posts mate. If you think number of lines is quality post that is not that one, if you think the well known answer repeated in the different thread means that is also not quality post dude.

You must make the post the thread as prior you can with the best assistance reply and then you have to make the post in the technical related query. These are options for making the merits from it bro. Please do not worry for the posts you have already done with the quality mate.

yes in this platform merit are very important for you to be upgraded to the next level. now for you to get merit it depends on how you responds to massages in this forum or your contributions that matters alot, then secondly for trust if you have handle any project before and delivers without anything or error whereas being kind to people and responding to personal massages will make you get positive trust. in simple text trust is your efficiency and ability for you to make something real and not scamming or running away with people's money.
so all this qualities,  this will make you possess positive trust. whereas wen you made away people's money or being rude to people and not responding to personal massages will make you gain negative trust and this negative trust serves as untrust worthy etc.
so anything you are doing try to avoid negative trust because this can prevent you from participating in some activities whereby people will be afraid of you as fraudulent man.

You can get trust from another member when handling a campaign with a position or trading. You can earn merit from another member with merit if they have smerit(sendable merit) available to give but of course there is a requirement on earning merit by creating a good quality, constructive post that is not out of topic which help you earn. Once you have merit you could also send merit to other user.    You can do whatever you want with your merits, but Meta section becoming flooded with crap topics like this. I stopped visiting Bitcoin and Altcoin discussion sections and now Meta is looking similar to them. It is a great board to see other's opinion on how to improve this forum, some people come up with brilliant ideas. But nobody will see it if most of the topics are similar to one I'm replying to.

as far as I know merit is very important to raise the rank, and also merit did not add automatically like post activity, acquisition of merit can be obtained from qualified and constructive post, so that others can be interested for what you have post, and they can also give merit them because of your interesting posts, usually provide trading information, bounty tips, and others.

sadmaster is an example of the worst of the spammers. A useless post, that takes up a few screens to display tired old information that we've seen many times before. I've put him on ignore, and I'd like to issue a plea to all the other juniors - please take this as an example of an annoying and redundant post, that will reduce the posters chance of receiving merits to avoid the rbnking block.

Hear, hear.  What makes it particularly nauseating to me is that stupid infographic with the anime in it.  For some reason those characters are jarring to look at in the context of the merit system (and I can't stand anime anyway). 

That bozo is going on my extensive ignore list.  At this point, that information is everywhere in Meta and doesn't need to be regurgitated in a not-so-thinly disguised attempt to earn merit.  Nor does this question of how to earn merit need to be asked anymore.  The main problem is simply that people don't read anything.  They'd rather just start a new thread asking how to get merit/trust and how to rank up, and they completely miss that the answers to those questions are right under their noses.

I also check mostly merit is given by good posts but its very hard to check which topics are good enough for having merit because I am also newbie and want to take some merit but until now have nothing hut hoping for have some in future as its very early for me to understand this all here on this forum
