Title: Change PCIe from gen3 to gen1
Post by: hivemindtoday on January 29, 2018, 12:29:06 AM
I have a Gigabyte X299 AORUS Ultra Gaming. the Bios looks very different from what I am used to. Do I have to change this option to improve rig performance or this motherboard will chose it automatically?

If you are running Windows, then putting the PCIe slots on Gen 1 is usually a good idea if you plan on expanding beyond 2-3 GPUs.  For Linux, they tend to prefer the "auto" setting on PCIe slots.

These aren't universal truths, as it really depends on the motherboard... but it's a good place to start.

It's there.  I had to poke around a lot to find it on my MSI.  One reason I never throw away the MB book.

Same reason I never throw away Google ;) ... I do like keeping the paper manuals though.

Most of the manuals can be found online.  I still keep the paper ones though.

Download the PDF and search from Adobe Reader ... Not sure if you're searching the entire document or just the current displayed page from the online version on that site.

Or better yet, go to the Gigabyte site and find the manual there.
