I have a gtx 1080 with 8GB ram, mining equihash got 5xxsol/s. When I look at afterburner, it shows that only 1 GB ram using, whille 1080 has 8GB. So, 7GB ram are just sitting there... My MSI Gamixg X 1080 easily gets 575-585 H/s at 75% Power Limit with Temp Limit 83C, Core +185 MHz Memory +1000 MHz in Afterburner. I can get it over 600 H/s if I increase the power limit.
