Title: how to get the most from equihash mining on gtx 1080 8GB?
Post by: icehouse on January 30, 2018, 03:30:58 PM
Hi All,

I have a gtx 1080 with 8GB ram, mining equihash got 5xxsol/s.

When I look at afterburner, it shows that only 1 GB ram using,
whille 1080 has 8GB. So, 7GB ram are just sitting there...

Just wondering, is there anyway to to utilize the 7GB ram and
get the most from the gtx 1080?

Thanks alot

it must be showing incorrect info
gtx 1080 can do around 500 sol/s at max
you can get a few more hashes with overclock but thats it

Memory utilization is not as important for Equihash because is a core dependent algorithm. My MSI Gamixg X 1080 easily gets 575-585 H/s at 75% Power Limit with Temp Limit 83C, Core +185 MHz Memory +1000 MHz in Afterburner. I can get it over 600 H/s if I increase the power limit.
