Title: Facebook bans Crypto Ads - Bitcoin Falls
Post by: shamzblueworld on January 31, 2018, 05:28:06 AM
So as you might have already heard, Facebook has taken a step against crypto ads asking people to participate in ICOs etc. And in the same time, bitcoin value has experienced quite a significant fall.
Is this bitcoin value fall an affect of this ban by FB?
It may not be the only reason but I would say it will surely have some impact on crypt market cap and ICOs as well.

Facebook says the ban applies to all electronic money-related ads, including the sale of bitcoin diggers.
Facebook prohibits ads related to electronic money, ICO

The world's largest social network Facebook has announced the ban on ads related to the number because of the belief that these content is often confusing or fraudulent.

Although bitcoin has experienced a steep decline, from the beginning of 2017 to now, the price of electronic money has increased 10 times. However, the rise of bitcoin also makes many people doubt and fear of fraud. The US Securities and Exchange Commission recently frozen the assets of an $ 600 million ICO deal.

A spokesman for Facebook said the ban applies to all electronic money-related ads, including the sale of bitcoin digging equipment.

"We want people to continue exploring and learning new products and services through Facebook without risking fraud," said Rob Leathern, product manager for Facebook. Now many companies that advertise on binary options, ICO or electronic money are not very transparent. We will try to review such ads and then block them on the social networking sites of the company. like Facebook, Audience Network or Instagram.

I don't think this will have any real impact. And the reason bitcoin fell today  was probably more due to the investigation into tether and bitfinex. Also, South Korea (a huge part of trading volume) banned anonymous trading today. So that probably had a big effect too.

Bitcoin fall may not be related to that, it has got to do nothing with the bitcoin. The ICO is completely different thing and bitcoin is different. What getting advertised is the different projects of ICO an dtheir features to attract many people around the globe considering that Facebook has reached to each and every corner of the world.

If ICO advertises has dropped significantly on the Facebook platform then I’m pretty sure it should affect them as well as ETH currency. On the matter, ETH is the majorly accepted currency when we invest money into ICO projects. So major drop should be seen in the eth market and not the bitcoin market at all.

The ban on bitcoin by facebook will somewhere affect bitcoin investors. Many people find using Facebook more easy and feasible and at the same time they use to do their bitcoin investments and online businesses. So people doing bitcoin digging on fb will be affected to a great extent by this ban. Also it may affect bitcoin value.

This particular ban by facebook is obviously impacting bitcoin and the entire crypto market in a negative, but this is simply a short term thing and I believe that the entire market will be bullish in the coming few weeks which is the sole reason why I am HODLING all my coins(bitcoins and altcoins). No number of bans can stop the king of the crypto market from falling in the long term based on past history.

I feel sad that programs like Bitconnect lending program etc are actually popping up regularly these days which tarnish the crypto market and lead to these kind of bans which is why investors need to avoid such programmes.

Definitely a contributing factor in the recent price decline of Bitcoin. As more and more ICOs have emerged to be scams in recent times, it becomes hard to invest as nobody can be sure if fundraisers are legit or not.
The move by Facebook to completely ban ICO related ads comes as a welcome move as it is a platform with high exposure potential and they do not want their users to be victims of scams.

I think the issue here is that, ICO will no longer be able to get more money for their project.
Well, I think it is not good for those who advertise ICO to gain a bounty.

Facebook ads is one of the best advertisement that is used by the ICO to gain money for their project, without this, ICO will loss more opportunity to grow,
Well, the good thing here is that fraud ICO will also not be able to make a profit.

I think that's not the one factor why bitcoin is so dump now, there are too many reason not that the only thing banning bitcoin by facebook.
Remember that Chinese new year was almost there maybe that also the one factor why bitcoin in dip now, frankly speaking we all both know that no body knows what's the main reason of dumping bitcoin now so let's hope and pray that by next month it was fully recovered.

Yes if they are banning in ads of ICO's project in Facebook the first crypto currency will affected is ethereum not bitcoin.

it is perfectly understandable that Facebook banned these advertisements, specially the ones involving ICOs because they are illegal at heart and the way of raising funds through an initial coin offering has never been a legal method. not to mention all the scams that are happening through these!

Quote

no it has nothing to do with that. nobody cares when a platform like FB changes their advertising rules!
the recent drop was purely market manipulation and FUD.

I think this is not the reason of Bitcoin's fall. Banning of ads is not that big to give an impact to the fall. The real deal in this one is the usd tether. I'm not having much idea regarding this topic but I believe according to my colleagues this is the main reason of the fall. This took place at bitfinex I think? This is really bad look for btc right now.

I don't the banning of Facebook of ICO ads affect the price of Bitcoin. Banning ICO on facebook means that now ICO will be having a hard time promoting to social media. ICOs are the ones affected here not the price of bitcoin.
IMO.

I agree with some compliments here they just want to protect investors of some fraudulent Ico and i think one reason they ban ICO's ads because facebook will create New Token but the sad news here is there's a big impact on price action of bitcoin.

I think Facebook as a whole is just taking steps to ensure that their site does not become a den in which some illegal activity might seep through. I have heard some rumors that some ads with bitcoin or other cryptocurrency coins are being set up by some people who make people invest on it and then one way or another uses the money invested to
Install a ponzi scheme.

No, facebook decision regarding banned advertisement for cryptos has nothing to do with the drop in bitcoin value, besides even before any announcement of facebook the value of bitcoin already dropping continuously. But I'm kinda sure this happenings can have a negative impact with regards to popularity of bitcoin as much as we want to tell people the good things behind cryptos thru social media, we are now prevented in doing so.

The ban in facebook crypto ads has a temporrary effect in bitcoin. We know that facebook is one of the lagest social media,so it will limit the advetisement about bitcoin that affect the growth of bitcoin in terms of popularity and demand. So,i think bitcoin price also affected but i know it is just temporrary. After a weeks it will go back to normal again to bitcoin community.

i was confused with this news because just recently I have seen a news clipping or article that Facebook is considering bitcoin and other cryptocurrency into their system and now this? They are now looking into banning ads related to cryptos. I see that they are only protecting the interest of users from fraudulent icos.. But I hope that they will be more Open mined about this. Cryptos are the thing now.

facebook is after the protection of its users and the company itself. So from the time being let us give fb a chance to sift through everything and giving us the best that they can give.

But because of many fuds such as these, made it harder for bitcoin to recover. Thus after the ban, Facebook issued over ads of Crypto Ads a lot of effects could be seen over the Bitcoin trading. After all, it was this social media that made these cryptocurrencies known to all.

No worries guys, This kind of act from facebook wouldn't affect the crypto currency market even they ban all the ads of bitcoin or crypto currency related ads. Facebook may be the biggest names when it comes to social media but it has no impact on the crypto market. There are rumors that facebook is planning to make their own crypto currency for their platform and I think it is connected to the banning of crypto ads.

Yes, Facebook has banned the promotion of cryptocurrency starting January 30, 2018. Because users have complained about cryptocurrency ads are more spam and fraud. Some people use facebook to do the deceptive work to benefit. Facebook launched this policy may reduce the number of participants in the ICO. But I think price bitcoin will not be much affected this policy of facebook. Many communication channels to promote cryptocurrency.

Facebook is starting to respond to ads that are too much in the social media. Maybe it's an action that the app they create is not too many ads. Because I think many ads are less good to look at. But if it is true they will clean the ad. I think that's a stupid thing, a lot of people are going to leave Facebook. They just have to tighten advertising there. it will not matter, because there are still many other social media that allow crypto and other advertising

Facebook is already regulating the advertisement of Bitcoin or any other ICO and cryptocurrency. It is taking an action since there are a lot of ICO scams nowadays. I believe Facebook is just doing the right thing since its only banning those risky and suspicious ICOs. Facebook is still allowing the ads for Bitcoin and other coins as long as they are legit and doesn't violate their policy on advertisement.

ne of the factors that caused bitcoin prices to fall in early 2018 was due to facebook, which issued a ban on bitcoin ads, banning the promotion of ICO programs. This causes the bitcoin prices to fall. But today the bitcoin price has risen to nearly $ 12,000. Facebook has issued a ban, will not be affected much bitcoin price. I think the bitcoin price will continue to increase in the future.

Bitcoin is all about the virtual presence and the same makes it speculative. Facebook banning ads of cryptocurrency related projects made lead to a sudden drop in value of bitcoin together with majority of the altcoins. Now too there are more ads getting promoted through social media which are highly legitimate.

Facebook didn't ban crypto ads they just stop promoting the crypto currency ads through paid promotion and it made lot of panic around the investors and leads to price fall but that is not the main factor of price fall other factors also caused this such as regulations by many countries.
But I don't think bitcoin value largely affected by the bitcoin ban because bitcoin is already known all around the world and no one is promoting bitcoin through paid promotions. But the newly launched ICOs maybe affected little bit but not a significant level because still they can run facebook campaign to advertise around the facebook.

Yes, I do hear that Facebook already banned bitcoin because it is against crypto ads especially to other ICOs. There are lots of Facebook users worldwide and I know that it helps a lot to advertise and endorse a certain crypto coin or tokens and because of that, it also affects other ICO's and bitcoin. Facebook is banning all ads promoting cryptocurrencies — including bitcoin and ICOs

No advertiser will be able to promote things like bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings — ICOs for short — or binary options.
That also means that "crypto-genius" James Altucher, whose ads have appeared all over the internet and have become a meme of sorts for the entire crypto industry, won't be able to advertise on Facebook.
Ads that violate the company's new policy will be banned on Facebook's core app

As stated in the message in the official Facebook blog, the company will not allow the publication of advertisements of "financial products and services that are often associated with misleading or deceptive promotion methods."

So as you might have already heard, Facebook has taken a step against crypto ads asking people to participate in ICOs etc. And in the same time, bitcoin value has experienced quite a significant fall.
Is this bitcoin value fall an affect of this ban by FB?
It may not be the only reason but I would say it will surely have some impact on crypt market cap and ICOs as well.
facebook is one of the way the way to spread crypto but if this true still there's a lot of ways to spread and it so popular here in forum,i think if we can't spread the knowledge about crypto in facebook like if we don't have choice then accept that and continue spread this in some ways like in real world because we can't see this digital currency so it's more good to spread this like person to person talk

You can't really say that Bitcoin has taken a fall just because of Facebook's decision.  Did it play a reason into the decline, it's most certainly possible.
But Facebook (regardless how popular and powerful it is) does not control the crypto market.
More like speculation and rumors and of course there is always inside information leaked, but it's not 100% because of a social media platform.

No, I don't believe the recent fall has anything to do with facebook. There are tons of misleading and scammy things going on in the crypto space, so I believe banning those ads is good.

I think this is just a move aimed at relieving Facebook of the stress involved in the cryptocurrency market. I also know Facebook is researching crypto for Facebook itself so I believe that Facebook's ban on crypto promotion is temporary.

Since facebook is one of the most popular sites in the internet. The fact that he denied bitcoin and refused its use, would affect investors , and therefore bitcoin value. These actions made it lose some credibility, ,some face. That what caused its value to fall. Let s just hope it doesn't fall again and that other sites don't follow facebook path.

Well already many people have said the Facebook ban on crypto promotion is don't linked with Bitcoin's crash. But how bounty-hunter I would like to know if FB's ban is only for  ICO pages promotion and also those who promote it? because till here I haven't any issue with my profile.  :D

I think FB banning will not affect the Bitcoin and Altcoins current performance because there are still lot of ways to promote these coins like using twitter, youtube, medium, signature campaign, bitcoin news sites and many more but now all ICO can use the FB advertising service again as long they will pay for it. So still money is the real reason of FB banning the ICO.

It’s a necessary step that is being taken by many social media platform and also Google has done the same think. Social media are banning the ads of the ICO’s and stopping them from being promoted just because according to government, the ICO’s are highly risky and most of them are scam nowadays.

So to protect people from losing their investments, this step is being taken by platforms that display ads and have significant traffic. So, that might be the reason for today’s dip in market. It should recover soon though.

I don't think this will have any real impact. And the reason bitcoin fell today  was probably more due to the investigation into tether and bitfinex. Also, South Korea (a huge part of trading volume) banned anonymous trading today. So that probably had a big effect too.
Yeah, that can be true. Today’s dip in market must have been due to south Korean government taking actions against anonymous exchanges and banning them.

This surely must have reduced the trade volume and must have forced people to cash out their money from the exchange leading to drop in total market capitalization.

Also, I heard some news about tether that it is freezing and blocking tether addresses. So people should stay away from tether and use fiat currencies if possible.

Indeed now facebook has banned ads related to crypto, but I think that does not really impact on bitcoin prices, there may be other things that make bitcoin prices are now starting to fall again, because no one knows for sure why bitcoin prices are now down again.

Today so much FUD news, BTC down so much!
Hope we can stay still through all of this things
Don’t worry, these things wont affect the market in a major way. One day or the other this was gonna happen. We live in countries that have certain rules and regulation. As crypto currencies and its exchanges are being regulated and anonymous exchanges are being banned, it will just affect market for a short period of time till people transfer their funds to some other exchange and reinvest in the coins. Soon the market will recover and see bullish trend after all regulations have been applied and all the FUD is over about crypto market.
