Title: both sides about merit
Post by: Aristus on January 31, 2018, 02:06:55 PM
Both pro and anti merit has a point in other aspects for their opinion about it.

Does merit is really the answer to stop the farming and spam messages?
If not, then what is the best solution that can offer by the anti merit to stop the spam and farming accounts?
Every against for the new order should have a better solution that can suggest which is better than this not just simply saying against it.

There could have been various other possible solutions:

1) Increasing the activity for different ranks.

2) Appointing more moderators and banning members with huge number of shit posts.

I am sure that the admin has chosen merit system after considering all other options. We should give it some time and see its effects. It is too soon to judge its effectiveness.

The answer is yes, merit system is a way to reduce, lessen, or stop account farming, bounty farming and spam/shitposting. Because by merit system we are encouraging ourselves to become constructive posters, to improve our posts to earn some merits to rank up.

Merit is the biggest spam topic we have had for a long time. :)

Since merit system is newly implemented it will become a focus for a week or so because there are still some people who complain about it, and there are also who dont know about it either so after a month maybe merit topics will be reduced dramatically.

The merit system has both good and bad sides. The new system avoids spamming and farming accounts. It stops users from posting non-sense on the forum, people will avoid posting unrelated posts on topics, and people will try harder to make constructive posts. However, the bad side of the merit system is that, giving merits to other users would make you a suspect for having an alt account, only few members get merit because some people are not even willing to merit posts that deserve it. Some people would still abuse this system by selling out their send able merits. Will take you a lot of time before ranking (especially those who are just a week away before this was implemented.)

Of course, each new system has it's own ups and downs, let's just see as time passes by how people will adopt on it and how will the officers adjust the new system to make it more effective.
