USB Pricing Structure

Yxt has set the pricing structure here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246020.msg3052519#msg3052519
Block Erupter USB Price : 0.219 BTC
The order handling fee is 0.07 BTC
The current shipping price is: 0.17 BTC (may change, so check before paying)

For example:

for 1 units; (1*0.219) + 0.07 + 0.17 = 0.459 BTC
for 2 units; (2*0.219) + 0.07 + 0.17 = 0.678 BTC
for 3 units; (3*0.219) + 0.07 + 0.17 = 0.897 BTC

If you want 10 units or more, you need to add an extra 0.07 BTC to the order, to cover the extra insurance and shipping costs. If you want more than 25 units, please contact me first.

Blade Pricing Structure (old model)

Yxt price structure : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246020.msg3052612#msg3052612
Block Erupter Blade : 4.895 BTC
The order handling fee is 0.07 BTC
The current shipping price is: 0.23 BTC (may change, so check before paying)

For example:

for 1 units; (1*4.895) + 0.07 + 0.23 = 5.195 BTC
for 2 units; (2*4.895) + 0.07 + 0.23 = 10.09 BTC
for 3 units; (3*4.895) + 0.07 + 0.23 = 14.985 BTC

If you want 3 blades or more please check with me first as you will need to add extra for shipping costs.

Wow. The Erupters have sure taken a price drop. I'm guessing the network hash rate had a helping hand.

I'll run some number and see if I can afford it this month. Will keep you updated.

Great job as usual OutCast3k!

1 Blade paid - 2f5425d0ee1b55498af693968a7a6869cf483219e062fe52468cdd4f7bc1d35d

What's the ETA on the blade?  Just so I know how long I have to figure out an explanation for the missus.  :-[

Bonus is, my old 30A 12V PSU works - must be from the mid-70s, Grandpa used it to run his HAM radio rig.  New fan required, but it's working like a champ.

Hah :) Its hard to say, I know YXT is expecting a shipment of some Blades from Friedcat any day now, and then shipments from YXT usually takes a 3-4 days before I receive them, so I would say around 7-10 days or so, hopefully less. I'll ask him for a slightly better now ETA and get back to you.

Thank you
with me by 11am - hashing away now (more glowing trust left)

No more USB's for me now as all hubs, ports now full.

So onto blades....
Before ordering one

I've read that I need :-
--> Stratum proxy
--> Butchered PSu and paper clips?? (this concerns me)
--> Volt meter

Have any of you Ladies / Gents got any "BONE" instructions please?

so if it needs a stratum proxy doesnt that mean you need to run it with a hostcomputer??
or does it mean once you set it up you can shutdown your computer?

You could mine with getwork - but (I'm not sure if this is *true*)
Most home networks are nat'ed behind 1 IP address and stratum is more efficient in those situations with multiple clients
Less stales (pls correct me if i'm wrong)

I'm going to see if I can run the proxy on the same machine my USB's are plugged into
Sadly it's Ubuntu 12.04 on a super crap laptop and it took me forever to get cgminer working
(In fact it took me forever to Ubuntu working lol, but i've sold all my GPU's and don't want to power up my old WIN 7 rigs)

The shorting of the PSU seems straight forward - BUT A PAPER CLIP! in this day and age....
The wire splitting and overvolting requires a shade more research on my behalf, before I'll even attempt it.

There are cheap enough molex bridging tools on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATX-PSU-Bridging-Tool-24-Pin-Turns-PSU-on-without-Motherboard-/190791414522?pt=UK_Computing_Water_Cooling&hash=item2c6c0df2fa

There's still some pools that work with getwork - Eligius and BTCGuild both still have getwork servers.  The stratum proxy is simple to run however.

I'm planning on running my Blade mining towards the stratum proxy running on my home server (it's on 24/7 so no big fuss there), and the backup pool on the Blade will be going towards either Eligius or BTCGuild's getwork server.

As for PSU, I'm currently running an old 30A 12V bench supply (the type used by HAM radio and CB Radio folks).  It's not very efficient (big old transformer), but it was free.  I'm currently running the fans and USB hub for the Block Erupters off it, and it's running at a little over 2A load.   The fan in it is on a thermostat, so it's starting and stopping every few minutes, which means I might end up going the ATX PSU route.

If you run Linux, you can also point the Blade to the getwork server built in to the latest version of BFGMiner - one program could run your USB sticks, Blade, GPUs, etc.

Thank you, I'll look into BFGminer then, hopefully there's a Get-App version that just installs lol
I'm not a Linux aficionado, it was just decent option to squeeze some life out of an old laptop - so far, so good.
(sold all my GPU's, too much heat, noise and hassle...)

You need BFGMiner 3.2.0 for the getwork server, so I think you'll probably have to .git and compile.  I'm a serious linux n00b too, so don't ask me how. :)

The USBs are in stock and can go out the door today.

Yes, still waiting for a delivery from YXT. Last time I spoke with him he was still waiting on delivery for the blades - I believe they was waiting to leave customs, but I'll ask him for another update now.

I know he is fairly limited in stock, so...

if you want a blade you should hurry!

Hard to say, I'll probably receive them in 2-4 working days, then ship them on the same day - fingers crossed.

According to royal mail they can ship to Dublin within 24 hours but its at a premium (about 0.45 btc) drop me a PM if you're interested.

Just a thought, do these blades need setting up out of the box, like making sure the voltage is correct?

No problems if it does, just wondering if i need to grab the multimeter out the car :).

OK so another big rise in difficulty, but on the other hand, more funds available. So do I order one of the 'old' blades, or wait for the 'new'? Or go for something else?

'New' may be a bit cheaper, but not available until perhaps next week. CanaryInTheMine expects his to arrive on Friday. Seems more robust using only one PCB. Has a golden finger connector at the base, but I don't think I'll be getting more than one.

'Old' available now. Overclockable. Has anyone here overclocked their board? Does it work as expected?

Or put the money towards more hashing power in the BitFury group buy where 5BTC would get ~25Gh/s, but not until the end of October, by which time difficulty will probably be double today's figure?

Today I'm leaning toward getting my hands on something ASAP...

Any thoughts?

Tough call...

Its pretty easy to over clock the older blades, and being able to get them sooner and hashing faster is a nice bonus, not only that but I believe you can only get a back pane for the new blades if you order 6-10 of them, but don't quote me on that yet - I need to double check with yxt and try and get a price for it.

Is the additional postage refund enough to cover 1 miner, if not how much extra would cover the addition of one more USB miner ?

(Hope I have enough USB ports) :-)

I just ripped the PSU out of the carcass of my last GPU miner (GPUs sold on eBay yesterday).  The PSU will be running the Blades, the USB hubs for the Erupters, and the little Celeron 847 machine that runs the whole lot.  With 800W to spare, probably.  :P

There is good news and bad news.

The good news is, I received all the USBs and they have been shipped, the bad news is I didn't receive, nor ship the blades. Tracking would suggest that I would receive them tomorrow - I will ship them tomorrow also.

(Due to the quantity I was receiving, the order was sent to myself in 3 separate parcels)

Any idea of lower prices after the announcement?

We are glad to announce that we decided to continue distributing more Block Erupter USBs
as a limitation-free extension of the coupon plan in the last two months. Besides for mining alone,
at the coupon price level they serve perfectly as gifts as well as mining introduction devices.

Spec: Rated speed 336MHash/s.
Powered by the USB port without any other power source.
Electricity consumption as low as 2.5watts.

Price from us: 50-1999: 0.12BTC each.
                   2000+: 0.10BTC each.
Removed former 1:1 limitation on coupons.

If you bought from the following resellers, please consult them with details accordingly.
    US: eleuthria, CanaryInTheMine, SilentSonicBoom
    Canada: teek
EU, Switzerland and North Europe: yxt
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau: rockxie
    Australia: leotreasure@gmail.com

Former warranty conditions still hold. 2% extra non-warranty units will still also be included in our parcel.

Might be worth making a collection (Group Buy) to try and get a 2000+ order in (£8 each), 100GH/s for £2,400 (not including the Hubs) (335Mh/s * 300units)

is that price good for 100GH/s ?   what kind of daily return would that hashrate achieve ?

Title: Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and Blades #6

Assuming your only costs were electricity and the miners...

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/f94ea953c6

So you would get a ROI, but only £500 (the $ price is set to £ price), but then you need to find tons of hubs for less than £500 to make any money back.

Still, winter is coming and if you set it up right, you can make a nice heating system :P.

Also, i'd be up for getting to the 2k mark :).

Title: Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and Blades #6
Post by: crhys on September 10, 2013, 09:03:09 PM

Ahhhh So if the 50x Hubs (decent Dlink 3A) cost £1000 the system will not ROI (Unless the value of BTC increases significantly)

So the only way to make money with 300 USB Erupters is to sell them on ebay....

Title: Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and Blades #6
Post by: Pieh0 on September 10, 2013, 09:21:14 PM
Or, if you have the rework station and the skills, take the asic's off, make your own mega blade :P.

Thing is with these miners, as has been said before, they aren't for serious mining, so being able to make your money back on them with the new price is a nice bonus.

I have some red ones from the earlier batches. I don't care about the colour so I'm prepared to swap as long as I don't lose any hashing time.

Voltage is set low on them.  Got both mine running, cobbled up on bits of foam and fans just sat on them.  Going to let them run as-is until the difficulty goes up, so I can get maximum mining without any downtime. :)

For wiring, I used a 6-pin PCI-E extension lead, cut off one end, soldered the three wires together, job done. :)

I hate Phoenix connectors, have a load of stuff in work that use the smaller versions, and they're a fiddle.  :-\

Nope, I'm currently just running mine through stratum_proxy on my server, going out to Eligius.  I have a second instance of stratum_Proxy (on a different port) on the server going to BTCGuild.  Both work OK.

They're in the format   username:password,username:password

First username and password for first pool, etc.

Not a firewall issue is it? Blocking the ports out?

Can you ping that pool from your machine?

Does it accept your connection if you telnet to the pools host/port from your machine acting as the proxy?

can someone post a working download link for the stratum miner. thanks

https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy

Quote
Installation on Windows

1, Download official Windows binaries (EXE) from https://mining.bitcoin.cz/media/download/mining_proxy.exe
2, Open downloaded file. It will open console window. Using default settings, proxy connects to Slush's pool interface
3, If you want to connect to another pool or change other proxy settings, type "mining_proxy.exe --help" in console window.

I suspect its not the software (mining_proxy.exe), its probably the operating system or network, lol. Have you thought about trying it on another machine quickly?

What happens if you load command.com and use telnet to connect to the pool from your machine running the proxy, does the pool accept the connection, or refuse it?

Are you 100% sure your username/password are correct (they're case sensitive etc)

My 1000W PSU doesn't like running two blades overclocked.  I think it's something to do with the power rail distribution.  One blade is working off a heap of crap old OCZ 500W.

Yeah, now running one blade per shitty OCZ PSU - thankfully I have two.

Got them running at ~12.5GH/s @ 1.15v so far so good. Ordered a decent PSU (Corsair Builder CX 750W), hopefully that'll do the job OK. :D

What happened to your 30A PSU, that's what mine are running off at the moment, and after a quick trip to maplin to get a new fan for it, its working well :).

I might end up using the old 30A machine, I don't know.  My head is fried with it, it's working at the moment, so I'm just going to leave it alone for tonight.  Been at it since this morning.  :-\

Thanks. :)  I was being careful with what cables I was using going by the label on the PSU.  It was giving trouble it seems, it was powering my last GPU miner machine, which wasn't the most stable.  I just stripped the machine last week.  Seems it was that PSU.

Just finished stripping molex power cables to attach to all the blocks

I'm gonna use ocz 1250 zx series to power 9 boards.
Any one think I could run 15 of them. I gotta spare 650 watt psu laying around Giving out a total of 65 amps

Got both Blades, and 10 Erupters, plus fan controller with 4 fans running off the old 30A supply.  Drawing 21A@12v.  Annoyingly, it's drawing over 500W from the mains, and emitting a ridiculous amount of heat.  These old bench supplies are NOT efficient in any way.

Will definitely be switching over to a decent, working ATX PSU ASAP.
