Hi,

The thread speaks for itself.

Apologies if others feel I am ostracising them.

I'm from the UK (and always happy to buy BTC by UK bank transfer or cheque, at a few percent above the highest MtGox bid).

Cool! That's a few people, but few enough!

Maybe we should set up an exchange for GBP orders of BitCoin.

What goods and services to the British folk offer?

Also, with inspiration from Nefario's idea, if we organise ourselves into networks we world-wide, we can provide currency exchanges throughout the globe! No need to go through rip-off foreign exchangers when you go on holiday!

We need an Exchange dealing in £££s.:)

Anyone know of one?

At the moment we seem to only have people who want to buy, so an exchange won't help much. I've done a few private transactions with other UK bitcoiners in the past, with good results.

I'm currently buying BTC at 20% above MtGox rates, for payment in GBP, if anyone is interested. The time, hassles and risk of going via LRUSD or using cash-in-the-mail exchanges makes the 20% difference worth it for me.

Hi,

I'm in Switzerland partnering up with btcex.com
I can add a GBP account for deposits and withdrawals.

Would there be an interest in that? My fees to add a currency are reasonable and would do it if there is an interest.

Cheers,

I think, as mentioned before, the problem is that most of the British people are wanting to buy BTC instead of sell it. This alone makes the demand higher.

Glad to know others are out there with the same problem.

As for an exchange, since MTGox is already very well established, it doesn't matter what exchange people use, it is going to be roughly around that price, and so the UK prices will be 'pegged' to the BTC price in dollars.

Did BitCoin explode in America significantly before anywhere else in the worlds? It just seems that most of the guys who have BitCoins are in America, the First Miners.

According to the country poll, The Americans made up 1/3 of the population.

I'm in the process of setting up a UK exchange, so no worries. Fees will be very low.

Should be opened within 10-15 days.

I need to pay 14 GBP to an account in Barclays bank.  Payment for computer equipment (I don't use VISA, Mastercard or PayPal more than I have to after the Wikileaks scandal.)  It would cost me a silly amount in fees to pay from my Norwegian account, and I wonder if someone in UK would be willing to make the payment for me for 28 BTC?  (That is 28 BTC at 0.5 GBP each.)  The offer is valid for 24 hours.  PM if interested.

Hey UK people, I need to buy some BTC in the next 10 days (to cover an option that I sold), and would like to pay by UK bank transfer. I'm prepared to pay £0.57 per bitcoin, which is well above the MtGox rate, for any quantity from 100 to 2000 bitcoins.

Anyone interested? Reply here or send me a PM.

Anyone here also trading on OTC? See you on IRC.

How about doing it the very very old fashioned way and trade at a City of London cafe?

I am in the UK. Also I am from the UK.

Hello!  ;D

I am trying to find ways I can add to the bitcoin economy.
Currently I am offering spare webhosting capacity - details here. (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3821.0)

I may be open to participating in UK oriented bitcoin collaborative projects, although I draw the line at sponsored morris dancing.

Britcoin worked for me. Just waiting on some more funds to arrive to convert into BTC!

Would be better if there were some competing ones!
