Any suggestions for coins that good to buy and hold for this year.

For me, promising coins are bancor, eos, status, iota, ripple and cappacity. I want to allocate cappacity, it is now very cheap, and the prospects are huge. An excellent platform for developing virtual reality products.

Bitcoin, bitcoin was is and will be always the best coin to hold.
On my days on this forum I've seen in other posts questions like yours, from years ago .. and the answer was always Bitcoin.
I know this may look like a lie, but is something you can see with a little research.

I think that it could be good idea to buy top-20 altcoins and hold for long term. It is altcoins that have realized its technology (at least partially) and have perspective future. Profit will not be so big but it will be stable.

I would choose NXT right now, platform ARDR Group and famous, hold for longterm.

There are number of coins which is worth holding but you need to buy it immediately before the value shoots up and I have listed few of them below and this is my suggestion you can do your research on these coins before investing.

ETH i'm 100% sure that it is good to buy and hold

Seconding this post.  Platforms are the way to go.  These are the coins that are shaping the market.

A safe choice would be ETH. Everything else took huge drops but eth held steady and only had minor drops. As of right now, it's still above $1k and rising. If you want something cheaper, get neo. ERC20 tokens, get omisego, oyster pearl and dragonchain. These are my picks. Do some research and watch some videos and then decide on your own. Welcome to the forum.

PIVX and DeepOnion for me. it has great community still at a low price you can buy more now and wait at least 2 years and it would be at a $100+ level.

It will be safe for you if you are choosing eth for your investment or holding. Because eth is the second to the valuable for now and this year i think eth will rise up until it can level us a btc. And thats why eth can give you a big profit while you choosing eth for your investment or to hold until  the end of 2018

Everyone is familiar with ethereum and I'm sure it's great if you want to invest in ethereum this year. I chose it because ethereum has wasted no time in establishing itself as the second largest digital currency over the past couple of years.

I think NEO is worth a look; and definitely ETH too. I am not sure about bitcoin I know it is still doing well but i just think there is a better chance with Altcoins.

At 0.11 BTC(current price of Ethereum) , Ethereum is already 65%~ of bitcoin's market cap , considering that there are 6x more Ethereum coins then bitcoin coins.
Do you think that Ethereum can pass bitcoin?
That's the question you should be asking yourself before investing in Ethereum as 30% rise against the bitcoin will make it's market cap to be worth the same as bitcoin.

I think this year is going to be the year of the anonymous cryptocurrencies, such as Monero and Dash, as regulators enter the free market and people will need to find some alternatives to escape from regulators.

I would definitely take a look at ethereum considering it is holding pretty good when everything goes down.

You could buy a lot of stuff depends on how confident you are in crypto. If you don't know anything I would say stick to the top 2 and only buy those. If you have some knowledge venture in the top 100 and only if you are a seasoned pro would I venture into alts outside that. Since your asking I would say stick to BTC and ETH those will be your best "guaranteed" bets ;).

It's hard to predict at current stage coz 99% of the coins have no use but trading, so I prefer to invest in btc and eth only.

I think ETH is the best coin in 2018, ETH is increasing now, and their speed is higher than bitcoin. Although ETH is lower than bitcoin, in the future I think it will equal or exceed bitcoin price. He only coin that worth my investment and hodl is Oyster Protocol PRL, because although it dipped hard since second week last month January, in behalf of the holders and investors of this coin, we are positive and believe that it will explode in the near future, if not today, not tomorrow, not next month but definitely not forever.
