I think this is a bad news of the bitcoin coming from Facebook's owners, which suggests that people are increasingly interested in digital bitcoin than the digital market and Crytocurrency. There are a lot of scams in the market, which is very dangerous for investors so in the long run, Fb owners will make the community safer when investing.

I do not think that there will be a complete ban on ICO in social networks. While Facebook and Instagram banned paid advertising ICO. But nobody forbids you to place advertising on your personal page.

There are many ways to advertise and ICO and Facebook is just one of them. This forum alone is already a good venue to advertise an ICO since the target market is already here, unlike social media, they have crawlers that detects what kind of sites you frequently visit so they can adjust the advertisement the show. Word of mouth is also a good idea to influence others to keep and hold those tokens.

I think Facebook and Instagram  social sites are stop the cryptocurrency advertisement. Because many shit coins are promoting the social sites so Facebook should regulate the ICOs.
I think know many ICOs are promoting in Twitter but this is temporary banning. The future Facebook also supporting to the upcoming ICOs.

I don't know exactly what you mean by your question. ICOs are not conducted within facebook or any other social media so how could they ban them? It was announced that facebook would ban all paid advertising for cryptocurrencies (which in turn includes ICOs) in order to protect their customers interests. This is obviously bad for crypto as it reduces the reach and exposure it can have. Facebook or Social media as a whole will never ban their customers from talking about cryptocurrencies, this goes against the whole premise of social media.

Social media is a place to express your opinions regarding anything. No one can ban your views in crypto unless they are violent or explicit. Crypto or ICO are nothing among both of them so there isn't even a slightest of possibility that such a thing would occur. But yes I have heard that facebook will reduce the amount of advertisements related to cryptocurrencies on the website and its obvious due to scams running all around.

Facebook has officially ban ICO or anything related to crypto advertisement. What will happen? Nothing, they can still promote their ICO to other social media sites, or even in other crypto related websites.

Mark Z. goals is to prevent facebook users from investing on ICO scams. But this is not a direct attack to bitcoin or crypto itself. I also don't think it will negatively affect the price as well. The current price dip has something to do with India's news that they are regulating crypto.

They've only banned paid adverts.

They won't ban fanpages for ICOs and other coins, because they haven't got the resources to filter their whole system (filtering the ad system is easier because the volume is lower).

Then there is the free speech angle - they won't censor that, because there is nothing yet illegal with issuing ICOs and new coins.

Really? Well, now I'm a bit confused about it, because that is what I have seen:

Quote
Facebook has said it will block any advertising promoting crypto-currency products and services.
Quote
Facebook urged users to report any ads the company's security measures missed.

So, aren't personal advertisements considered ads?
Let's say someone is promoting a Crypto-Currency link (ICO, Binary Options...) on his personal page, then someone comes and report it. Does Facebook consider the report legit?

Facebook is not exchange where BTC can be banned. It is a social media platform, so there is ques of banning ICO on Facebook. You can't stop anyone to share anything so this news does not make any sense.

Yes it is actually happened in washington facebook as I've saw in social midea. That facebook says all ads of ICO will be block or ban because of spreading the deceptive ads. Facebook banned it to avoid the scams.

I don't know what you're trying to say here because just know I posted couple ICO related links in my crypto page and I didn't see any such warning and links are posted successfully. I believe that on your personal page and through the personal message you can send whatever you want but they don't allow paid ICO to advertisements.

First of all people need to understand that facebook doesn't ban ICO ads they just stopped the paid promotions of ICO advertisements. But people still can write or share anything about ICO project,So there maybe no effect of the facebook campaigns they will continue to do their promotions on social media.

They censored my direct message. It would not send. While posting from one's own page, or sending a message to a friend, you should be able to send what ever you'd like but that is not the case at all.

Some of the Facebook officials have issued an informal statement, saying that They will scale down ICO and crypto-related advertisement on their platform as many of these ICO's are scams and their users had suffered a heavy loss because of it.
It does not mean that one can't create a page for its ICO popularity or users can't share a crypto related post. It is just FB will reduce their revenue from crypto related advertisement.

I don't think facebook will ban cryptocurrency generally. But it has already banned paid advertising related to cryptocurrency. It may ban pages of cryptocurrency in future. It's highly unlikely though.

I can confirm, binaries + cryptocurrency + ICO are banned from advertising on FB. However, your crypto page on FB will not get deleted. I just contacted them directly to get the confirmation for our FB business account.

I don't think that this will happen. For now many ICO do pay to have their project advertised on facebook.  If banning could really happen it could be a big loss for both sides.  In my point of view facebook will be the one to find ways to filter those illegible projects that resulted to scams and fail investment. It could be a big matter to be decided by facebook founders and for large investor of crypt.

What do you mean when you say "crypto banned in facebook"? They already banned adds, and they can't ban anything else since they never accepted crypto in the first place. Also, they seem to like crypto because they are considering getting into the market apparently. If you mean banning talks about crypto, then that is not possible of course, because it would be censoring content without a reason.

First, you should know the information when making such a conclusion. Facebook now prohibits placing ads related to cryptos, ICOs on their social networks, discussing cryptocurrencies and the ICO is still allowed, and Facebook can not ban it. The reason Facebook forbids it is that Lending models, as well as Ponzi, use Facebook to trick people who do not have knowledge about cryptos to invest, most mainstream ICOs do not use Facebook ads that create bounty campaigns to promote.

Social media has an important role in spreading information about crypto, people familiar with ICO and technology from social media.
It begins with curiosity, what is blockchain?
and I feel that, social media is indispensable.
If social media prohibits me believe there are still many ways to pass information about other media.

Advertising ICO on Facebook is already ban due to the many scams happened. People use Facebook to trick others and make them invest on their ICO. Due to have little knowledge about crypto, they might pursue the offer for them since they are new to this environment. Banning Facebook is not only for the safety of the investors but also for the ICO itself.

Which is already happened on facebook,i think they already blocks everything like advertising an ICO or anything related to it.If other would also ban cryptocurrency then IMO it would severely affect them.Social media is one of the good vessel for promoting and spreading facts about crypto currencies as it is the major platform that used by millions of people nationwide. However i don't think this will happen, maybe in some social media but not all of them and besides there are still other sites where crypto currencies are being tackled e.g. this forum.

Facebook as well as other social media sites helps an ICO and cryptos to be popular thru different advertisement and if they will prohibit this popularity might be impaired and might result for rmtge demand to drop. This can actually makes cryptos value to dump, but as I check a while ago facebook did not ban ICO already because I've just saw the advertisement of graft.

I think this act of Facebook management have brought negative impression to crypto users, this also had affect the price drop of bitcoin. But as what I've read Facebook bans only the btc ads but the fan page related to btc are still active and can be accessed.

It's true that facebook have  decided to put an end to btc ads that are misleading to people because they don't want their site to be a platform for scammers to profit. This happening might be one of the cause that bring the crypto hype to slow down and drop prices, however btc groups /fanpage are still active.

I don't think it will happen but in any case Facebook importance is on the decline anyway. Too regulated and controlled and not for the greater good of the members of which without them sees it ceasing to rake in the billions a year it currently does... all whist sharing none of this revenue with it's members for the content we create.
I am all for a crackdown on the crypto scams, fake profiles and straight out ponzi ICO's but the minute Facebook tries to silence it's ever growing crypto community, is the day it begins to have less importance to them. And we're seeing this already the case as millions of people have seen and take part daily in a better social community without the bs and all the limitations imposed by Mark Z. Also a Social Network with it's own Cryptocurrency Coin existing and operating right now which is very exciting especially as it addresses the 3rd and most important aspect of cryptocurrency that 1,400 other coins/tokens do not currently offer and that's including Bitcoin.
I guess we'll all watch this space as to what Facebook's next move will be but I know where I'm planning on spending more of my time, budget and promotion, fun and activity on, that is for sure!

Many of the big providers including Facebook, Google / YouTube are now banning adverts for ICOs, due to the many scams around, in the past and now. This is not entirely great news for legitimate operators of these social media channels, although in a way a blanket blocking is harsh but does prevent future losses. I have heard that in time some reputable providers will be allowed to advertise once again.

Right. And we can't blame them because of the rampant ico scam that victimized a lot of people and Facebook had been abuse by these and the least they can do is to ban it.
However, I still see some advertisement of projects but with just a full text only and don't have any pictures and maybe that's the new rule.

IMHO it will be hard to implement banning of crypto in bitcoin, everyone uses it as a way to promote, maybe they can remove those ads but there will still people who will use this medium to influence possible investors to make their ICO success.

I heard that news from one of my friend yesterday and I wondered that why the owner of facebook has banned it as there was a huge profit to him from these type of advertisement. I think he done a mistake in this decision as not all the crypto projects are scam. It is a bigger platform and they have to manage that field well. They have to manage in a way that they have to give chance to those projects for which they will be sure that they are legit. They have to investigate for them.

the news about bitcoin ads will be ban in facebook is a help for the investors , many ICO are be seeing in social media platform that has no good , as per my experience , i saw an ads on facebook and i only see it on that media , the bitconnect that has been said before that it is a scam .

Facebook are preventing ICO ads due to it can be a scam and since facebook is a large community of people it will reach everyone and that everyone can be a victim .

And in terms of the effect of it , i guess it will not effect any ICO , since there is still a youtube ads , many platform they can still used to advertise their ICO.
