Title: GPU miner using more power than expected.
Post by: mfrittman on February 01, 2018, 07:40:52 PM
Components:

GPU:
5x Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8 GB
1x Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8 GB

Board: Asrock H85 BTC pro R2.0

Processor: Xeon E3-1220L

Memory:
4 GB Hynix PC3-12800 DDR3

Risers: VICTONY 6-Pack PCI-E Riser 1x to 16x

Fan: Rosewill RCX-Z90-AL

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W 80+ Gold

SSD: Kingspec 90 GB

OS: Windows 10

I'm running the Pulse RX 580's at core: ~1440 MHz, and memory ~2150 MHz--no overvolting.  The Nitro is a slight bit higher, 1462/2196.

I'm running straight Ethash.  I'd like to do dual mining, but I'm thinking my power supply won't be able to handle it.

I've heard that such a system should run 1000 to 1200 watts.  I threw this system on an electricity usage meter and this system is running consistently above 1400 Watts.  Does this sound right to you all?
