You need to change this attitude. I remember someone gave a member negative trust for begging for merit. There is no easy or fast way to gain merits.  There is only one way  and it demands you to make quality posts here. you will get no merit and more likely a neg from actions like this..

Merit system is actually like a reflection, if  you're giving it a good attitude it will help you to earn sMerit but if you're disrespect it , a negative trust is properly waiting for you.

I hope here you mean disrespecting by abusing the merit system (like buying and selling merits). If someone has a difference of opinion about the merit system and expresses it, I do not think anyone should have a issue with it.

Merit is like behaving good with someone and in return he gives you the same response,the same is with the merit where a good post or positive posts will help you get positive merit and if the opposite happens i.e.you post nonsense or irrelevant to the topic it will give you negative merit.

You are right about the merit part but there is no such thing like negative merit for now.

Merit is a very good feature added to site. This would eliminate the account sellers, rushing a non sense posts for the sake of getting post count in a bounty. The idea is very similar to upvote karma of Steemit blogsite.

This is why people should treat this system seriously. This system was formed to bring back the forum to its optimal state where people can constructively share their opinions, ideas, and knowledge to help raise awareness or educate the other members. Treating it as a joke just goes to show what kind of member you are in this forum. I hope that sooner or later, people would start realizing the weight of this system and how it was established for the betterment of everyone and this forum. Nothing worth having comes easy, and that is one lesson that is enhanced with this system. The effectiveness of this system will highly depend on the members, so let's all make an effort to make this work and not just feel like everything should be just spoon fed and earned easily.

Both the points are actually contradictory. Second point means that you know that other members give merit points for posts which they like (and thus you are asking for one). And then in first post, you are asking about how can you get merits. The answer is simple and obvious. There is no other shortcut.

Not sure about the merit part but you became a good example of how get negative trust so fast. A good lesson for members thinking on the same line.

I'm surprised to see that DannyHamilton read your post, doesn't Dan ignore people with advertisements in their signature? (The hypocrisy of approach is so typical for such a high brow participant on this forum, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.)


It's hard to take any system on this forum seriously when the existing systems are abused by so many, particularly those that have been here the longest. Case in point is the rampant abuse of the trust system by long standing forum members.
