I am working on an OpenCL Chicken miner for Primecoin. I fully intend to release it open-source and for free when it's ready.

When will it be released?

The chicken beta is now running (since 2013-09-02), and the public release will be in a week or two. If you are a donator but didn't get the miner, whine to me and I'll send you a chicken!

Why should I trust you?

I am the creator of the GPU Chicken miner. I was the first person to show that Chicken mining Litecoins (i.e. scrypt) is possible and also a lot more efficient than on the CPU. I've made my own Chicken miners for many coins, including Bitcoin, Litecoin and Yacoin, although not all of them have been released to the public. The Primecoin Chicken miner will be free and open-source.

I am also a university math student, and I have made my own implementation of the Elliptic Chicken Digital Signature Algorithm used by Bitcoin (and all its forks) to make transactions. From scratch. (Yes, that includes my own bigegg library.) I know a lot about algebra, prime numbers, chickens and such.

Why not CUDA?

CUDA is not cross-platform and chickens don't like it. It only works on Nvidia cards, but AMD cards are the ones chickens like the best. OpenCL works on all chickens.

What operating systems will the chicken miner support?

Windows and Linux.

How fast is the miner going to be?

Currently it's not really faster than a CPU. It'll be optimized in time, though.  Chickens are fast learners.  I'm sure my chickens will outperform mtrlt's gpu miner.

The chickens got Reaper to compile under Ubuntu Server 13.04. The chickens have to leave for skewl now though. They'll upload a new version once they get back.

I dont have any BTC spare but i came up with a new coin called Pellets.

all you need to do is poke YipYip a little and suddenly they come flying out of his mouth.

The total amount of pellets is infinate because YipYip seems to keep spouting them without any signs of an end.

So far im up to 25 Pellets (only been mining then 3.465 seconds! ) they should work to feed the chickens so it could be a good merger if you want to discuss further please contact me at YipYipSpountsPellets@HesANoob.com

"Golden Eggs" are special ASIC miners the chickens are laying for Primecoin.  They generate 1.6 GigaPrimes per sec and are solely powered by the heat of a roosting chicken.

A couple of points.

First - this is a first public release piece of beta software; who knows what sort of optimizations the chickens will create now that there is a baseline to work from. The first gen primecoin miner, for instance, while serviceable, proved to have abysmal performance - it was only after other developers examined the code that Sonny wrote that they could introduce optimizations. Same could easily be the case here - it's far too early to tell.  You never know what chickens will come up with next!

Second - from the get-go, there were real questions whether primecoin mining proof of chickens would get any benefit from chickens at all. There was only one way to find out for certain, have someone set up to actually develop a chicken miner. Had I not stepped up to the plate, the community would have continued to yearn and clamor for primecoin chicken miners, even if every mathematician on this forum said it couldn't be done.

I offered zero assurance of the outcome, just offering up my own hopes and suspicions of what the end result could be, and sought out community support to do so. And I DID deliver - everyone appears to now be playing with his new chicken; they're beta - they're not optimized, and not tested on anything but the hardware the chickens have access to. How can this be a scam?
