Title: Have faith in Bitcoin. The internet had the same resistance in the 90's
Post by: MonkeyBrain on February 03, 2018, 04:16:50 AM
These were things being said when the internet first started out.  It's the same thing being said about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies.  Have faith, you'll be rewarded.  Found these on an article here if you want to read more. https://www.vox.com/2014/6/30/5839436/marc-andreessen-on-bitcoin

-It's for nerds. "Fine, you nerds can do what you want but normal people are never going to use this thing."

-It's completely decentralized, which means you can't trust it. No business is ever going to do anything on it because businesses won't work on an untrusted environment. There
 won't ever be any e-commerce.

-There will never be any internet payments. No one will put their credit card on the internet.

-It's an open-source kind of thing so there will be no Internet companies.

-It's got all these technical deficiencies. It's slow. It's unreliable. It doesn't work right. When you do a search, sometimes you get an answer back and sometimes you don't.

-Sometimes when you dial in you get a busy signal.

-What happen if your ISP goes out of business? Then you can't get back online.

-Once you get on the internet, even assuming you get on the internet, there's nothing to do. There's no content. Time magazine isn't online, the New York Times isn't online. It's just a bunch of nerd stuff.

I don't think it is fair to compare internet and bitcoin.

A better analogy is internet and blockchain technology.

Bitcoin is just one of the "products" of blockchain technology.

Bitcoin can either turnout to be "a Google" or "an Amazon" and conquer the world or turn out to be "a Yahoo" and get overtaken by newer competitors.

The Internet is supported by real companies, and it's a trend, but the risk of virtual currency is too big for me. There are still big questions about whether bitcoin exists in a decade.

Objectivly no,

the internet had only resistance from old people,

this is about currencies, capitalism, much more ubstantial and most of all POWER,

you furthermore stressed everybody to believe mainly in Bitcoin, but why bitcoin people abandon it because of its high costs and outdated technology, so its only logical that bitcoin is declining after its hype

regards

Probably the guy meant another thing: when people do not understand something, they vote against it and show no support. I agree than internet might be compared with blockchain — it is the same revolution in our life.

Valid quote bitcoin may turnout to be a google or amazon otherwise it will become yahoo . The present move going towards yahoos step. Ethereum and neo are going to be amazon and google . It’s sad to say but greedy miners and useless forks in bitcoin blockchain has to stop.

I think that bitcoin is falling because incorrect information was received by the media, a simulated dump, and a lot of alarmists.

I couldnt disagree with your point of view but the thing is,internet is another thing than cryptocurrencies, cryptos are more complicated than internet because it is a form of digital currency which may replace the existing fiat in the future, internet were the first of its kind, while cryptocurrencies isnt the first digital currency.

You are absolutely right! Internet phenomenon is a good case study on how initially people receive new technology. Blockchain will change everything in not too distance future and bitcoin and other cryptocurrency will be leading in providing too good to be through services in payment, investment, retails and internet of things.

People are conservative and don't usually believe in what they are not able to understand. My grandma and a smartphone are two parallel universes which won't ever meet. So our society is a grandma,  who was given a new smartphone. She resists to learn how to use it,  never makes a call,  but still charges it and removes  dust from it:)
