do you think it is going to 6000?

It's always tough to predict these things. Two ways to think about it are in terms of fundamentals and in terms of technicals.

The Fundamentals are the business value of the investment (Bitcoin, in this case). How strong is Bitcoin's utility for the future? Does it still have a place in this cryptocurrency market? It this investment world?

The Technicals are the movement of the price and how it can dictate future supply and demand behavior. In this topic we look at the price charts over several months and identify where there are stalls and spurts in the price direction. The stalls where price is stagnant for a period of time form bases of support or resistance. The spurts, where prices rise or fall over short periods of time represent breakouts or breakdowns (through the base of resistance or support, respectively). The last support level was $10,000. We broke through it and now we've fallen to the mid $8,000s. The next support level is $8,200. If we break through that mark, we could fall to $5,800.

But...will it happen? Who knows. That's where the fundamentals come in. The fundamentals keep you holding on to a good investment, even in the bad times.

When in doubt, double down!

do you think it is going to 6000?

bitcoin will never ever go up again

the reasons are:

1. technologically outdated, there are better and faster tech basis available, why by bitcoin when its price rise nimbus and hype is gone, and its tech is outdated? do people still buy iphone 1s or old mobile phone?

2. still high costs.

3. slow.

3. propagandistic competition, there are more than 1500 coins now, that challenge communist rule via central banks, the original small bitcoin community is gone an entire new decentral financial market is now in existance

and those holding the altcoins dont have reasons to talk good about bitcoin

I see this bad condition will end in June or July 2018, meaning that the crypto world will be back to normal again at that time. so there is still the possibility of bitcoin prices going down to the point of $ 6000, even very likely going down to the point of $ 4500.
do not sell now, but better buy more or hold. So, there are only 2 options.

No i don't think bitcoin's price will goes down up to $6000 because we are in era of digital currencies and the king of digital currencies is the bitcoin, bitcoin also has many updating from the developer of team and community, bitcoin will apply lighting network. It is mean the problem of bitcoin will be fixed and the bitcoin's price is just fluctuation it will be rising again, remember the history will reveat again also bitcoin's price will be more expensive because its limited supply.

Probably BTC may go down to $,6,000.Selling BTC at this stage is not wise able however those who are in shortcut and would feel that their investment may lost could sell their BTC now, they will get low profit depend upon their buying.BTC needs wait and patience and those who hold for long time actually receive higher margin. This is a dip period running for BTC these days,so i would suggest to hold your BTC,it will go up and would come up at the expectations of its investors.Currently its in price correction phase and its being speculated that it will touch top level in 2018,so wait and monitor ups and down.

For your first question.
Anything is possible but in my chart $8,000 resistance area is being tested right now. If the bearish trend continues prices may go back around $4,000. Thats the next big support level and i will be surprised if bears successfully break that area.

For the second question.
What is your average price. If you got it like mine at around $3k then my strategy is just hold it even if it reached $4k i will not sell it. If you want to lock in your profits then do so, you can always buy again.

Absolutely agree, I have news that next months we can expect European countries to ban bitcoin and price will plummet to $1000.
I am telling you sell NOW when price is still good before it is too late or you will be crying.
You have been warned.

Man o man.
The bitcoins is healthy as ever.
There are 16 million mined allready.
Most bitcoins have never been spend.
Say 75% of the bitcoins have been made.
The last 5 million will be made the next 130 years.
These 75% were made in the last 8 years.
The last 25% will be made in the next 98% of the time needed to make the 21 million bitcoins.
When demands stay the same, their will be never the amount to keep up with demand, casing pirice rises.
With a 10.000 dollar 1 btc, we need to use the milibtc, to make the milibtc just 10 again.
The 10 milibtc will grow to 10.000 milibtc btc in 8 years again
of the 10.000 mili we make 10 microbtc, the MuBTC.
After 8 years the 10 MuBTC will be 10.000 MuBTC again.

The raelly had to come down.
This correction was predicted and expected
Like 4 year before.
History of the bitcoin will repeat itself.
Every 4 year you will see a really, followed by a drop.
Then a year hardly anything and a hardly better next.
Then a better third and a good fourth year, with a really towards the end of the 4 year cycles.
After the reward is cut in half again, we have a 4 more years of the same again.
Just like after the really from 2013, we saw the same really in 2017.
Just before the rewards are cut in half, we see the exponential price-rises.

We will see a drop, likely to under 5000 dollar.
Because we came from almost 20.000 dollar
Every four years, just before the end of the 4 year period when the reward is halved.
When btc went from 50 cent reward to 25 cent reward we had a really up to 1200 dollar.
We went back to well under 300 dollar so a quarter.
We had 20.000 dollar so we now go to a quarter again the 5000 dollar or even 4000 dollar.
It will be the whole year a slow year.
People will step out, creating more supply and a equal demand.
a steady line will be followed.
Next year is slightly better, 2019 will be as 2015 4 years ago.
If you like to know what the markets will do, look at 4 years ago.
The really is written in the code of the software.
The next price-explosion will be again in 2021.
The more we will come to the end of 2021, the higher the prices will be again.
The same as 4 years before 2021, so 2017. 2017 will be the same as 2013 four years before.

If things stay the same, demand and supply stay steady, we will see every 4 years a repetitition.

The bitcoin is likely to stay the same.
We enter now the same period of rest, we had seen in 2014.
2019 will be as 2015 not a whole lot better.
So will be as 2016 and 2021 will be as 2017 including a race at the end of the year, before rewards go from 12.5 to 6.25 btcent again

Bitcoin is a work in progress. While I agree that it's currently outdated, things are being done on that front to address that. The next upgrade comes in the form of the Lightning Network, which aims to be just as fast, if not even faster, than the current available options.

2. still high costs.

You can send 5 sats/byte transactions again, so I don't know what you're talking about. Blame your exchange if this is the case with you.

3. slow.

If you pay a substantial fee (which is much lower at the moment), I can guarantee you your transaction will be confirmed in one or two blocks. Bitcoin is either slow or expensive, but rarely both.

3. propagandistic competition, there are more than 1500 coins now, that challenge communist rule via central banks, the original small bitcoin community is gone an entire new decentral financial market is now in existance

This could be true, but if we're using price as the basis, it doesn't hold water at the moment, and everything else is doing equally bad.

Yes it is possible to go down to 6k or even more cause there the investors reacts to every bad news about bitcoin and it causes a big sell off.
It dependes how much you bought your bitcoin if you bought it higher than 10k i think you should consider cutting your loss.

Bitcoin market is very unpredictable. Nobody knows what direction it's going to go, so use your best judgment and make a decision. My opinion is that regardless of short term price, we're going to see a much higher price in long term.

That's proof of bitcoin not being healthy. Good currency circulates well. Bitcoin not. Something went totally wrong with Satoshi idea.
So there should be bitcoin community tax put on hoarders otherwise bitcoin will not be good crypto. Like tax on land which is hoarded for speculation and not being used properly.
So if you have address and spend your bitcoins regularly you will have no community tax.
But if you do not spend from more tahn 1 year , your bitcoin value should be gradually  decreaed to give you incentive to spend your bitcoins and help bitcoin world community grow.
Fantastic!

In some days people will regret for not buying the Btc at this price as once it will start to rise we have seen how quickly in dec it can multiply and same thing can happen again . Also after China ban as well in some days only market started to rise again and same will happen now as well .

Hopefully this bad condition will end in April or May 2018, and Bitcoin will recover in the range of $ 20,000.

And I will hold some BTC, and the rest I will sell for in the groom for everyday family needs

Next year is a little better, if you want to know what the market will do,

I have experienced 4 years ago, just like 4 years before 2021 ,.
2017 is equal to 2013 four years earlier.

The next price boom will return in 2021.
the more we will arrive at the end of 2021, the higher the price will come back.

hopefully..

I think it may go to 6000$ but who knows it also may increase. Bitcoin is an unstable crypto currency. So today it is falling but tomorrow it may rise again. So, I think you should wait. Don't worry. Be patient. But if you need argent money then you may take Bitcoin out. But what decision you take the gainer and the sufferern both will be you

You are right, bitcoin prices are hard to predict. It's not impossible if the price goes back to $ 6000, it could happen. Well, all we have to do is stay calm, do not panic. As you say, bitcoin is very effective for long-term infestation, so hold it and wait longer.
However, if you have more money when the bitcoin price goes back to $ 6000, it is a good time to buy.

But there are flows.
There could be made a lot of duplicates of Satoshi-dice.
When many gambling sites start to use bitcoins and every push on a button of a slotmachine means an transaction of 1 or just 0.5 dollarcent.
Someone evil could write an attack and make a slotmachine that makes 1.000.000 gambles for only 1 dollarcent.
Copying the slotmachine 10.000 times and have them gambling automaticly.
Or make each pull on the one arm bandit as cheap as possible.
When the bitcoincore is above the 3 terabyte, then all ordinary pc owners will get rid of the core.
Today it is just 150 gb.
When the ordinary public doesn't run the core anymore, and hundreds of slotmachines are using the blockchain and cloak it full with meaningless 0,000000000001 dollarcent pulls at a virtual slotmachine, your cup of coffee will have a hard time to be handled as a payment.
Making bitcoinpayments slower and slower.
But even when conformation takes 4 days.
When the system is save, and it seems to be, even a 4 day waiting is no problem.
The banks used to have need of 4 days for they had their money from place a to place b.

The bitcoin is likely to stay the same.
We enter now the same period of rest, we had seen in 2014.

Unfortunately, I see btc hitting 6k within the next couple weeks.
At least momentarily it will, then it will establish a new line in the mid 7k range, then another week, we will see it dip to the 5k range.

The issue with the price fall is that the market is there to short BTC hard.
Those who are shorting btc, especially since the futures market was opened up, are booking some serious profits.

Most in this game are day trading it. buying and selling making some good cash on the daily rise and fall.

Yeah I don't see anything good anytime soon, it will probably take many months.

Well, my analysis there:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2873358.0

The main thing to think of: -who- will buy BTC above 12k? You need new blood for that, veteran investors will not risk it. And the new blood, well the BTC just got its chance, blew it, it will take time for the confidence to return to the general public who is more than needed for the price to reach 20k again, I believe.

Perhaps one day many investors will come from the classic shares market to BTC, and well, -perhaps- now is the right time for those, but frankly I think the crypto world will need to be a lot more stable for that.
If BTC now takes a whole year to reach 12k, then yes I can imagine it continuing to grow (slowly). But do you see this happening? I believe that if BTC "only" goes up to 12k by the end of the year, many will have sold in-between, or have moved to ALTs.

While I knew BTC for a long time, I would never have risked putting my money in it. That, until a few months ago when it reached 3k$. By the time my bank transfer arrived to the exchange, it had already pumped to 4500. And you know what, I still bought. Because I was a newcomer, because I wanted to take my chance. I was the idiot, like the ones needed for prices to pump. Quick rise to 3k, then 4.5k, who already in the community would have bought? No one. Only newcomers do.
So that's the question, who will those newcomers be now. Perhaps those who are wise enough & didn't dare to buy at 20k, but if it does one more parabolic rise & dump again, it will be over for those too.
Gamblers will always be part of it, though. And well, crypto is a fun game afterall, and you still have less chances to be fucked than in a casino.

I don't recommend to sell it at this time. but all decisions are on your hands. all speculation is always at risk
I think bitcoin will be able to go back to normal and slowly increase. yes, this is the result of the 2017 correction, so it's natural if the market is currently down.

How would the market price of BTC react if there was some 'tax' applied like this to discourage investors? I believe that it would crash even further. How would such a tax be applied, and who would apply it if BTC is decentralised? Where would the tax funds go to?

I don't think this is a feasible idea.

I 100% agree.
I like to watch Tone Vays because he's entertaining and he seems passionate about what he does. But he's really full of shit when he does his pointless analysis. And when he ever predicts right, it's because he actually has enough influence to change the market.

There are just personal opinions. In my opinion bitcoin will hit 100k dollars someday in future. Of course it can drop to 5k even 3k. But I believe in bitcoin and blockchain technology. So I don't sell. I think the real question you have to ask yourself is "what's my opinion?"

That's where I don't agree. Well first, blockchain isn't just BTC - which is btw the reason I sold a few of my BTC, I'm holding way more ALTs now, I had too many BTCs (which I only value like gold, but gold needs confidence).
As a programmer, I admire that it works, and I think it can have many uses. But not nearly as many as people think. Remember when the .com craze started, people were valuing shitty "cooking receipies" websites at crazy prices.

Also, I believe people put too much money on what are just -concepts- right now. I'm not surprised about it, because well, Kickstarter. The only coin that I valued when I got in, was REP, because Augur was close to being an actual app, for which on top of it profits do make sense (even though they make sense in ETH, not really REP, but that's another story).
A decentralized casino, a decentralized exchange? Hell yeah, that'd have advantages. A decentralized reduction coupon system for some brand? Well, give me a reason for that to need to be decentralized.
Decentralized currency? Sure, not really for us who are already used to pay instantly, using stable fiat, but for some countries, or fraudsters, yes. Question is, why should it be Bitcoin? Technically, I don't see why. I do see the trust, and that's the reason I invested in it in the first place, but it looks fragile, when you see so many peole leaving the boat instantly.
I don't think that blockchain & decentralization have that many uses. But if Bitcoin's technology has that much of an advance, I'd like to see where exactly. It has support, definitely. As a currency? Well it needs miners, while, as a programmer, my ideal decentralized currency would need no miners, at least not to verify transactions. In a system of *actually* used currency, it's people doing transactions who can also verify them.

Also, as a programmer, I would never value so much v1 of something. BTC is v1. It will forever be in history books. It's amazing that it worked/works, and paved the way for the future. BUT I'm a programmer, v1 is always far from the best. Sometimes you can patch things for years and still improve it. But really, often you just need to rewrite things. I don't think that BTC is "the best" because it was the first, I think the opposite.

Yet, I don't even believe this matters at all. People are there for money, they don't care about technology. XRP was pumped to second place, and it's not even decentralized. BCH was pumped to second place, and it's a copy/paste scam. People go where the money is, it's that simple.
Long-time hodlers sure care about technology, but here too, beware, there is always a new challenger to improve on your coin of choice, and make it worthless. ETH vs NEO? Who knows which one will win, if both, or any, will survive? Apps on the blockchain, totally. But using which technology? Perhaps not even one started yet. Sadly one can't simply invest "in blockchain".

Fantastic!

How would the market price of BTC react if there was some 'tax' applied like this to discourage investors? I believe that it would crash even further. How would such a tax be applied, and who would apply it if BTC is decentralised? Where would the tax funds go to?

I don't think this is a feasible idea.

I don't think it's the BTC concept that's wrong anyway. The problem is the way to mass adoption. It needs to be adopted by a lot of people to be stable enough.

Also the problem that, and it will be true this time again, after a crash the money (well, BTC) goes from the many weak hands to the few strong hands, isn't helping mass adoption.

I think a solution would be to, for many years or even decades, limit the amount of BTC that one person can hold. But, with it based on anonymous addresses, I don't see how you'd achieve that. But if you managed to initially limit the amount of coins one could hold, it would probably go to everyone quickly, without as much pumping, it would get a chance to actually be used.

I don't recommend to sell it at this time. but all decisions are on your hands. all speculation is always at risk
I think bitcoin will be able to go back to normal and slowly increase.

I too think it's gonna slowly increase, but the question is who will keep investing in a crypto that "just" slowly increases? Knowing the risks, that is. If the BTC keeps just slowly increases, I predict people will quickly move to ALTs, and then BTC crashes again.

It depends: (1) what is your average price?; and (2) how much does this investment represent in your total savings/portfolio?

Answering your question: no, I don't believe BTC will touch the 6,000 level

Unfortunately, I see btc hitting 6k within the next couple weeks.
At least momentarily it will, then it will establish a new line in the mid 7k range, then another week, we will see it dip to the 5k range.

The issue with the price fall is that the market is there to short BTC hard.
Those who are shorting btc, especially since the futures market was opened up, are booking some serious profits.

Most in this game are day trading it. buying and selling making some good cash on the daily rise and fall.

The price of bitcoin has experienced some ups and downs in the recent period. At what price to sell bitcoin to see personal investment philosophy.

We just have to wait till next tuesday after the US authorities hearing on Bitfinex and Tether. If the authorities find Bitfinex has pumped the price of Bitcoin with Tether, then the price will drop to 5 or 6K. But when this is all over bitcoin will increase, because many people who missed out will step in and buy large numbers of bitcoin. So, better do not sell.

It is difficult to assess the crypto market at this time in terms of price. I think bitcoin can repeat the cycle as it did in 2017. I think the price could hit bottom $ 6000 or lower. Will it then boom again? There are only 2 options, sell or buy and hold it. I personally added a few altcoins to myself a few days ago. I am still considering investing in the upcoming bitcoin.

in the world of cryptocurrency many possibilities can happen. Bitcoin is currently $ 8000 to reach $ 6000 it may just happen even more than that. one of the reasons that many people are just getting to know bitcoin panic at a steadily declining price and selling it. I hope for the beginner to be patient and do not panic because the panic will actually lead to worsening market prices.

No o e knows exactly that whether it will touch 6k figure or not but selling your bitcoin is the worst option now a days and you will surely get loss so just hold because one day or the other it will boost up and on that day you will surely get much better profit.

I don't think it will go down to 6k usd until it will ho back to its high price again. this is bot the biggest dip in bitcoin. don't sell your bitcoin you will regret later. wait for such time that bitcoin will go back to its price which is higher that what the price now is. So hang on and wait a little bit. Hopefully this will end sooner.

That will totally depend on the outcome of the USDT case. I can understand price stopped dropping while we don't know yet, but what do you think will happen?

-USDT is legit? Instant pump (most likely before I have the time to react. I sold half of my BTCs, so if that happens I'm a bit screwed. Well not really because I still made a profit, but I intended to hodl them all)

-USDT is a scam? Instant dump, perhaps as bad as the ones caused by MtGox.
In a short time it will probably pump because people will wanna quickly get rid of their USDT, then move what they just bought to another exchanged not backed by USDT, dump there for real fiat & transfer to their bank.

I think so, because now almost everyone is still calm.
So I think it's going to fall further, but I suggest you don't sell bitcoin, because when it goes up, you probably won't buy it again.

You wish so because you don't have bitcoin? If you are waiting btc to come down to 6k to buy you might wait till forever. I believe 8000-9000 usd levels are very good to get in as it is fibonacci retracement level.

Can't say and can't predict. Bitcoin is going tough today and is roughly going down but what's a good indication that bitcoin is going back again at $9,000 so this is a very good sign that bitcoin is starting to kick again.

You know what? You have a point. I was thinking yesterday. Good traders usually sell more than half of their BTC into their desired altcoins. The only remaining holders of Bitcoins are newbies and noobs. Sad thing they dump BTC at bottom. If all good traders will dump their alts to pump Bitcoin, the better.

I think this is not the right time to sell your bitcoins because the price is too low than last december 2017. If you think the price will go down to 6000$, don't worry because it will increase again as what you can see in the market. The bitcoin price is so volatile, it goes up and down at any moment. The risk is if it will continue to decrease and we dont know when it will increase again. But if you think you should sell your bitcoins, it depends on yourself.

Yeah and if they were having bitcoin they must say something good for bitcoin that price of bitcoin will increase again but they are really hopeless it is not good, selling bitcoin at low price is not a wise step because bitcoin does not allow us to make false decision in bitcoin, price of bitcoin will increase once again and it is time to hold it and wait with patience so we will be able to have bright future in bitcoin.

Yeah, I think it won't drop below 7000$ but still, it's hard to get a clear picture right now. If the price gets even low, there's no need to get panic since the ups and downs are quite normal for bitcoin. But for now, I suggest it's better to hold them as it is a long-term investment and such an investment requires time to achieve a desired amount of profit...

I think it can go to $2500, but I didn't sell. It can spike up at any moment. You can't predict it, because the market is manipulated (10% of users controls 90% of supply).

I suggest you hold it through the storm, because eventually it will go up, and we will be at $25000 and beyond. The only problem is when, this can last some weeks or months. I think it will go down for some weeks, and it will be back to normal by march, but you never know, it can become another 2014.

Bitcoin is only worth the amount of money people have put in.  Not everyone can take out.  Some people have to lose if others make big gains.  Now the price is dropping.  Yes it will go up if lots of people put money in.  Not everyone can take out more than they've put in.  Though some folk seem to think everyone can make a profit.  That is not true.

The price of bitcoat will be reduced to very low limits, but this process will be temporary, albeit very protracted, all this is due to the fact that the owners of money in our world will buy bitcoins at a low price from those who are afraid that the bitcoin will collapse.

bitcoin will never ever go up again

ok, you really think that after 9 years of wild up- and downswings, this time bitcoin will never recover?

Quote
the reasons are:

1. technologically outdated, there are better and faster tech basis available, why by bitcoin when its price rise nimbus and hype is gone, and its tech is outdated? do people still buy iphone 1s or old mobile phone?

bitcoin is a software protocol that can and will improve. the only reason it needs to scale is its overwhelming success. if no one uses your beloved altshitcoin, of course it is at the moment faster and cheaper (but WAY less secure). so which are the "better and faster tech"? and what will happen if that "tech" gets adopted? it will run into the same problems as bitcoin does currently. what makes you think other protocols will not run agains the same problems of scaling?
furthermore you compare outdated hardware (iPhone) with software, which seems inappropriate.

Quote
2. still high costs

the costs are not high at all, mempool is empty (and was full because of spam attacks carried out by the wide array of bitcoin enemies. there are enemies from outside the crypto space (banks) and inside (altcoin fanboys). be aware that if the outside enemies succeed to bring down bitcoin, they will also succeed to bring down your altshitcoin.
segwit works and the effect is already noticeable. what high costs are you referring to?

Quote
3. slow.

all my transactions in the last few days got into the next block easily. just a few minutes. what are you talking about?
lightning is coming and it will speed up transactions big time.

Quote
3. propagandistic competition, there are more than 1500 coins now, that challenge communist rule via central banks, the original small bitcoin community is gone an entire new decentral financial market is now in existance

correct. the cultist fanboys of the 1500 shitcoins want to get rich quick.  the altcoin devs didn't think it would be better to develop and push for side chains or additional layers of the bitcoin-protocol. no, better start your own coin and tell everyone "bitcoin is old, slow, expensive outdated - buy OUR new shitcoin because of ... it makes us rich and you will end up holding bags of shitcoin."

you fell for this propaganda and now you even spread it yourself like a mindless parrot.

bitcoin is running and working since 2010. no downtime. constantly attacked 24/7, every second. the altshitcoins are NOT working. they are ideas, plans. no one uses them. no infrastructure. no widespread adoption, just greedy folks wanting to make a quick buck.  of all those 1500 shitcoins, please name me ONE real life use case that that shitcoin is needed for. oh wait, there is ETH, it has a real use case. which is to create more altshitcoins via ICO scamming. wow, great use case.

and the rest? what exactly can I do with cardano? who is using it? ripple, anyone? iota?

I cannot comprehend how so many people can fall for this shit, does does not work, does not do anything - is only a promise.

bitcoin was faced with merciless criticism and doubt by a very alert community from day one - but it was running and could be tested out. altcoins are not faced with anything like that. they are mere ideas and mostly scams.

if you do not believe in bitcoins future I advise you to leave your propaganda in the forums of your shitcoin and not in a bitcoin forum.

if I think motorcycles are outdated, why on earth would I log into a motorcycle forum and tell them motorcycle fans that their tech is not going to make it?

so, farewell and goodbye.

Don't be too much in a haste, most especially when you are in already. If you have the ability to read charts, just look out for the last point of bounce back when it tested around $7600 - $7800 or thereabout. If it ends up testing that spot again and it could not hold it back upward, then you can sell a little bit lower. There could be a little fight between the bulls and the bears here, so you may wait a little. Maybe you can just place a stop loss on $7300 and look forward to buying back lower.

This month we can not say anything. But the sale of Bitcoin currently is a bad decision. In some countries the fear of Bitcoin, this may be due to a fall in price.Due to barriers in countries over Bitcoin, Most investments will be reduced. This will reduce the price of Bitcoin. But it will not last long.Come back to old place.Coins are not sold right now need to keep.

You should have sold long ago, this mentality of holding forever is not the best thing you can do when it comes to cryptos. Everyone knows they are extremely volatile so why not set a limit of how much you are willing to lose before selling. Everyone knew this crash was going to happen eventually, maybe not to this degree but still it was definitely coming. People had plenty of time to sell. If you bought at 15k and you are still holding at 7.5k then you don't know how to trade and if you are in for the long long term you shouldn't even care. Bitcoin is still worth the same as it was 3 months ago, the crash isn't really that big if you consider that. The bubble busted but that doesn't mean it's not going to recover, cryptos are still in early development and although the market cap has hit like 800b that's still nothing. Other international markets have 50 Trillion as marketcap. Cryptos can literally be used anywhere so a 800b marketcap is really meaningless.

In the world of Bitcoin, anything is possible and as cliche as that might sound you should be used to it by now as we have reached a point where the range is reaching below the lowest rate we thought it would get; so in other words $6,000 is a rate we might possibly reach and we can even reach further below if people continue to panic sell. You know that selling at this time won't do you any good because you would end up losing more. However, it is you who can only decide that. If you have faith in Bitcoin, you know that it would recover. Just give it time. If not, you have all the freedom to choose what action would best suit you.

do you think it is going to 6000?

It depends. What was the price you gave for Bitcoin? If it was less than 6 thousand you might really try to sell it if you are scared of the market fall risk. But weigh all pros and cons first.

do you think it is going to 6000?

Even though Bitcoin goes lower than $6000 or $1000, why would you sell for a very low price? To reduce your losses? But do you even know who Bitcoin is? If it reaches that price level many will just buy some because of the very big discount. Then the price will bounce back and will continue to increase to over its former ATH or just close below. Long term holders usually are the ones that always wins.

The big question before selling is that,is the coin in profit,if not there is no way i would be selling my coins, instead i will transfer my coins to my cold wallet and wait for the market to recover, with the recent negative news and the speculation of more strict regulations, expect the market to be volatile.

Can't say and can't predict. Bitcoin is going tough today and is roughly going down but what's a good indication that bitcoin is going back again at $9,000 so this is a very good sign that bitcoin is starting to kick again.

You wish so because you don't have bitcoin? If you are waiting btc to come down to 6k to buy you might wait till forever. I believe 8000-9000 usd levels are very good to get in as it is fibonacci retracement level.
Desperate people who wants bitcoin to go down further are not affected because they don't have it.
They won't say something good about bitcoin if they want to have it at the cheapest rate. This how would they come up with a strategy that having someone who's professionally known in the world of financing and will say bad info's about bitcoin. But even how many times they will talk that way bitcoin is unstoppable, look we are recovering now.

Never rule out the possibility of btc price going down again to $6k or lower. Learn how to strategize within the crypto market and study the trend, know your entry and exit point in the unpredictability of price movement of btc. Only yourself will know the answer to your question if you have fully equipped yourself with proper knowledge and strategy before you entered the volatile world of crypto.

We reached 6000 at some point but what it is the point of selling at that bad price, unless you love to lose money that is the fast way to become poor, to buy expensive and sell cheap when you should be doing the opposite, my recommendation is to keep holding this is nothing but a temporary adjustment in the market, in the future bitcoin will go up once again.

Man o man.
The bitcoins is healthy as ever.

Most bitcoins have never been spend.

Fantastic!

Of course not.
You are wrong this time.

Ordinary money doesn't circulate well either.
Most of the money is tight up in a house or car and on the bank.
When people have 200.000 euro in a house, they live with 2000 euro each month.
You have a small amount in your wallet for use (circulation) the bulk is at the bank.
More money is in your house or car.
The money in your house is tight up and doesn't circulate well.

If you do not spend your bitcoins, the value increases, it value becomes more and more.
Ordinary money is worth less and less, so decreases.

I have made 23 btc and spend them all.
Last time I checked I had 200 euroś worth of BTC, while I could have 400.000 euro.
Could have had, doesn't count.
I spilt the milk, so I am not going to cry.

Fear of loss is one that each and every user has got, with cryptocurrency user should have the mentality to face anything. It can be a loss, gain and most importantly hack.

It is really hard to predict if bitcoin will dump further or it'll encounter a pump. Whatever may be the future of bitcoin, just hold. Do not sell at such low rates. I'd suggest buy more if you want to. But do not sell. You'll just have a loss rather than having a profit.
Avoid negative news and believe in bitcoin.

I think he's panic to see the price keep dumping at the moment but I really suggest him to hold his ground since we cannot see more dumps coming on it since I really sure that the huge supporters of bitcoins will backed it up untill they can pump it up again to earn more profits for this top 1 digital currency in the world. And we are on Active state of markets right now and its so impossible to see such huge dumps again.

I'm not so sure it will happen, because now the price has started to increase again. So it's better to hold it first and wait at least until March. If prices continue to increase then do the same thing again. Do not let you experience the same thing with me, because i sell back when the first time the price began to rise which is about $7000. I'm very sorry to see the price now to $8000 when it happens in just a week.
This is the result of impatience.

Bitcoin fall below  $6,000 early this month and I hope you buy then as this bearish trend is seeing to be over. Bitcoin has help many to get large profit buy those that have invested in the price go down like this and sell when it get up again. Bitcoin cannot be kill as said buy some people and it cannot remain bullish forever as being speculated by some speculators.

Well, most of them actually never bothered about the idea behind cryptocurrency and all the way from the Ponzi schemes they have been doing, they come into purchasing bitcoin thinking it is just another one of their trial and error Ponzis. I totally agree with you that people like this do not even deserve to be here and this is the reason they end up selling what they are holding even at loss without considering what the future holds. There is still a possibility that the price of the bitcoin will go down to $6000 but it still depend on situation. Bitcoin, at this time is on uphill climb  and might continue in the next few days. Many bitcoin investors are hoping that next month will be a start of bullish trend of bitcoin until the onset of summer. The next down trend of bitcoin may not be massive because of the continued demand of the leading cryptocurrency.

Definitely, and we already know this kind of stuff and in reality we tend to react negatively if btc fall. We should never give up especially in times of sudden dip instead it is the time to buy some coin. This kind of behavior will really happen in first quarter of the year and everyone expected that btc will rise in the middle of the year.

Don't sell yet but if you are able to earn with bitcoin's price now then go for it. I would not sell while not seeing bitcoin's price at the state where I'm satisfied with and that is more than $15,000. Although I have to sell when there's a need as its inevitable for me when I have some needs of doing it so. Just remember that you have to sell at profit and don't sell at panic or you just want to cut your losses.

Your question can't be answered with simple yes or no. There is always possibility for Bitcoin price to dump, even to 6000$ but no one can't tell for sure whether this will happen or when.
I suggest not to sell, especialy if you have bought the coins. You don't have to face the loss if you wait long enough. Patience is one of the most important characteristics of Bitcoin users.

Actually, everything can be, because Bitcoin has never been characterized by a stable coin. But I can say one thing, that this year already some exchangers showed the results of the price of 6 500 dollars. But if this figure returns again and the price goes down, Bitcoin's trust will be completely lost.

Everyone knows that the price of bitcoin is not stable and is volatile ,the chances of prices going below $6000 depends upon the market sentiment around the world and if that happens you cannot do anything nor you can predict about it,that does not mean that people will loose trust in bitcoin, with time the price will recover,we have seen that in the past and that will happen in the future too. ;)

They do that because most of the time people take decisions based on impulse, they do not think about it for long, if they did they will take the time to read the most they can about the investment where they are going to deposit their life savings but they do not do that because that is not the way they take decisions, they just bought bitcoin because it was raising and it fell right and now they are suffering the consequences of their terrible mistake.

if you did it the right way , you invested some money which you can afford to lose or you made some money and invested that

there will always be times that bitcoin (crypto ) scare the hell out of you because it reach sometimes almost 6000 $

good if you can hold then because you do not need that money , if you needed that money you are triggered to sell and make

some whale happier then they already are and probaly bitcoin goes up again when you sold  yours

Before the Binance rumored hack, Bitcoin price charts were showing the bullish movement. Many of the traders went for Bitcoin longs. But because of the recent API manipulation, there was a rumor of Binance hack which by the volume is the biggest exchange. Thus, such a drop was expected. But since it was just a rumor, price should jump back and also there is a bullish sentiment in the market as well. I don't think price is going anytime soon back to $6k level.

Well a double bottom is possible.
But I hope we won't go that deep to be honest. I want to see a higher low, around 7k max, on the daily to give investors confidence to stay in, add more coins to their stash and seeing people on the sideline fomo in when they realize BTC won't get lower.
The thing is it's all just guessing and kind of hope and wishful thinking.
So let's wait and see how it will play out. But prepare for more down pressure with the next 5-7 days.

Exactly. I just wrote the same thing in another thread, so I will quote myself :D
Quote
I'm certain that if there was no Binance FUD we'd be higher than 11700 USD. Everything was indicating that we are in the rising pattern and the pattern that formed when people sold following the FUD news of a hack made others think that double top is forming. As a result we have another wave of sales today. Worst case scenario they will continue doing so until we reach $7k to form this pattern.
https://uk.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/Brab2m8H-Double-Top-on-Bitcoin/

False double top that made people follow with sales. Anyway, trading is not totally about knowing what the real value of the asset is. It's more about knowing how the collective acts and that it's like a huge ship. Whichever way you point it it will tend to oversteer and you need a lot of time and effort to make it stop. The first wave yesterday has launched it forward and this second wave today is it oversteering. We'll see if there will be a third wave or if it will manage to stop somewhere at $9k. Currently the green candle looks small, just like the one at 9600, so most likely another dump will follow.

do you think it is going to 6000?

I think no! because bitcoin is the most popular digital currency and the are a lot of user, so if someone are get worried and they sell its coin or bitcoin, they cash out the demand of use bitcoin increase and that way the price of bitcoin will grow up again. Bitcoin price decreasing because many user now choose to hold than use their bitcoin to the rate of using bitcoin is low that why bitcoin price is also decreasing.

I agree with what has been said.
We can never tell the next price of bitcoin and it is risky to either sell it now or wait for more. Well in this case, you have to know first if you will earn if you will are really decided to sell at 6k. But I believe that bitcoin is yet to arise and I am more excited to sell later when that happens.

I also don't think that $6K is possible at this point. Although the situation has changed again, there will be strong resistance at $7K-$8K that I don't see it going that deep. The Binance incident for me is no longer significant because they already assured their customers about the said incident.

What really happened is that a big whale from Japan suddenly liquedates huge amount of bitcoin causing it to undergo another market correction. But $6K will not be touch again. There are too much investors waiting in the background and I think they will jump at this bloodbath to buy more bitcoins.

Makes sense in a way but one thing's for sure for me, never sell. Especially with the market taking a dip. It doesn't really matter for me if the price goes 6k or lower. I'm willing to wait it out for a year or two and i'm pretty sure that by that time, i'll just chuckle when i remember the first quarter of 2018 lol

That's pretty hard to tell because cryptocurrencies are unpredictable and things can happen anytime of the day due to its volatility of its value. For now, just enjoy the small pump of bitcoin and if you also buy during the dip, then that'll be a winner move.

Watching the events going on the cryptomarket, I have noticed that Bitcoin is constantly going up and down, but just a bit. Thus, I do not think that it will fall under 6K.

The price went down once again because there is a great amount of bitcoins being sold in the market right now if there is a bigger supply and the demand is not growing then this means the price will go down in that is exactly what happened but it seems it has finally stopped and if this is true then we could go back to the previous prices.

Interesting post from the OP on Feb 3 when BTC was about $9K, three days before it did plunge to $6K - and then rebounding the next day to $8K, and going as high as $11.5K since then before being back where we started at $9K now. And it’s easy with hindsite to say that it would have begun great if the OP sold at $9K and bought back in at $6K three days later, but what I found was that I couldn’t get any orders in on BTC or ETH on my exchange here in Australia which I tried to do on Feb 6 - and I’ve been happy buying at the $8K mark. And I don’t think anyone really knows what will happen with the BTC price short or medium or long term, cause it depends on market sentiment and what news comes out and gets reported and of course on whether big holders of bitcoin like the Mt Gox received and whales dump onto the market or not - but I believe that in the longer term bitcoin will follow its long term growth line upwards sooner or later, and I’m not selling or trying to time the market too much.

As of now the price of the bitcoin decrease at $9000 and I think it will increase again.  So don't worry because we will not see $6000 this month or next month.  But it's not 100 percent guaranteed to happen because they have possibility the price will decrease more and for sure if that happen you lose some of your capital.  I hope someday Bitcoin back again at $20,000 not $6000.

Though it maybe inaccurate, but I see bitcoin redeeming its price maybe 2-3 months from now depending on the circumstances happening in the world. There are a lot of factors to consider on why prices are decreasing, such as:

  • Country prohibitions and world-wide implementation of laws prejudicial to cryptocurrencies;
  • Whales suddenly manipulating the prices via cashing-out most of their bitcoins;
  • Large trading companies releasing statements that cause confusion and doubt to the public into investing into bitcoin; and
  • Opinions of famous billionaires that are against bitcoin.

Those are some of the factors on why bitcoin prices are volatile. Regarding the question on whether you should sell your coins, it depends on your goal as an investor but personally you should never sell your bitcoins on a price where you initially invested it on.

It all depends on at in which you bought your bitcoin and you thinks that you have made reasonable profit then you can sell because there is a strong indication that the market will soon return to around $11,000, so holding is the only way to benefit more from your investment.

Currently I don't see that option. It's not impossibe but at the moment market is not showing any signs that the price could go that low.
Actualy I think that some positive information like the recent from Germany could influence the price in good way and encourage it for go up, at least for a short term period.
My suggestion is not to sell.

The current situation could be a long debate to tell since there's so many bad instance comes on it and to many bad fuds splattered which could hurt the simple traders badly. And 6000$ could possibly got by bitcoin for this moment since the issue of huge drop off still not been eliminated by the minds of people and the volume keeps decreasing and this could lead to mass turn off.

No one can absolutely think anything. There is a possibility to it if bitcoin decides to form a double bottom, but the only thing I can tell people like the OP is that, if you are not sure of selling based on your own decision of trading, there is no need to sell. One may gamble it and go Scott free but there may not be next time. So far, bitcoin is showing that possibility but only time can definitely tell.

To 6K? Give it a few weeks.
Well, we do not even need few weeks, the market is already showing some signs of that already but the thing is we may just at any point in time expect anything at this stage. I am prepared for anything that is bound to happen and normally there is nothing to worry about even if it does. In fact, I would not mind because bitcoin forming a double bottom may actually cause some rally.

To sell just because others are is the worst kind of planning I think, do not expect 'profits' this way.   Sometimes people are forced to sell because they borrowed so literally no thought can be expended its just a trigger then

Draw a line across every graph to discover how often price has met this point before.   The more times we matched this as a low or previous high then the greater significance of this price point.   weigh this vs current momentum and it can be enough to turn a shorter term bearish move back around.     To say longer lasting trends involves more but its a simple take :)

I expect 8000 is far more important then current news, overall BTC prospects improved recently.   Advertising by google as bearish news doesnt seem as important as the BTC fee dropping so much, etc

I think we could see a return to the $6,xxx’s but it depends what your strategy is. If it’s short term gains then sell now & buy back in when/if we dump lower.

If you’re looking at long term bigger profits then simply HODL through this until we come out the other end.

Let us stop thinking. If it does, the most important thing is to buy more. Bitcoin has shown that it can decide to do anything at any time as it please or as the whales pleases but the thing is for us to be patient as the market will definitely not go down forever and in cases like this, it is the fluctuation that the whales need to get the market to where they want it to for their own gain and driving it down hard will not let them absolutely achieve that.

Yeah, the future of bitcoin is great and with everything that is going on, investors that are smart already know what to do when the opportunity suffices.

Legalization on its own has really brought a lot of optimism into the market and right now, I am sure investors will be looking for a smart point to buy in for the long run as the market will recover, bounce back and start throwing out available resistances and that is what I expect.

The fact is that if everyone is afraid and panic, the whole market will be piled up with Bitcoin coins. And this in turn will affect the price. I'm still in a low position and prices, But then it will be even lower. We should not collapse the market. Although this will be a good opportunity to buy cheap coins.

At some point the price is going to recover the problem is we do not know when that is going to happen so we only have two options, become traders and try to guess when that is going to happen and fail like most people, or to keep holding our coins and just being patient, it is easy to guess that I prefer the later option.
