so do you think the decline is not finished and bitcoin will continue to fall?
some people suggest to hold and buy back. what is your advice?

Maybe quantity of short positions for btcusd can give you idea that quantity of people expecting it to go down are less at the moment. It is a sign that it is recovering. But it is not enough itself of course.

When is the bottom of the fall?
There is a very simple standard of judgment, and when all the groups about cryptocurrencies start to get quiet, this is a good time to buy. ;D

if we see the past trend then btc will take 2 or 3 more months to bounce back. moreover crypto world is unpredictable it can bounce back any time but i have seen in some telegram groups that in the 6th month of 2018 bull run will return to the market..

Professional traders use technical analysis. These are based from combination of charts, indicators and candlestick patterns. Based on daily candle stick pattern and RSI, BTC is already at oversold zone when it hit 8K yesterday, with this I expect it to dip to around 7k and should have a bullish run in the next week or so.

disclaimer: I strongly deny that I am a professional trader

I think it's still going to go down, but the best trading strategy is holding.
Because when you sell, you may not know when it's the bottom of a bitcoin, and then forget to buy it back, so you'll regret it when it goes up again.

When bitcoin's $10k resistance is broke, probably it will skyrocket once again from the dips,so lets hope bitcoin's price would not break the $8k support because if that happens bitcoin will crash down to $4k support levels which means it  is done.

Soon  :) , after $10k Resistance is broke bitcoin price will rise slowly and of course some altcoins will also rise. So for now just HOLD your bitcoin. Btw eth price its low too for now about $900~$950 you can buy it and make quick profit (sell on $1000). Good luck!

Actually, it is difficult to know the exact point of recovery. You can always predict but for traders, they really have to rely on technical analysis.

We already bounced from 7900 on bitfinex. The buyers are active. I think BTC already bottomed here

At the end of the day, the whales are making the most out of this bloodbath party. I am expecting that the Bitcoin bloodbath will not stop until the end of the Lunar New Year. For sure, Chinese people are going to withdraw a lot of their Bitcoins and other altcoins to celebrate the Lunar New Year, so my prediction is that there will be another round of bloodbath.

However, I don't mind about it. It's just a FUD sale that's being extended nowadays.

;D Sometimes those bottom can be deceitful. So, you have to trade with caution. Don't misjudge the market because it has got to the base. Market can linger on the bottom for a long time and won't make a turn around immediately.

However , the market is preparing for uptrend maybe around March.

I think that the sign has already appeared, so it's worth to hurry to buy bitcoin at a cheap price, because the more I think this price we just can not see, probably probably the next 10 years. Although recently all these games of big people make big corrections in our favorite bitcoin

We wont know when BTC will bounce but I would say that when BTC reaches about 8000, it should be at about the 66.7% retracement from its metoric rise in the last few months. That could be where I would opine BTC will consolidate for a while before any move up or down.

No one knows when it will bounce up. But understanding that this period is nearing to the chinese new year celebrations, I suspect that most of the chinese traders will only take big bets after the chinese new year celebrations. So after mid feb, then we will see big moves.

In the mean time, if you are a real crypto believer, just hold on tight. If you are here to speculate for the short term, good luck and hold tighter :P

Hopefully, these are signs of Bitcoin bouncing:

The only thing people were buying on the dip were antidepressives :D

There's still too much fluctuations happening, the market is still very much active. If you follow a rule about bollinger band in stocks, a sign that an asset will start increasing is when the band gets thinner and thinner. Meaning the price fluctuates at a very small range of prices, we haven't reached that point yet.

the current price of 1 btc is $ 8k more and is usually just because btc is really down and it rises but if 1 bitcoin falls to $ 2k dollars and this is the sign that it really falls but until it reaches that price is far below the bitcoin and can be recovered.

I'm not that of an analysis though, but for me, I guess BTC is in it's recovery state when the price is back to $12000+. That's what I'm looking at as a trader. Maybe there are more aspects to look at, but that's the easiest one for me.

Even the most experienced in the analysis do not exactly know what will happen. Only large players and insiders in the market can know something. But they will never tell about it. They can even deliberately mislead us. About the market, we can only know the past and the present.

actually from the graph already visible you just need to make a line and analyze it and draw your own conclusions, because not all can make a line on the existing graph, the line is used to determine the bounce point.

There have been sentimental evaluations as well when everyone has been writing about technical evaluation.

Bitcoin price has suffered most recently and has lost significant % of its recent gains, the space is a very volatile space and those that have mastered it must be smiling now that their call came to light, when the price hit $18k someone said the correction is going to bottom out at $8k and that seems to be true now, I also expect the price of Ethereum to correct around $400 soon, because those ICO guys will soon be liquidating some of their portfolio

Actually all of it was a blind projection of what when and how will bitcoin recover and bounce back, we dont know, all we have to is to believe that it will bounce back, as long as more people come in and buys and trades bitcoin, it will always bounce back and recover. So dont panic everything is alright, almost every year it happens it drops then it goes back up. Its all about timing.

I do not think there are certain special signs that tell us about it. However, the crypto will recover and grow. Indian authorities said they would not ban Bitcoin: they are just against illegal operations with BTC. This information might have positive effect.

Every correction of the market is always played out according to a new scenario. Therefore, it is very difficult to determine the moment of the market's reversal. I think this time the market will reverse and go into growth when no one expects it.

I can say that even pretty serious traders like Enky Nakamuro are giving up their nerves. As far as I know, he sold everything and left this game. And now judging by his twitter, he very much regrets about it. This is of course very sad. But no one knows any exact information

Honestly any time you see a 4-500% spike for any item in any market, it raises red flags.

I feel as though BTC's price spike was the result of people having holiday money to spend catching insane FOMO and the price pump outran its development schedule, with outstanding issues that people ignored at first like scalability and transfer times.

Like, if crypto in general had all the transaction infrastructure, merchant support and so forth, that is on the roadmaps for all these different dev teams, it would be proving its value already. I believe it will happen relatively soon, personally.

But in this case I feel like the hype rushed ahead of the actual roadmap timelines for crypto in general, so I still just see it as a very large "correction".

People hedge their assets in the real world against things like gold and real estate.
In the crypto world, the value of currencies will be backed by the advancements, flexibility, speed, stability, and mainstream adoption of the network as a whole.

When this happens, we will once again rise to the moon my friends.

Also, long time reader of the forum here. Glad to finally come on board the discussions  :)
