Title: "Investing" in gambling sites is NOT A GOOD IDEA.
Post by: KingOfSports on September 04, 2013, 04:59:45 PM
This is the easiest way a scammer can make thousands upon thousands of dollars. Already we've seen it happen:
Casinobit- SCAM.
Bitcoinsports.eu- SCAM.

Realize who you are entrusting your bitcoins to guys, people you have never met nor spoken with. People whose names are hidden with proxys and other means of hiding over the internet.

User dooglus created a good idea by offering the option of investing in these sites, however negatively it has led to many new sites offering the same thing to try and lure people in. I am not blaming Dooglus but he is somewhat responsible for all the new investment opportunities being offered by these sites. He is in no way responsible for them running away with peoples' funds though. Thus guys let me sum it for you:

Don't invest in any gambling site that the owner you do not PERSONALLY know in real life. In my opinion, not even Just-Dice unless you know Dooglus in real life. If you want to invest in a gambling site, then heres the safest and only option honestly: CREATE YOUR OWN. Your coins are never 100% safe unless you hold them yourself.

Why not? I invested in just-dice.com and had no problem withdrawing my profits.
You should not be too paranoid. And trust some people :P

Of course, don't go for casino ran by 2 posts / brand new members.

He brings up some good points though. If your going to invest in some form of gambling site you better darn know who and where it is located.

If only people that you know personally invest in your website, you will not receive a lot of money, and you won't become rich.
You should not invest in the first untrusted website that pop up. But you can invest in different place, even if you don't know the owner, if he seems trusted here.

Don't get me wrong the risk vs the reward is there on occasion but the average joe shouldn't consider such a venture even if it looks good on paper.

Who wants to invest in mine? I plan to put up one, but I don't have the coins to start it. I'm known, and if you come here, I'll buy you a beer (or other drink if you prefer non-alcoholic) and you can shake my hand.

If it doesn't click or get the required minimum, I will refund all coins.

His point is good because it's an easy ponzi to run. I would trust dooglus however because he has been on these boards a long time and does not fit the profile of scammer.

We should blame Samuel Colt for every murder by a gun, cause by him creating a gun, he is responsible. Dooglus created an idea he had for gambling, not his fault people have taken it and used it in a negative way.

I'd blame John Browning. Actually, most gun nuts worship him. 45 ACP 1911's are cooler than .38 Peacemakers. Okay, Off-topic. hehe.

Is this all because I banned you from typing everything in block capitals in the Just-Dice chat?

Just because a couple of copycat sites may have turned out to be scams (I'm not sure about casinobit - he may just be incompetent, I'm still not sure) doesn't mean it's a bad idea in general, any more than putting your coins on any other site.  Any exchange can run off with your coins, or any web wallet.  Any gambling site, whether they take "investments" or not can run off with client balances.  To single out gambling sites which allow investment seems a little weird.

Your argument could equally well be applied as follows:

mybitcoin was a scam wallet, so never trust inputs.io.

various bitcoin exchanges have run off with customer funds, so never trust mtgox.

In a similar way to how girls wearing short skirts are begging to be raped?  Got it.

Well, those girls probably know the risks, and that could be considered indecent, depending on the venue. On a nude beach, it's clothing optional. Out in the mall in public ... I already see everything so maybe girls with short skirts are not an issue. To me anyway.

Bitcoinsports.eu could be a ponzi but where is the proof? From what I've seen most people have been paid, just slowly. Does anyone know who and how much they currently owe?

Don't stop at just gambling sites. Investing with someone you don't know personally is always going to be risky.
