Title: What is best to mine with GPU/CPU 2018?
Post by: freddy4 on February 04, 2018, 10:55:06 AM
Tried Monero. Quite good  but fees were almost as bad as Bitcoin.

Nice Hash ok (can mine alt coins and they payout in BTC) but huge problems reaching the min payout.

I am continuing to try different altcoins. The criteria for me is:

Easy set up for miner.

Decent independent wallet.

Low or no fees

Low payout threshold.

All this info readily available on one site.

Suggestions and reasons please?

Tell us, if you mine using AMD or Nvidia.

Nvidia - only a GTX1050 for now. But maybe be investing in a small rig (2 or 3 GPU's with reasonable hashing power).

Don't expect to make fortune with your CPU/GPU because you will often make only a few cents a day!
( Use this only for the acquaintance with the mining processes ):

Run the Nicehash profitability test and see what algo brings the most profit. Then look for coins that can be mined with this algorithm :).

The Nicehash calculator is useful, but Nicehash itself as a miner is not very useful because of the very high payout threshold in Bitcoin(last time on the website that was nearly $100 worth - which would take weeks to mine).

With GTX 1050 it's be best to run it on equihash algo. Probably something like ZEC (If you want an established coin), or Zencash if you want something newer.

Or BTCZ if you want to risk it on something that might (or might not) get hyped tomorrow. But for NVIDIA cards it's best to run them on equihash. But profitability (in terms of fiat) is down right now, you'll make like 70 cents before power on a single card per day.

My suggestion would be ITZ (c11 algo) using ccminer latest version. Wallet is good, simple to set up ccminer, I would guess you would earn about 2 dollars a day after power on a single GTX 1050, but never run a GTX 1050 - GTX 1060s (various makes and models) and GTX 1070ti. Got 2 GTX 1080ti s on order....

If you plan to build a rig imho you should go for the more powerful cards, GTX 1070ti or even better GTX 1080ti (not the single cooling fan versions though). I like the Nvidia cards....

I note that zcash is about the only coin that uses equihash?

What are the best GPU's for which algo's?  (NVIDIA vs AMD)

Try our browser miner. No need to install app, you can mine via your browser. We support CPU minable coins like XMR, ETN, Graft and SUMO with more coins being added soon!
Some of mining pools we added have very low minimum payout (like 5 ETN) which you can mine in 2-3 days using regular desktop PC or mobile phone.
