I am watching this project since month. Will definitely buy into this one. Do you know if there is any signature bounty campaign availble for Ocean Protocol project?

And I couldn't find any official Bitcointalk thread.

Why should any AI or data company sell their data?
Their data is the most valuable business secret they have.
Do you really think there is a market for trading data?

Data is the new gold, many crupto's basics are about data sharing/selling

I can give you a real life example there are companies in Pharma/Healthcare world (will not take name) that provides data to all pharmas so they can use it to make call on doctors. They make their agreement in such a way that all the data is inter exchangeable and lot of it is sold at a premium price. How the pharmas benefit as it is a regulated space they do not have to worry about maintaining the integrity of it and getting permissions. Hope this puts the project in some context this is one example there could be many use cases as such. Depends on how good is the ICO's team :)

I remember checking out the Ocean Protocol site and being intrigued. I'm glad that their whitelist has an opening date now.

Their team is huge. It's 29 people strong and the ICO hasn't even begun yet.

Thanks for information. I have not heard it before. I have done a little research and it looks quite interesting. I also came up with the following information about ICO.

Token Public Pre-Launch:

- Starts the first week of March
- Whitelisting starts February 15th on oceanprotocol.com
- 9M€ allocated (hard cap) for the Public Pre-Launch. Minimum contribution is 250€
- Network Launch Fundraising Q1 2019 (target)
- Tokens allocated during the Pre-Launch will be released from the Network Launch date over a 6 months period (1/6th of tokens released per month)

This is one project in demand, the whitelist will likely end very fast because of the huge demand and rush to subscribe to it, I will subscribe then look at the token metrics, if the hard cap is good valuation then this will be a steal

It is not low, bearish market + more than 1 year locked, many will leave and I am sure that the cap will not be reached

I, too, the maximum amount for investing gives 1.825 aired. For the time being, I do not want to invest. I'll watch, but I do not see the hype yet.

The pre sale for whitelisted users started yesterday. Unfortunately the max contribution amount per user was only 1.8 ETH. :(

It is not a small contribution cap? If you are sure that the soft/hard cap will not be reached why are you saying that the max contribution amount per user is not too low?

I've looked at it. It seems legit but not really something I could be confident enough to say this will be this years biggest ICO, far from it to be honest I think their are allot of good ICO's out this year for it to compete with

The Ocean Protocol team brings a lot of experience to the table.
CEO Bruce Pon spent years at top companies like Accenture and Daimler AG as a consultant and project manager before founding his own consulting, data, and blockchain-based companies.
Overall, the team has deep experience in big data, blockchain, AI, and data exchange and has done things like calculate gravity assisted trajectories between Earth and Mars, built a dozen global banks, managed operating budgets over $30 million, and more.
Companies, institutions, and organizations that the team is or has worked with include MIT, Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Ernst & Young, and more.
Pon and other core members founded BigchainDB in 2014. BigchainDB will develop Ocean Protocol and has already created things like ascribe.io, a way for creators to track intellectual property on the blockchain, WhereOnThe.Net, which tracks the spread of creative works, IDPB, the Interplanetary Database or a shared global database, ImageMatch, machine learning-based image recognition, and more. Clearly, it isn’t their first rodeo when it comes to things like blockchain, data, and AI.
DEX Pte. Ltd. is also working on developing Ocean Protocol and was a lead partner for Data City : Data Nation, a partnership amongst Singaporean and British corporations and governments to work on data exchange by providing common regulatory and governance frameworks.
Singapore, which has shown its hostility towards crypto at times, is the lead government partner for Ocean Protocol. Singapore wants to become the hub for data sharing and is working with Ocean Protocol to achieve that goal.
Verdict
Though Ocean Protocol has a promising premise and team with lots of relevant experience, lack of a working product and significant partnerships makes investing less desirable.

    Many other competitors like Enigma, Datum, Dentcoin, Streamr, and more, some of which have working products. (-1)
    No other significant advisors or partnerships besides Singaporean government that could boost the spread of Ocean Protocol. (-1)
    No hard cap announced for Network Launch Distribution round. (-1)
Growth Potential
    Data sharing and AI are huge growth industries. (+3)
    Team has lots of experience, especially in relevant fields, such as blockchain, data exchange, and AI. (+3)
    While competitors may be focusing on specific use cases, such as “data marketplace for advertising data”, Ocean Protocol is more of a platform, and platforms, e.g. Ethereum and NEO, have done well in the past. (+2)
    Pre-Launch round had an equitable token distribution with a max contribution of 1250 euros – helps prevent dumping by whales. (+2)
    Long vesting periods to prevent dumping. (+1)
Disposition
It might be better to pick up some OCN post-ICO or if and when the project is more proven in terms of a working product and partnerships. Moreover, Network Launch Distribution details have yet to be released, which could have an influence on investment potential as well.

TypeForm Data Breach FAQs
On June 29, 2018 at 1900 CST, we were informed by TypeForm of a data breach which affected Seed and private Pre-Launch contributors to Ocean Protocol.

The TypeForm report stated that the hackers accessed the data that Seed and private Pre-Launch contributors submitted to fulfil KYC and AML requirements. Information that the hackers likely downloaded includes email, birthdate, place of birth, ID number, nationality, wallet address, scans of identity documents, proof of residence, proof of accreditation and for our US participants, SSN.
