There is a noticable freeze when using Electrum 1.8.1 on Mac OSX. The freeze occurs after launching electrum, and immediately attempting to switch mode (if you start in full, go lite - if you start lite, go full). Reproducable every time, usually have to quit the wallet and re-launch in order to see the mode I was attempting to enter. What I do is to go to the menu bar and hit the About Electrum option and it switches.
