Overview
Cryptocurrencies today have adoption and scalability challenges.

Adoption
There are 3.77B Internet users and 5.8M cryptocurency users. While very few people know how to mine Bitcoin or install a software wallet,

Scalability

In order to solve scalability issues RaiLight implements RaiBlocks Protocol. RaiBlocks is a low-latency cryptocurrency built on an innovative block-lattice data structure offering scalability and no transaction fees.

Technology
RaiLight uses the latest Browser technologies eg: WebRTC, IndexedDB, .etc to implement a browser native cryptocurrency creating a truly cross device payment solution featuring: easy to use and simple UI, with no technical jargon, bundling all its structural components (wallet, payments, transactions) into the web.

Development
RaiLight fosters a multi-stakeholder development ecosystem that welcomes and empowers participants who want to improve on existing features or build new tools. Anyone can submit feature proposals, and developers will be paid for their work to fulfill requirements in full view of the community. Funding for this work comes directly from the development fund we will set up in the future

Who works on RaiLight?
RaiLight will operate through a contractor model that allows for new individuals or groups, to contribute to the project. As stated RaiLight’s community will play an important role in making decisions, both informally via our official channels of communication/polls and formally via the blockchain & improving,contributing new features for the project.

At present, RaiLight consists of a small but increasing number of core developers who work on the project:

• 2 core developers who actively contribute new code, will maintain future code, and implement roadmap features in RaiLight's free and open-source software and repositories.
• 1 marketing/community helper who develop a number of clearly defined areas for RailLight: (1) advertising, (2) media, (3) networking, (4) platform management, and (5) special projects.
• 1 designer work alongside the developers and marketing contractors to develop solutions in disciplines of (1) UX/UI, (2) identity, and (3) visual communications.

We need all hands on deck, to be more agile and build this project faster and better. So if you are a javascript/nodejs/C++ developer;  a marketer, designer please pm us,we will make it worth your while.

RaiLight is looking to build a layered governance organization that extends beyond the core developers, focusing on a community-centric decision making model,which will bring forward and represent insider and outsider voices in the community. Hello manfromafar,

That's a great question and I see your concerns.
We do not use a central web server to store anything. That would be no secure "decentralized" cryptocurrency in any way.

What we mean is you don't have to download/install a client to use the currency. The browser becomes the client/wallet.

The behavior is roughly similar to how MyEtherWallet works in the browser. The encrypted private key is uploaded/input by the user and is used only locally to sign and send transactions, is not sent over the internet or stored on a web server.

But while MyEtherWallet is a wallet that you can access at a specific address only https://myetherwallet.com. What we aim is that any website that wants to enable payments on its page can include our js library and allow users to pay with RaiLight.

I see your trying to create the build from Windows. Some additional packages are needed for Windows platform. At what step command you encountered that error?
Have you ran:  npm install --global --production windows-build-tools before npm install command?

Airdrop is a good method to attract more attention from public to your project.

BUT, please not use refferal method which will negatively impact th e project development.

thanks for flagging this. On your environment one of our dependecies has a bug https://github.com/Marak/colors.js/issues/137. We released a workaround.
The project is work in progress, please open issues on Github for any more problems. It's easier for project management purposes.

As for the windows GUI wallet. We are tired of installing multiple desktop gui wallets for every cryptocurrency. That is why we make  RaiLight browser native, meaning the wallet will be accessed from the browser. Those who really want a desktop app, an Electron wrapper over a RaiLight wallet can be easily implemented.

The errors you highlighted is because the domain railight.ddns.net cannot be reached publicly. Is binded in our our dev environments only at the moment.

Different errors, bugs - are part of any product development journey, so we would ask at the moment to exert patience,show the same kind of feedback, but you should let us handle the errors, bugs etc. If you want to take a stab at it, let s work together faster, better in a more suitable discussion channel - join the slack group, you will reach us faster there.

is the wallet being accessible or not ??? ??? if it is accessible can you provide the guide how to access it,since you said it is a new type/tech wallet

There's no wallet, at the moment you can subscribe on http://railight.org and be notified when it goes live.

For testing and development you can install it on a local machine, from the git repository.

RaiLight - i do see a lot of references and comparison with the RaiBlocks in the draft Whitepaper. Will this be a copy/paste of RaiBlocks with some changes perhaps as "added features"?

When live, the wallet will be on your browser, not in a centralized server.

As for ICO or mineable, this is up for debate with the community, as stated in the end of the first post in the thread. Voice your opinion on how you think it should be distributed. The devs are here to listen what the users want.

For the distribution I would say to do a KYC registered Airdrop to get publicity and easy adoption throughout the community. It should still be decided who can participate in such an Airdrop. Either make it uncapped and distribute a given amount set prior to the airdrop or cap the amount of persons who can participate. KYC would also prevent whales from stacking up a large amount of RaiLight.

Another option would be an ICO which would definitely help you guys for initial funding. I would then recommend to distribute at least a portion bounties and airdrops.

They are planning to customise the existing raiblock protocol for use on a solely web-based environment. It's interesting and I'm going to be following to see the progress as well as method of distribution given that it is supposed to be POS only.

I just read the whitepaper. It is really interesting and really exciting. You guys really are trying to solve some huge technical problems in crypto and i really hope that you are successful. I am also happy to see your professionalism, so many other DAG projects demand donations. You guys are just working hard on delivering code and you already have explained some complex concepts really well in the whitepaper.

The main reason for writing this message is to respond to your request for ideas on the best distribution method for the tokens. In my experience the best method that works is usually a ECR token airdrop early on in the project followed by a token swap later on once the project launches.  FUD is a huge problem in bitcointalk forums and crypto in general, I have seen teams that delay the distribution get unfair abuse and general vitriol. By creating an ECR token early on and airdropping the tokens you not only reward those who believed in the project when it first started but you also save yourself a lot of stress from fudsters and this will allow you to focus fully on development. Once you finish development, all you have left to do is a token swap. Many projects have taken this approach, it seems to work really well. Coding a Ecr token is really easy and takes less than a day. From my experience, airdropping now will save you a lot of stress later. Thats my 2 cents.

At the moment it looks like you took basic concept from Raiblock and taking the whole concept to one step ahead. This browser thing sounds interesting but will need to see whitepaper and technical aspects to understand the approach to deliver this type of technology. I am here to see what is coming out more.

the fork of RaiBlocks now re branded to Nano with Web wallet, I thought they do have web wallet. Not clear what extra this project is simplifying. Anyways there is so many projects floating around RaiBlocks success.

I will follow the project for now see what all it will unfold in coming days. I really think it's too early for speaking about distribution if you think other way. ERC20 Token Airdrop might great idea.

I do notice this is team started finishing product without trying to ask for donations and planning to Airdrop/Faucet distribution like RaiBlocks done, I wish the team a big success with RaiLights.

on the topic of distribution, a small airdrop and faucets would be a nice way to get people involved and understand the 'light' browser based mechanism.
When you have sufficient people using it, you can either approach some private investors for funding.

I would also think instead of ICO maybe a PoW/PoS coin.

The recent project have shifted to ICO so much that now personally i feel we need to balance lol. Also much more regulations and things come in with ICO.

Well BAT (Basic attention token) might be on the fore front in that use case i would say. They are integrated with Brave browser with a team of established devs.
Ofcourse this doesn't necessarily mean you cant have the same.

Also two things, either it is solution for a existing problem ("bleeding neck") or a potential solution for a problem which people have yet to notice. most of the business models are based as such.

A fair distribution using registration method on this forum with minimum rank of member and above will eliminate abuse. I will not suggest off the forum other methods or open distribution where anyone can participate using em-mail or social media account. This forum's ranking system can be helpful for fair and transparent distribution.

It is not a fair method of distribution, it would put Ralight in the hands of few users, Faucet has some problems but creates an active community, just like Rablocks, in Brazil we have a Nano facebook group with 14400 members, faucet will move the market.

I agree that its not completely fair on the newbies.
Try to avoid distribution just based on ranking system.

The distribution can be done in multiple way and not just stick to one. for eg. faucets for everyone and airdrops for certain minimum member rank.
the balance needs to be decided by the dev, because honestly even higher member are just flippers and dumpers.. thus ruining the market.

Hope distribution thru Faucets, Airdrop and keep the Token max supply to same as NANO 133 Mil

It's pretty new project started couple of weeks back, There will not be any ICO distribution will be most likely Faucet, Airdrop and Bounty's ETC.

I believe that the devs are willing to make a new payment system that ought to be a way better then the existing one, but also I understand how challenging this task is! With all the economical end political issues, it won't be simple.
