So many times we hear HODL and when asked, not many know what it really meant.  Usual answer is a mis-spelled HOLD that got accepted (close but not the real origin).

HODL = Hold On for Dear Life

Anyway, HODL is the best advise when we have a crash like this.  Very appropriate too! :D

Yes. Never sell for a loss. What's the point in that? If you can't wait a couple weeks for the price to come back up, you shouldn't be investing in something anyways. Always just wait it out. This has already happened so many times it's not even funny and we've recovered every time.

When i started to say hodl my coins , all the coins are going deep. And i said hodl again they gone more deep. I am saying hodl now. I can not sell my coins with this price. I will hodl compulsorily.

LOL don't see hodl then because your coins seem allergic to that word..haha anyways, kidding aside, these are really hard and trying times especially for the newcomers in the cryptocurrency and they are greeted with fear and anxiety with the price going down to most coins apart from bitcoin.

The feeling of fear is valid but they should stick and hang out with resilient and positive members of the forum to get some motivation and hope so they won't end up selling and not hodling (hope I spelled it right :D)

Every extremity is bad. Hold or not. Fanatics, etc.

Use your brain on every decision you take. Don't blindly follow 'a strategy' or gurus.

At the moment it is hodl if you don't care about losing money. Hodl if you are winning more money is better.

Im getting too worried right now, i thought btc is back again ehen the price bounce to $9000 but now dipping all the way down to $7000, i think i cant hold it anymore when it dips even lower.

Well, hodl is the best solution to these cryptocurrency. We might sell when we see green and when it reaches our own goal.

The market seems too bad for us.. what we need right now is HODL, no matter good or bad condition is. Still remember that from this early age up to the next few years to come, you'll no be worrying about your future.

I disagree with you OP because Hodl is a slang used in the bitcoin world and it simply means hold onto your bitcoin rather than selling it.

for me hold is the best option and let its value continue to decline, it can even be worthless. than I had to sell and only received 20%-30% of my initial capital.

hold: the price goes down, it may be worthless, but we still have the goods or its assets (tokens).
sell: capital can be back, but not in accordance with initial capital and we have no goods or assets anymore.

Maybe, LOL ... FUD is just a Tether trash.

If we can`t buy, HODL and make positive speculation about bitcoin in social networking is an effective way, use your time as best as possible to create a more positive work.


You are right, maybe the exact term is' Do as long as we can control it'.

But this meme can help newcomers understand crypto more easily by explaining it technically means hold on for dear life. It has a better ring to it rather than the odd random forum misspell story.

While I HODLing, I usually buy the dip. It like guaranteed profit when it goes,but that dip can go to a lower dip. Something like what been going on the last 2 months.

The title of this thread charmed me. Haha. Yeah, I've lost a good part of my investment, but I'm confident that it will come back and then some. Right now is shopping season, and I'm optimistic about the future gains that I'll have.

Just hodling is not always the best strategy. If u really believe the market will fall further, it's better to sell and buy at a lower price. I sold a lot of my funds when btc was at 8k, and bought again today, so that I could accumulate more coins. Obviously, getting the timing of this is pretty difficult, so hodling is usually the best strategy, but not always.

If you HODL you will lose everything. These coins will not be even useful for showcasing, forget about getting 1cent for 1btc.

who wants, - holds coins, who wants, - sell.
and someone just looks at what happens to the market.
maybe the price will continue to fall.

Lol, you are making the situation right now light and not so stressful bro. Hodl that rope tight and never lose the grip. They say that better to sell now while you still can but i think it's better to lose all if the situation got worst which i think would not happen. :)

HODL - don't lose your money . Wait for the right time to sell your coins. It's worth the wait. It's only for the meantime. I've read an article about predictions for digital currencies in 2018 and that includes a stomach-churning drops and wild roller coaster ride.

Yes it is better to hodl these days, looking at the crypto chart every minute will not help you. It would be better to lock your coins in your wallet and then get some well deserve vacation hoping by the time you get back everything is already good.

Well you are right on the times like this HODLERS always the winners because if you do panic sell you will lose forever unless you are very good on trading which can you do a scalp trade so you can recover your losses but if not just HODL.

I think the saying "what goes down must come up" applies to what we are seeing in the market right now. I have no plans on selling anything at these prices, and strongly believe things will begin to rebound. May cooler heads prevail, good luck to us all.

Oh, really? I thought it was Hold On, Detonate Later ;) I'm actually feeling quite good about these downturns. I experienced a little last year but nothing compared to this. A lot of my "friends" who got into crypto are worried, some have cut their losses and the others are just in hiding, something of regret and shame for asking others to get into it with everything. It made me realise us holders actually aren't that common, so I feel a little special right now! Enjoying it while it lasts. The crowd will return of course when Bitcoin recovers.

But is that a better strategy than just doing nothing? Usually the effort isn't worth it. You would be anxious about recovering your losses, and risk losing big, when instead you can just sit back, do nothing, and wait for the value of your investments to rise to profitable levels again.

Hold is never a good idea. Try to look at how the coin is being developed and how good the coin is. If you are holding a bad coin, do not hold it. It can totally destroy you and your money. Be smart ;) Dont be to greedy. You must learn how to accept loss and then you will be able to earn a lot of money

Oh so this is the real meaning of hodl  i think someone who famous that mispelled the real meaning of hold so it is the real meaning of hodl now i know. This meaning was same of the word hold and this is right if the value or cryptocurrency was falling down don't panic selling just hold and al invest for the future rising of the bitcoin.
