Title: FS: 2003 Suzuki SV650S Located in Wisconsin (SOLD)
Post by: SardonicJester on September 06, 2013, 01:08:18 PM
Looking to sell my 2003 SV650S motorcycle for cash/BTC/LTC/VTC.
The bike is located in Franklin, Wisconsin (53132).

The bike runs great and is a lot of fun, but I am looking to put the money into car parts.
I don't get to ride it nearly as often as I would like.

The bike went in late last year for routine maintenance (change plugs, tires, sprockets, chain) and to replace the radiator and fan assembly, which I have the receipt for. (Motorcycle was dropped by previous owner)
The bike is 100% functional and I ride it every chance I get.
There is some cosmetic damage to the front and rear fairings, one of the bar ends is missing, one of the frame covers is missing, and it has a little beat up shift lever. (See pictures)

Looking to get ~$2,500 for the bike. ($2,750 including a jacket, kevlar jeans, moto shoes, helmet, gloves, and cover)

((Ticker removed))

If you are interested or having any questions (Or if I missed any important pieces of information), post here or PM me.

Information on bike:

It really depends on what you have to trade. (Stuff would have to be pretty good for me to drive down to Chicago)

Kind of interested but as you know bike weather is pretty much gone  :(

All depends on what kind of weather you like to ride in.
To me, here in Wisconsin we have about another 2-2 1/2 months worth of riding time.
(I enjoy fall the best for riding, not hot to the point you feel like you are sitting on a grill, but also not cold enough to where you can't feel your extremities)

This is a great bike for someone starting out or for someone getting back into riding.

For anyone that is not looking to store the bike over the winter, I am willing to make a deal to keep it in my garage until spring. (Would just ask for down payment)

Bump for a really nice starter bike, I learned everything I know on a 06 650!

Most people probably want a super sport inline, but from experience I'm still kinda bummed I sold the 650 for one. You can romp on the 650 and keep it somewhat legal, not so with the race replicas.

If I were any closer to you I'd be interested  ;D

Thanks for the bump.

This is my first bike also. Very happy I chose it. (Did quite a bit of research trying to find the "best" starter bike and the SV650 was always one of the bikes mentioned)
It was very easy to learn on, has a huge online community if you ever need help (I like svrider.com the best), and has enough power to keep me interested passed my "learning" phase.
It also is super cheap to insure since it is a "standard" bike.

I would keep it if I had the time to actually ride it. But I need to haul too much stuff with me on a daily basis to fit it all in a backpack.
So unfortunately it spends much of the time just sitting in the garage. Would much rather someone else get use out of it.

Thanks.

Nope, still available.
I think people don't like the fact that it is not in perfect cosmetic condition. (I know I was hesitant when I was first looking)
But after I thought about it, I didn't want to buy a cosmetically perfect bike. Since it was my first bike, I figured there was a pretty good chance of me dumping/tipping it, so I didn't mind if it already had a few bumps and scratches. (Luckily I never actually dumped/tipped/scratched it, but it made me feel better that if I were to ever damage it at all, that it was already a little on the rough side)

*Updated Price*

I would consider buying it if you were located in Central Europe ;)

Got one bike already but need something that's more suitable for normal roads/highways.

Haha. Well shipping to Europe would only double the price.  ::)

What bike do you currently have?
(That's the kind of driving a normally do, about 20 miles each way on the highway to and from work. Then on good weekends, when I'm not busy, I can hit some of the twisty country roads a little further northwest of me)

Yeah... unfortunately no one's selling any bikes for BTC where I live   :(

I'm actually quite surprised how few people are selling bikes for BTC (or any coins for that matter).
To me they seem like a great price point to get into coins or get more coins.
They are not so cheap that you are only getting a coin or two.
But they are also not too expensive, so if the price of coin plummets for whatever reason - you aren't going to be living on the streets in a box. haha.

Personally I couldn't sell my home for coins. I don't have the money to replace it in case something bad happens with coins. Too big of a risk for me.
But I feel that motorcycles or anything else in the 2-10k range are things that quite a few people can afford to "play" with.

QFT. Haha.

I am planning on fixing up a few of the small things before spring.

Replacing the shift lever. (The one on it is fully functional and the only one that's been on it for as long as I have owned the bike, but it is kind of junky. So I figure I'll replace it since it's cheap)

Replacing the right side frame cover. (Just a black piece of plastic which you can see in the pictures that is missing. The one screw that was there stripped so I ended cracking the frame cover when getting it off. Again, it's cheap so I might as well replace it.)

Other than that, and the cosmetic fairing damage, it is a great bike. I just don't have the time to ride it as much as I'd like. :/

I will bid 2.9 you have a trailer with it?

Thank you for the bid!
It is little lower than I would like to take for the bike right now though.
(Sorry for the ticker on the first page. It is a little deceiving since it takes Mt.Gox price, which is about $100 over everyone else.)

No, I do not have a trailer.
So buyer would either need to have a trailer to pick it up or would have to ride it home (what I did when I purchased it).

If I get an offer that I am willing to take now, and buyer does not have a trailer, I would not mind keeping it in my garage until buyer can come get it in spring.
(Offer would have to be at least 3k. 2,750 for bike and I would just consider the extra 250 rent for garage storage)

A SV isn't worth that, not in that shape, and I love the things!

I sold mine for well under what you are asking, with a lot less miles and a lot more done to it two years ago. If you would take $2000 I would send you a boatload of LTC right now, but I doubt that would fly.

Good luck with the sale.

Thank you for the offer.
Yea. That is too low for me right now. Maybe $2500 if bought and picked up this weekend, but I can't do $2000.

I gave up on using KBB for motorcycles. Before I bought this bike I checked KBB against every bike I saw and KBB was always quite a bit lower than all of them. (from Dealers and Owners)

Right now, you are correct. My price is probably a little high since it can't actually be ridden.
But once spring rolls around, and everyone else's prices start to rise (which they always do around spring), I know it will sell quickly for my asking price locally.

Weather is starting to warm up and I have been getting quite a bit of response from Craigslist.

So I figured I would bump it up here again.

MISC answers from inquiries:

Yes, it is still available.

Sorry, price is really not negotiable on the bike. I may be willing to throw in the gear with it, but price for the bike is firm. (KBB assumes it has over 20K miles)

I would have to check when I get home to get the actual sizes of the gear is, but I believe I purchased Mediums for everything and size 11 shoes. (I am 6'1", 180lbs, and everything fit fine. Jacket is a little on the smaller side than I like, but it worked)

Title is clear.

Any known issues are cosmetic. (As can be seen in the pictures)
Some rashes on the fairings
Missing 1 bar end (Roughly $15 to get 2 new ones)
Missing 1 frame cover ($44 if bought from OEM seller. Just a piece of plastic)
Makeshift shift lever (works fine, I never bothered to change it. Roughly $15 for a new one)

I had fixed the Green Connector issue that is extremely common on the SV650S. (http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210993&highlight=)
((The pics in the first pic are of this bike. I have not had any issues since it was repaired))
I also had it fixed up by Road Track & Trail for damage that was initially there when I bought it. (Bent radiator, needed new fan assembly)
I have the receipt for this.

Bike has never been dropped, set down, etc. by me. Any and all damage was there when I bought it and has not had any impact on drivability (minus the green connector thing).
I installed the frame sliders and tank grips practically when I bought it. (Was my first bike so wanted to make sure to try and protect it a little in case of accidents)

I started it up and ran it for a few minutes about a week ago. (Somebody else was going to come and see it)

Yes it does come with the rear seat

No I do not have a trailer for it.

Regarding price: It is pretty firm. I am already taking a loss due to the maintenance/parts I put into it (mainly the radiator.....). I would keep it if I had the time to ride it. Unfortunately I usually have to take too much stuff with me to work everyday, so I am stuck taking the car.
