Title: What was your worst crypto call?
Post by: Wookii on February 06, 2018, 05:49:10 AM
Hello everyone!

Out of curiosity, I wanted to ask you all, what was your worst call in your crypto history? Did you buy an ICO and it was a scam? Or did you think, that your market analysis is top notch, just to fall on your mouth hard? Share you story with me!

I will start. When i first got into crypto, it was around the time everything was peaking. I also checked coinmarkets a lot and i saw some huge day gain winners. I knew quite some things about BTC, a little bit about altcoins and i was ready to get into action. I thought i know everyhing needed for day trading... Except the most improtant part of day trading... Pump and dump... Sooo i saw this gigantic +1500% coin called RUPX... It was not stopping, doing +1800% and so on and i jsut wanted to get on that train. So i fastly authenticated my Coinbase and send in +/- 300$. By the time everything was ready for buy, RUPX already did like +3000% . Now you will most likely hit your head saying "what a frikin' noob" but i bought at that time. And boy, did it hurt just few minutes later when the Pump stopped... At one point, i was -95% on my investment and I was panicking quite a lot... But i did not sell and thankfully, i managed to get out with 220$ few weeks later and bought into BTS. In the end BTS managed to make me 2,5x profit. Anyhow, that was hard introduction into crypto trading universe!

So what about you? What is your story?

My worst call in my crypto history is investing on coins I read on the internet then lately, I found out the coin I invested upon was just a pump and dump scheme and I suffered a great loss from it.

When I first heard about cryptocurrencies, it was Ripple that the guys were discussing. They encouraged me to get some and I registered on poloniex, funded my wallet and got some. His preaching was how XRP  was going to hit a dollar bill in a weeks time so he encouraged me to holdl. Little did I know about crypto so I was holdling. XRP did ×2 from my entry he still said holdl. I held for a long time and it dropped hard. The worst part was I panick sold and lost almost all my funds. After a while that I sold, the market started recovering but it was already late for me as I sold at a very big loss. I learnt the hard way.

Oh boy thats quite a bad start, but what i have experience is better, when i bought a couple of bitcoin's last year at $1500 for 15pcs and i managed to trade it with some alts giving me a lot of gains which turned to 52+ bitcoins in just 8months,the only worst thing i have experienced isnt selling them when it reaches $15k-20k levels which because i believed in cryptocurrency's future now the worst case scenario today bitcoin might reach my buying point last year if the last hard support at $5k will broke that confirms the fall of bitcoin.

I bought Vechain cheap and sold it at x30 and the income was totally spent on rising KCS at $18 and now look where it is heading.
Moral Never ever invest in a rising coin.

Pump and dump coins is the worst buy in that can happen to anyone as this coins tends not to recover and investors runs away from it making its liquidity very low and recovery sometimes taking forever or never happening at all. It's always good to stay away from such coins as often as wee can.

My worst crypto call was not selling my coins while it was surging and now I regret because last First week of January the price was $4.8 then after 4 weeks it dropped worst as low as $0.30, from an asset of $150,000 last 4 weeks then down to $15,000 today.
I know this is only a test of my patience because I'm a patient guy and I just want to hold and hang on because I know it will pump up soon because the project was amazing ang investors will come after the launch.

I think so far, my worst move was joining the band wagon to buy NXT on hitbtc in anticipation for IGNIS airdrops that will be distributed to NXT holders. NXT dumped really hard just before the snapshot of the block. I consoled myself with the then value of IGNIS futures. Weeks later after IGNIS also dropped hard in value I am yet to get IGNIS in my hitbtc account. I lost both ways!

You have to holdl. Prices will go back up after the market corrections. Sorry about your huge loss already. Be patient more, it will all be a story soon.

Investing in the mobilego ICO has not been profitable, it did go above ico price in terms of fiat value but no where near in BTC value. Lots of unhappy investors still screaming at the MGO team. If you buy now though, you can grab a bargain as the price will surely rise. New mobile gaming store opening in a few weeks so might be able to make a profit when that happens, but it's still not listed on a major exchange, just the smallish ones.

I bought MobileGo when it was at the bottom, as I expected. But it went even deeper and deeper :)

But the worst projects I supose those who was holding intrige during 2-3 months and then closed ICO without main tokensale due to Ethereum price growth. Like it was with Pryze, Nucleus, Theta and some other projects. I really hate this!

if you are a person who likes Ripple, what is your opinion about Ripple? does altcoin Ripple have a good growth and plan? and how did your attitude after yesterday the founder of the Ripple currency lost 580 trillion?

because now I'm getting interested in Ripple?

My worst crypto call was to buy 10K PRL @ 3 USD... But I still believe that Oyster Peal is a great project. I'm just a little frustrated that Devs are working hard and the price is still ~60 cents.

LOL did you spent all of your profit to the KCS? You're getting a big lost my friend. It decreases about up to 70% from your rate. Crypto is driving by hype if we are seeing the fact that so many experts are saying about that. And finally to buy those coins at peak just like a big betting on the casino. There is no different between it.
My friend lost a lot too.

Don't dwell on the past and concentrate on the future.  Learn from your mistakes and make better decisions from them.  There are no missed opportunities because new opportunities open up daily in the crytpo world.

Buying TRON at .20C AUD was a terrible choice of mine!

Buying ICON recently at $11AUD was another not so great choice but unlike TRON ICON actually has a bright future. TRON is just some random asian dude that talks complete rubbish....

I think you are rich man. Have more 50 bitcoins? Its a lot of money.
You are good at the start, only have 15 bitcoin and you grow your capital into 52. Amazing.
