In my portfolio I have ETH, NEO, QTUM. As for WAVES, I treat it with caution, although I believe the coin has a potential.
But recently I've allocated about 50% of my portfolio to rating ICO and ICO of little-known coins with high potential.

Neo! Now all the Crypto currency is cheap and it means they can be bought advantageously. I can advise still Snov, Doge, very promising NEO.  They see NEO in the same perspective as ETH

I dont understand technically but GVT has good project and increasing value.  It has risen quickly since I bought it, but it never returned to its old price.

ranking altcoins based on rate is not a good method actually. Rates fluctuate every day. Even a good development or a fake news can make large market fluctuations. Go with coins that got more features, fast, secure, anonymous, decentralized. Never make a decision by checking green or red in the market graphs.

I don't think that there is a 100% accurate answer or definition for the best altcoin or cryptocurrency in general. It depends on the needs of the user, the budget, the preferences and, of course, the potential that the cryptocurrency has for further growth.  ;)

For example, some users like ETH, because it has the smart contracts, which give the software developers the ability to design algorithms that may serve their needs the way they agree upon.

Some users like LTC and think it's the best, because it's pretty much like BTC, but is much more cheaper and easier to acquire and store (and transfer).

Some users like XMR, because they want their online activities to be tracked at all, and XMR has the full potential for that!

Some other users may prefer XRP, considering its potential of making global transactions much more faster and cheaper.

To me, for example, all of the features mentioned above are very important, so I like all of the those coins because of their different abilities and characteristics. So it would be hard for me stay which of them is the best, because they are all equally great in their respective fields!  :)

Yes but you must predict how much will currencies keep falling. If you sell altcoins for tether - you can profit only if they keep falling. But if they start rising you could end up losing money.

Not only Etherum was affected with price drop. I think it was kind of the chain reaction that affected majority of altcoins and bitcoin.
But Ethereum is still the best altcoin to my opinion and worth investing. The price will recover, this will not be permanent.

My choice for the best altcoin would be Ethereum its because the market price movement trend looks very stable than the other altcoins in the current market. Therefore, since you didn't put a criteria on your question, then I would choose and side with Ethereum. Its value has been quite stable, and the best part about it is the fact that it endured all of the market changes through the years.

It doesn't really work like that. If a coin doesn't go down much, then it also doesn't go up much. You're talking about something with relatively high stability. At the moment bitcoin can swing the whole market. Presumably individual coin prices will decouple from bitcoin as the market matures, but judging by the market over the last two months, we're a long way from that happening.

For me, I really loved ethereum, which is the next in line with bitcoin providing a high profit too, with stable characteristic that bitcoin didn't has. I also loved hedge, and lion coin. But then of course different altcoin has their different characteristics that makes them also differ from each one another.

Why I would consider Tether as one of the best altcoin it's because its price value is prominently stabilizing and I think
this altcoin would make it great soon the future. The main advantage for this coin is the stability and sense of trust because it's value is not worthless just like the other cryptocurrencies. Although its not that cheap, this altcoin  has a unique trading point of real currency backing it. I would consider this coin as the safest bet if you will go for a long term investment to actually used the benefits of a decentralized ecconomy. Waves and Ripple is the best altcoins if the market goes red. yet is not untouchable to also go down. All coins goes down but the one that is still stable after downward trend is the best , that is why I think is waves and ripple.

I'll be honest here, the best alternative coin for me is the Ethereum and Ripple because of its potential. The Ethereum is what ICO prefer the most because the value of it is next to bitcoin. I also like Ripple because it is proven the availability of transactions, however, I never heard from my friends that they experienced Ripple for transactions.

ETH is still the Best alt coin out there. we cannot predict or guarantee that its prices wont fall when BTC's takes a deep but, its more stable with a stronger market presence as compared to other altcoins available. it has a better and promising future too.

The best Altcoin IMO (regardless of the price) is Ethereum. Basically it is in another league compared to bitcoin and is the progenitor of all Tokens with its smart contract implementation. It has one of the most active developers out there too and is continuously evolving.
