I’ve had 5k US sitting on the bench watching and waiting for the right time to get in. Seems like the time is here.
Been researching projects and narrowed them down to these FOR LONG TERM HOLDS.
ETH ,VEN ,XLM ,IOTA ,NEO ,OMG ,ICX ,LISK ,WTC

I m looking on Waves, SIA, ADA, XEM. Hope they will bounce very good. There are good news about LTC. IMHO it can make big green candle too. Buy more eth to participate new ICOs)

VEN may not be a good choice, because there's a lot of bad news about it.
I think you can look at the GXS,Thekey, QTUM and these are some of the good choices.

You really did a good research about it. Thumbs up sir! But why you didn't list or consider to buy a bitcoin also? its a good to buy right now.

I would consider swapping out IOTA for XRB, but otherwise a very solid portfolio for a long term hold.

in my opinion, IOTA, ETH and OMG are potential to buy now. Their price have fallen down very much and they are at the bottom. So, let's buy them immediately and wait for few months.

Thise coins is great to hold for long period of time, much better if you divide your 5k usd in those coins. You have lot of option to sell when you see good profit. Dont put that all amount in one coin it is very risky learn how to do short term trading it would gives you better profit also.

Nice choise but I would remove LISK and XLM  because they are old coins which already done their price up.

ETH,NEO,OMG,these sre my top 3 ling holdings which i burried in my hardwallet few months ago,surely my hardwallet will have millions of dollars 2-3years from now because i believe in the technology behind these three can make the world better in the future,plus they have a solid platform whicn makes them special.

it's very interesting and I agree if I have to hold back all the altcoins I've had and I've collected all along. maybe the only way for now is to follow an ico.

I don't think that time has already come, there will be another drop down. According to my experience there is a very low chance to get in at the very bottom. That is why I cash in with many buy orders in some range but not the only one at the very low. You have a pretty good list of coins so it would be great to diversify your capital between them.

Since you want to invest on the crypto currency first time this is the perfect time buddy. Whatever price falls there are many supporters who are all wait and keep on looking for price increase in all the cryptos. So whatever corporates and banks do for bitcoin and alts. They will recover and boom back that is fate too.
Erase VEN along in this list and invest on any coins in your post. All have the potential to bump more in the marketplace.

Thoughts? You really realized their is a right time generally as exact given time? As long as you can afford to buy at any current price rate, then buy at your own risks.

With the current price decrease that started days ago, we can considered this as great tyming. But if that is really the right time? We don't know because in the end, the result of our investment will not just depend on what price we able to buy those coins but how we play it right using our respective strategy that will be applied the moment we invested on coins.

I don't think that we will fall under 6k$. You never know where the dip is. By the way, this is good time to join. I wish you luck:)

I would suggest that you should stick with the solid coins like ethereum,neo and omg,these are the ones which will recover fast after the bloodbath,because these coins has solid platform and has goos.community too.When tbe times like this we need to pick only those worthy coins which wont fail even the BTC has failed.

You did a good research for choosing coins for long term holds. Did you accidentally missed bitcoin or you didn't include that to your long term hold portfolio? Don't wait for further movement while you can see them at dip and you are confident of buying them now, do the initiative. When it was at peak many are saying including me that its the best time to get in but now it certainly and without a doubt that this time is the best time to get in.

I would recommend eth, iota and neo among the coins you've chosen and yes, now seems to be a very good time, the prices started growing already (perhaps, temporarily, though). Lisk is not so bad as well. I don't think ven is that good, it seems to just have a lot of money invested in advertising. I would say it is rather potentially profitable short-term. OMG seems pretty legit and it could work as they have Vitalik as their adviser.  You might reconsider investing in the remaining three coins as well.

now we have to hold altcoin for our benefit, I see many are worried about the current problems. if I myself am already familiar with this and this thing I think is reasonable.

When you wanted to invest it is the best to get in it is the matter of choosing the worthy coins to invest. Like in bitcoin price drops so low, so buy as much as you can. Just diversify your funds into different coins that has the best that will give return of profit.

Interesting. What exactly is the right time to get into crypto according to you? You must understand that the crypto market is an extremely volatile market where any coin may skyrocket in value or lose value out of the blue without any specific reason which is why there is no right time to get get into the crypto field. It all depends on research and look at the end of the day. You must also be willing to lose the money which you invested into the crypto market due to the risk involved with this volatile market.

Now is a good time to enter the market and in your place I bought BTZ as well as ETH they are the basis of the market and will always be in the trend

For now the price of all crypto currency is falling 20% everyday so are you sure you want to invest now?

If you are still then buy ethereum for all your investment because it is very cheaper now around $860 and if the price recovers it ca hit upto $1500 by end of this year.

I think ven is a solid project.

For long term investment, I prefer ETH, Neo and Omg in your list. IMO, these are the coins with potential and may bring you good profit in the future.

Of course this is a very good topic, in order to go right at the right time and at the right time. But I think that still no one can tell you exactly when all the same it is worth to go. Because now is a very troubled time, when people simply can not understand anything

if we look unto the price before and make it as our basis , we can say that this is the right time to enter the market to buy bitcoin , as we see the price drops more than 10k in just 2 months so for me it is the right time to buy bitcoin as a form of investment or for just holding.

It's possible that the price drop is a good opportunity to buy, but it is also quite risky given the current circumstances of Bitcoin. I have stayed out for a while and am willing to buy at a higher price as long as Bitcoin's reversal is ensured.

it may take 4 - 5 months to reach the 10k price back because I heard the Japanese market conceded 7.1 IDR. and this is the most powerful factor for reducing bitcoin as it is today.

Prices for crypto currencies are falling precipitously now, but then they can quickly increase too. I would take advantage of the moment for invests and then hold them.

I think it's better to invest in ICO and Altcoins for higher possible returns, much riskier I guess but expect much more in return. Of course there's a reason why would I suggest it because as we all know the market is down for a longer time and expect the unexpected. Which means more players are interested to join in. Be sure to research and study all the awaited releases of ICO and altcoins because thos blogs, articles can be useful by giving ideas on how blockchain works.

I would invest in : Ethereum, Bitcoin CASH, Ripple, Neo, Waves, Zcash.... these are the coin in my opinion that will be with a good growth and a large community.....

Waiting for the right time to join any cryptocurrency could take you forever. Even if the markets reach the best time for investments, making the profit takes time before it actually yields. The best decision in joining every cryptocurrency is to join now and wait for the best time in collecting the results...

I couldn't disagree about XLM more. FairX exchange has the potential to be huge when it launches. XLM could see a big move upwards when it does.


No way to BCH. It doesn't offer any benefits technology wise over LTC or XRB, and the dev team are actively toxic to others in the crypto community. It will continue to slip down the rankings.

I think ETH is a solid choince, but I'm missing DeepOnion and Cardano ADA on your list. My advice would be to investigate those a bit. And if we're at it, check out Oyster Pearl too. I'm curious if these coins will change your list.

The time you spend is really worth and is going to profit you as you have chosen some of best coins. You can still include Bitcoin, Ripple, Monero and Litecoin as these coins growth trend are really promising. Split some into these coins as well.  No need to wait for even a year to gain more profits. ETH,  BTC,  Neo,  Ripple,  Monero and LTC would certainly fill your wallets with more gains. 

Not bad actually, LISK is also on my list. If you take a look into their code updates, you will find out that they are really a promising project.

looks like you have done your research ETH NEO are great choices

ETH is a solid investment to have as a type of reserve currency where you store your wealth when you are in between trades. If you want a more conservative approach you could maintain your portfolio with majority ETH as it is pretty cheap right now and has the best potential out of the major name brand coins. When looking at altcoins they are a lot more volatile and it's hard to justify a long position when you can make a lot flipping it on the short term trends. If you go for ICOs be careful about the scams and make sure to review the white papers and background info so you don't get caught in a pump and dump scheme.

Qtum, Neo, Waves, COSS, OMG, ENG and ZEC for now, are pretty good choices for me. These coins for the long term I am so sure they won’t just fail me when it comes to profit and the fact that they will be extremely embraced by new investors. However, I am surprised the OP did not even mention BTC on that list, or maybe because it is an altcoin thread, he decided to exempt that or he just decided he is done with BTC? That is always the first on my list before any other coin comes to mind.

Don't invest all your money in a single coin, diversify your portfolio and invest in 15 to 20 coins. It is the right time for investment, as the price of most cryptocurrencies have been down. It would be profitable in the long-term.

A lot of newcomers who want to immediately make money on crypto currencies are constantly wondering when is the best time to invest. So it has come. Probably the price will be even lower tomorrow and it will be much more profitable for buying altcoins.

Personally, for someone like me, I am not going to be making a huge mistake of not having waves on that kind of list. Also with the LTC Litepay (payment system), I am sure there is going to be a good time for it as well. Participating in ICOs though is not for everybody as he will need to be ready to dig out information before investing in anyone and that is pretty good work on its own.

The highest priority I would give to the etherium, maybe Neo has the potential for growth. Perhaps not the best time for such a question, but why not bitcoin? especially when it comes to long-term prospects

I've currently holding ADA, Ptoy, Sia and Hempcoin which I believe that this skyrocketing after FUD's will be over. I've doubt Waves capability cause as I've recall their historic market record, it looks like it won't make a good performance last year. Hope that market trend will bounce back and so we can move for another steps( sell and buy other coins).

Now is the perfect time since the currencies have some what reached stability and will start to rise back anytime soon again. You do have a good list. Give top priority to Ethereum (ETH), Stellar (XLM) and IOTA. All three of them have a good potential to give you some nice profits.

I hope you bought BTC when you have the chance it dips to $6k range last bloodbath,if you did that you probably earned almost 20% then you should buy the alts using the BTC you have bought in the market crash.If i were you i bought that once bitcoin so you would have instant profits when the market has recovered few hours from the bloodbath,and then you are buying a lot of altcoins to invest or trade because the perfect timing to get into the market is when the market bleeds,when people are too scared to do anything.

For long term holding, it should be Ripple, Nem, Stellar, Cardano, Tron and other low priced top Altcoins that had proven their worth of investment. In fact, Millions of dollars of trades everyday were into these coins.
They are growing in price everyday or every week or every month so if you're holding it least a year then surely they will surely be doubled, tripled or more because there are pumping and in the future they will be widely used as Cryptocurrency is the future of our money and people would use it like what they used their money in daily basis.

Well in my opinion I am not suggesting Ripple so much, Is not that I am not trusting it that it can make a big pump in the future but I am having doubts on where can they get that so many market cap that recently surpasses ETH, But well it just seems unbelievable to see it goes to the 3rd level and without it's value pump, Well it is just my opinion, I really think Cardano, NEM, IOTA, NEO, And ETN can be a great deal to invest, But still be careful in investing and research first before engaging.

i would say Ethereum, it is my favourute coin:) but don't sit for too long on your bench, it may be too late. Rares go up and down by 20% a day. I hope i won't see your regret post in altcoin discussion.

In my opinion, only ETH, NEO, OMG, LISK are promising coins. Good option to invest for long term. Wait one year or more.

Based on the information I get, it looks like the MNX coins have good prospects. because MNX has its own explorer, parking system, and exchanger itself. MNX later there will be a debit card. and this is a coin that can be dimining and the level of difficulty is still low.

however i am not ripple fan , but as of today market ripple price is much lower than its ATH , so better to go there .
and dont invest all funds into one coin , invest in ether , neo and ltc too .

The first place must be NEO. Then it can be Ethereum. You should make a small selection instead of a lot of choices.

I think because of some fake news last time ripple went to high and reached 3rd place, but if you look project wise we have many better coins compare to ripple. I will also suggest for NEM, NEO and IOTA. all these coins will have bright future and I think this is the best time to invest in altcoins.

By carefully analyzing and observing the graphs of the coins you mentioned, has great projects and several ups and downs, but in my opinion Ethereum and NEO are the most solid at the moment, where any investment can bring us small losses in maximum.

I think you can buy it right now, every choice you make is always at risk no one is absolutely sure to be accurate. I think it's a good time to buy eth atapun altcoin.

I guest the right time is now as the market bleed at every cryptocurrency you can take the advantage to invest and wait for a market shot up.

I think now is a good time to invest in cryptocurrency since most of the altcoins are very cheap. Most of the projects you mention are very promising, especially Ethereum and NEO. I suggest you take a look at Syscoin and Ark too since these two projects are highly undervalued and have a lot of potentials, Ark is like Lisk and Syscoin is the only project that aims to make Ebay decentralized.

I think it is the right time to buy because the market is starting to recover. If there will be another deep i think it will bounce back because its been months since the market become green.

You missed the perfect time to get into the market,the bitcoin's price was dipped into $5k levels which would be the perfect time to invest in cryptocurrencies if you have millions of dollars probably if you bought at that price range you are making thousands of money from the bloodbath that we had last time.

The perfect entry was when the bitcoin has dropped to $5k levels which is the hardsupport of bitcoin,it was the last wall between collapsing and recovering,but it seems bitcoin's investors has managed the crashed,bitcoin now is slowly recovering from the bloodbath that happened few days ago.Total marketcap of cryptocurrencies has reached $400B again which is a good indicator that the market has stabilized.

You better invest them now before it's too late and the are still cheaper as of this time. Go for Ripple if you want a sure sure win because Ripple will surge up to $2 in the next few weeks.
If you're planing for long term holding then I think any coins from the mentioned above will give you good profits after a year or a couple because Crypto Market is heading to 1 Trillion of dollars this quarter and will double before this year ends.

Well, Ethereum vs NEO - I better pick NEO over Ethereum because NEO is more faster than Ethereum and although they're both good coins but NEO is an underdog but a better player and threat against Bitcoin.
5K Dollars is a lot of money but if you're going to invest it into NEO then you could earn more profits than investing into Ethereum, just in my personal view and understanding that NEO could surpass Bitcoin's market capital soon than Ethereum.

Now is really a very good time to enter the world of crypto-currency. In my opinion, in addition to less well-known altcoyins (although I understand that you want to get more value from purchased coins), you can buy more famous coins, such as Etherium, Bitcoin, Ripple.

You can take short positions on sys and etc. Sys releases masternodes at the end of february which will result in a pump in the next weeks. Ltc is going to rise in value due to callisto airdrop at march 5.

You have a good pick for your investment. I would say that the coin you pick have a good profit in the future. Ethereum and NEO along is a very good investment and no one would disagree with this.  Just diversify other altcoins if possible if there is a sudden pump so you can accumulate more.

In this kind of job and in this indeustry we know that the ceyptos are not stable so it is difficult to predict or find the good shot to get in. Maybe others have got a guide to know when the right time is coming.and i too, i have a way to find the right time. When it is a falling down but not much as a big loss like the bitcoin it is only for 1-10% ateast.

I don't know what Oyster Pearl coin is but I can tell you that ADA is going to be pretty successful.

Better to select coins that have the potential to grow in the long term. The best candidates are those in the top 10 of the coinmarket. They solid, well-developed coins that will give you good profits. Try to research these coins to get more informations about them before you decide to invest.

I remember once I invested more than 30 eth when it cost $ 1,200. I was surprised to see the price is now under $1,000 but I don't think to pull it and switch to another currency. I will wait and I believe someday ethereum will reach $2,000 per token. hopefully

there are a lot of projects and it is very hard to choose what to invest in. But, think about the infrastructure. The technology is still has a lot of lags and issues. So, by the logic, the infrastructure projects will have success because they will fix technology gaps and some sort of problems. Every good blockchain with a potential of a high speed, every new idea for the infrastructure should be a good investment.

Every time is a right time to enter as no one can judge the future of any thing. You can start putting money in parts at every dip to averaging your cost. This way, you get more profit then others at a rise due to cost averaging.

I think that right now is the time to buy BTC as preev.com shows its price @8.5K and it will keep growing probably.

I hope you didnt miss the chance, because the time was really here while the market crashed. At that moment on every coin the price was so delicious that I think every coin was profitable to buy. But if look through main coins investing in ETH, LTC, BTC was also profitable.

No need to wait for investment because every time is right if you have sufficient amount to invest and time to hold the same,now is the time to invest because market is crashed is good time for buying coins on a good price.

Nice portfolio, I think ICX, ETH, NEO will be the most profitable altcoins in 2018. Prices now is cheap and it's time to buy (probably with small amounts, if market will continue correction).

It is the right time to get in because the prices are getting higher. You need to choose what is the worthy coins and what is it prices in the market. Many investors are waiting the right time but this time is the right time to invest because it's value is getting higher. You need to invest your profit in the most profitable coins that give you a higher price.

Few days back was the best time to buy altcoins and bitcoins as the prices were low but they are slowing increasing.Bitcoins has reached $9.7k and etheruem $950 so IMO you can invest now as the prices are going to increase and invest in etheruem,bitcoins,litecoin and ripple as they would be good for long term investment.

In fact, anyone who is not considering BTC right now is not really doing themselves good. However, it may be simply because he is looking forward to trade them against BTC, which would obviously give him more in BTC for the long term profit.

I am looking forward to some of my alts giving me a good position in quantity in BTC as well anyway, but I will also be careful not to miss the bull train when it starts for BTC.

Probably now is right time to get in. The prices are still not so high and I think that the prices are going up in a bull run, so now is a good time to get in, at least by buying bitcoins. I think the price of bitcoin is going up again and it will be better to have bitcoins rather than USD on the bench. From last one month, it was a good time to invest in cryptocurrency almost all coins are dead but now one by one increasing. Specially BTC back to $10k and other coins also recovering. maybe this is the time to invest because from now onwards I think the market will grow so don't miss the opertunity.

These tokens are excellent tokens, even if the loss, you will not face too big decline, but if you are the pursuit of higher profits, then I still suggest you invest in CARDSTACK the ICO project.

Now seems a pretty good time to get into the market, judging from posts that prove a traditional yearly dip in prices january-february. Alass I entered in December without this info. Had I not been so keen on hype and instead read more beforehand, I would have entered the market around now. It's part of the learning curve.

Also I think it is interesting to set a sum aside for ICOs and bet for the better proyects.

For long term hold I see in your list the two best currencies. These are NEO and Ethereum. Maybe in some extent IOTA is suitable too. Choose these three currencies. That’s my opinion of course only, but I have an intuition.

add waves, doge, trx, minex, ltc, it really has a good potential for long term holds.

It was the right decision to wait for the market to fall in order to enter. I hope that in the beginning of February you managed to buy everything you wanted. Your coin list looks OK. To divide 5 000 dollars between them is the most correct decision. Now the market has finally started to grow. However, it's not too late to buy, the prices have not risen much yet.

Obviously a perfect time to get into most of them since they have reached a level of no more falling. I would also add LTC to that list anyway. Litecoin sure have some good thing going on for it right now and I also wonder why you do not have BTC on your list as well.

It is your choice though, but for me, that is always the first. Never heard on Ven though, maybe I will check out on that myself. Try to take a look at ZEC as well.
