Title: Did someone saw U.S SENATE today OPEN SESSION? Did we won or lose?
Post by: freshman1992 on February 06, 2018, 10:34:31 PM
I read that today the US Senate had an open session about bitcoin and cryptocurrency regulations, did they killed us? Or they are making cool regulations?

It was very positive . The SEC and CFTC are very pro crypto currencies and only want to protect the average investors from the countless scams that exist currently in the crypto world and help regulate it .
This is one of the best statments said during the session :

I only know what I read on coindesk and cointelegraph, and things looked really positive and bullish for crypto. Bitcoin already recovered a little after that reunion so the markets are taking that reunion as something positive as well. They see to be welcoming crypto and DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology), and will keep their eyes on ICOs, in order to try to reduce scams. They seemed honest and concerned on getting a good middle term for crypto. They don't want to kill innovation, and accept that crypto has a role to play in our society, and at the same time they want to protect it's citizens from scam. Those are legit concerns to me, so I would say it went very well.

Here is a thread that sumarised what they said:

They don't think bitcoin represents a risk to the system because it's too small. So they want to take a "wait and see" approach, and don't want to "stomp" on it.

Oh - and they managed to use the word HODL in the testimony.

Well things are sounding good! I just hope and pray that all these sweet talks are not just masking any possible hidden agenda to control the crypto system. Because for me, "to regulate" is quite similar to "to manipulate." I hope I'm wrong.

I heard about it but couldn't stay updated, I hope one member will talk about it and tell us what happened.
I doubt US senators know what cryptocurrency is, that's why I don't believe they will support it
(only those holding some will probably support it)
