Title: Toshiba has recently invented a consumer-grade quantum cryptography network Post by: virtualmaster on September 07, 2013, 09:27:51 PM Toshiba has recently invented a consumer-grade quantum cryptography network.
Bitcoin also mentioned in the article. http://caeconomics.wordpress.com/2013/09/07/cryptoanarchy-continues-to-improve/ What do you think about it ? Does it really exist ? If yes what consequences will it have on Bitcoin ? the story seems to be from a blog style media source (http://caeconomics.wordpress.com/) where anyone can submit stories. (who is John Vandivier) and the link in the story brings you too yet another blogger/journalist. (qz.com) no actual references / interviews from toshiba themselves making a device. just a toshiba RESEARCH PAPER. i call this chinese whispers, where the initial facts get distorted with every person that then passes the information forward. Racist. :P Title: Re: Toshiba has recently invented a consumer-grade quantum cryptography network Post by: meanig on September 08, 2013, 12:38:47 AM There are commercial quantum cryptography systems available but they need dedicated fibers.
Quantum cryptography on a non dedicated fiber needs a shit load of liquid helium to make the single photon detectors work. That won't be commercially available for a very long time. Moore's law can be applied to anything in high-tech. I wouldn't say "very long". Moore's law can be applied to anything in high-tech. I wouldn't say "very long". Getting single photon detectors to work cheaply and efficiently at higher temperatures isn't so much in the realms of high-tech but rather still in the realms of science. Science can take a very long time. Title: Re: Toshiba has recently invented a consumer-grade quantum cryptography network Post by: mymenace on September 10, 2013, 01:53:55 AM From what I understand no current programs or networks will run on any quantum pc or quantum network as the mathematics is different.
