Title: 6 gpu mining rig with 1600w+ psu
Post by: theybay on February 07, 2018, 06:31:23 PM
Hi
I am building an 8 gpu mining rig but I currently have only 6 of them.
If I am using the 1600+ psu, is it consume the all 1600w or its knows to take only part from the power as the rig needs.
In other words: If I run the rig with only 6 gpu I’ll pay electricity like it is 8 gpu?

Nope, the PSU will supply on demand, meaning it will run as 6 GU's, the consumption will rise only after you add the remaining cards

The max power that the PSU can provide for a longer period of time is 1600W :).

Also, as a rule of thumb and to keep things optimal, you'll likely not want to exceed 80 percent of the 1600W capacity of the PSU.

Yeah, that's really important! Forgot to add that :D
