Title: BFGMiner randomly quitting.
Post by: demonmaestro on September 09, 2013, 03:49:35 AM
I have been having the issue with BFGMiner just randomly shutting down on me. This is on windows 7 pro x64  bfgminer3.1.4 with this line -o http://stratum.myguild.com:3333 -u myuser_1 -p 123 -G -S all --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100

How do i stop this.

Windows does not shutdown. I have other programs that stay running also and they stay running.
Thanks for the help.

First, I'd recommend posting this in the Mining Support (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0) forum. It will probably get moved there anyway.

Second, try checking out the Windows Event Viewer (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/open-event-viewer). It may have information on the application crashes that would help the author of bfgminer (or other fellow users) help you out. You could also try reporting this directly on the bfgminer thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=168174.0).

Finally, I think most experienced miners will tell you that even cgminer and bfgminer crash from time-to-time. There are a few application for mining that handle this by watching the mining processes for you and restarting when needed. One such app is MultiMiner (http://multiminerapp.com) (one of my apps), which you can read about here (http://thread.multiminerapp.com).

You could try:

- running the latest version of BFG - that's 3.2.0
- using the better -S erupter:all rather than all that crap icarus stuff which is depreciated.

Programs randomly quitting usually points to faulty RAM in the PC.
