Since eBay owns PayPal, it seems like a bit of a conflict of interest for them to accept Bitcoin. Some sort of PayPal / Bitcoin integration might be a precursor to eBay accepting Bitcoin.

On the other hand, since Bitcoin has irreversible transactions and PayPal is known for reversing transactions, this doesn't really seem to fit their model.

When Ebay starts accepting GoldCoin™ (GLD), that's when you know we've turned the corner! :)

You plan this BEFORE they accept bitcoin... ???

And I doubt ebay will accept bitcoin, unless a whole new internet world is made.  Maybe Ebay will do a 51% attack lolz.

Sure it would be nice, but sounds like something more in a few years than now.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to vote unless I've misunderstood what you mean.

Ebay does in fact use paypal that is not the question.  The question is how far into mainstream does our community have to take BTC to have the clout to push organizations the size of ebay to see that it would be another profitable revenue stream that they would not otherwise have.  They could keep their security with a type of automated escrow and identity verification etc so the question is not the reversal of transactions, but proving that BTC has industry staying power, mainstream acceptance, and would provide them with a new profitable and reliable customer base.

I in fact have bought things with BTC because I HAVE BTC when I may not have the available amount in USD and woudl hav eotherwise purchased via ebay through paypal.  So in a small study of 1 they are losing money because it's not just myself.  On the flip side of that they could abopt/buyout bitmit as it already exists today and absorb it to ebay.

Overall BTC and cryptocurrency is in infancy.  Metal objects as barter started around 5000 BC with the first money around 700 BC then paper money starting around 1000 AD in China.  Paper money in the US in 1860s.  Money has had a long time to evolve rise and fall while gathering acceptance.  BTC just needs time to mature and until we as a community can fully back and push it beyond a niche being viewed by many as a scam, drug, "not backed", currency it will continue to have lower acceptance.

A lot of the issues BTC and other alt coins are facing today "money" went through in many ways.  What was it really worth, how is it controlled, can I trust it, etc.

Keep the good fight going and we will drive it mainstream!
