Title: Why is it so hard to find a sports betting platform that accepts eth?
Post by: samamatara on February 09, 2018, 09:30:44 AM
Bitcoin is such a expensive and slow crypto to use for betting purposes, why do sites insist on using bitcoin only?
I would have imagined that they would prefer a quicker cheaper crypto to lure gamblers to their site. Imagine a tilted gambler trying to deposit hit last 0.5 bitcoin after losing his life savings and it taking 3 hours to get through. He would be tilt free by then :D

So this is just a FUD post without any actual question/input? That's a shame considering what your title said.

---Nothing to see here, move along---

No, you are not interested in anything, you are spreading FUD. Title is misleading. 50-100 sat/byte is enough to send transaction and you will wait 1-30 min.

It literally takes few seconds to type "ethereum sports betting" into google. I doubt you seriously have trouble to find such site.

Most major gambling sites accept multiple currencies nowadays. If you're favourite site doesn't - suggest that to them for consideration.

I think rather than giving suggestions and not necessarily the site owner responds to your feedback. and it might be better to make the move to use other gambling sites that can be more comfortable to gamble. and can accept the coin you want to use

Gambling site prefer bitcoin because even if it is quite slow now compare to other alts, the ability of bitcoin to appreciate and remain strong currency even after experiencing so much fluctuations makes it the most trustable cryptos. Another thing is that bitcoin is the most popular coin and all people here holds bitcoin unlike in alts that only investors give space on their wallet for holding it.

Nah I'm just stating facts and nothing more. If I want to use bitcoin to bet, I need to buy some bitcoin from an exchange, and then pay around $20 worth in withdrawal fees just to deposit to a betting site. Sure if u already have some bitcoin handy it's not terrible but transacting bitcoin using exchange is horrible and it's a fact.

If exchange charges you their own fees on top of miners' fees, then they probably do the same for ETH and other cryptos. Anyhow, you can't blame Bitcoin for such fees, just use different exchange ffs. I think BitStamp has free BTC withdrawals.

there is no Ethereum sportsbetting , the only bookie that offered Ethereum was directbet and their margin was very high that's why they used to accept Ethereum and other coins
the best thing to do is to keep your sportsbetting money in the bookie you using so you don't have to wait for confirmation
Betcoin accepts Ethereum but at this moment you can't trust them with your money

personally I find no problem betting with bitcoin cause I always keep like 10 units in the bookie I use

Which exchange you are talking about? Current fastest and cheapest transaction fee is less than 30k satoshi which is less than $3. If you really want to play with eth, there is wbet7.com that accepts eth and other altcoins as well.

You can look for sportsBook that accept 0 confirmation deposits. Most of the casinos avoid it to prevent double spending. You can ask your favourite sportsBook to implement SegWit to solve the network issues. Also most of the sportsbooks do accept ETH or ETH based coins. You need to explore more.

If this was an old thread I would probably not make any comments, but since this was made yesterday, I need to ask: when was the last time you tried to make a transaction with bitcoin? Also, what bookies are you using that still charge such large fees?

The number of unconfirmed transactions is quite low recently, and is not even compared to what we had in the last month. Last time I check it was around 9k, and that means that your fees are quite low right now. If you are paying a lot of fees you are not doing things right.

Check this site for the live updating list of new bitcoin transactions.
https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

Fees are low again right now, and since coinbase is finally updating to segwit, chances are they will remain low, since they were, on par with gemini, the major responsible for the high fees we were having.

As for your title thread, that is not entirely related to your posts, I think that ether is not really meant to be a currency, so bookies don't really use it for that. Personally I would use ether to run and ICO our to invest in one, and not to pay for bets.

Mind telling which exchange you use? most of the exchanges charge 0.001 BTC(~$8.2) or lower for withdrawals. exchange need to update/lower the amount they charge for withdrawals, these exchange are still on old fixed fee. it's not bitcoin's fault! current normal fee for a tx is 0.0000013 BTC/byte(https://bitcoinfees.earn.com).

What do you mean? I admit it that bitcoin raise until current price, but it does not mean that we can't get those amount to bet, you can start small betting, this value will be the same as your currency. And about slow crypto? What is that really means to the huge progressive on every day? I believe on every single exchanges, there will be tons of huge amount of bitcoin traded, this is really fast traffic that you can't never imagine for such coin to be gambled
