Yes it's an installation package, a PC client you install, not browser based. The installation package is digitally signed. Be careful by all means but there is nothing to worry about. Maybe include all the usual hash functions, crc32, md5, sha1, sha-256. The geeks will now how to verify that.

Well it's digitally signed with a code signing certificate which is the standard way to do such things on windows when using windows installer. On download windows will display a proper company name as the publisher rather than 'unknown' and you can right click the package and see the signature certificate in the properties. It's all standard functionality on windows no need for anything bespoke. There's at least 5 free rolls on this evening US time.
