Title: Why doesn't God simply destroy us for our evil?
Post by: BADecker on February 09, 2018, 04:14:57 PM
Why doesn't God simply destroy us for our evil?

When God made Adam and Eve, He made them perfect. There wasn't anything more perfect than the perfection God placed in them and into the universe.

In fact, because of this perfection, God, Himself, decided to occupy Adam and Eve spiritually. That is what is meant by making them in His own image. That is what is shown by breathing the breath (spirit) of life into Adam.

Now here is the actual reason. God is so extremely great that He can't allow defamation of his character, defamation of His Name, defamation of Himself. The destruction of mankind would mean defamation of God, because God actually lives within mankind.

The impossibility of this whole situation comes when mankind use their "godness" to defame God. So, how does God keep Himself from being defamed when destroying mankind would defame Him, and when not destroying them would defame Him.

God did it by sending His Son, Jesus into the world as a man, to live a perfect life, and to suffer the punishment and death that God would have to mete out to all people. Then, because Jesus was perfect, God raised Him from the dead and set Him in a position of authority over all things.

There is only one more piece of evil in mankind that needs to be corrected. That evil is the choice that God holds open in man, to be against or in favor of God. Man makes the choice that destroys or saves himself... but only because God holds that choice open for man, as part of the method for maintaining His own good Name.

Man's choice is to be in favor of God or against Him. God will not be defamed. Jesus took care of that. All that is left is to let those who don't want salvation - who don't want to maintain godness within themselves - to set themselves up for losing God in the Hell that awaits them. The choice is made by people when they believe and accept the salvation of Jesus.

What do you think?

I don't think god can do anything in this world at all. You may have seen cancer or disease getting cured on live tv, but have you seen limbs grow back? Healing sounds pretty selective to me.

Why doesn't God simply destroy us for our evil?

Same reason the Easter Bunny doesn't give us discounts for the dentist?

If it wasn't for God, there wouldn't be any limbs at all, or even life.

The first few billion years of life did not have the intelligence to understand a god, yet they thrived and evolved... try again.

God is so extremely great that He can't allow defamation of his character, defamation of His Name, defamation of Himself.

Then why doesn't he stop the growing atheist movement that is sweeping the planet?  No one believes in fairy tales anymore.  The world isn't flat.

He did it before when he flooded the earth to start the human race all over with Noah's family, and he established a covenant with Noah and his descendants after him that "never again shall all flesh be cutoff by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth." Just wait for the second coming I'm pretty sure that all faces of evil on earth will be vanished.

He did it before when he flooded the earth to start the human race all over with Noah's family

That has been debunked as false (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_myth).  Many religions have the same tale of flooding or destruction.  It helps keep their followers in line.

Read the dozens of similar fairy tales told by different cultures:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flood_myths

Water carries sedimentation.  We can tell where water has been by tracking that sedimentation and using something called "science".   :)

Besides, why doesn't our DNA show that we all descended from that one family?   ::)

Accept salvation?  WTF are you talking about?  Are you mental?

You die, you decompose, end of story.  In few generations, nobody will remember you existed.

What are you talking about?  Snap out of it.  Enjoy life, because you only got one.

Why does not God simply destroy us for our evil?

It is simple, because we have not evil inside, I know it, I know it because i know who the evil is, she have the long hair and it was my girlfriend long ago, I have no doubt about it: P

Nah seriously, if you are a believer, you should not ask yourself about what are the intentions of god, you should simply accept it, because how can god be wrong?, thats all, so if he didnt destroy us yet, is because he / it / she or whatever you want to call it, does not want.

The way you describe god, his character, he sounds like someone who has a flawed character. Insecure character, "I will not be defamed, how there they." A human of high character would not worry what say a whinny fellow human would think. It would be like caring what a kid thinks. So why would got care what flaws humans think of him? Only simple humans would care about such things, or value such things, which makes me think that this version of god was made up by such simple people.

I agree that we are created in Gods image however if you look into the world and see all the destruction I think we rather behave like the devil rather than God. The "godness" is just restored through his "goodness" when he sent Jesus for us. In him we are a new creation, with God dwelling inside of us and wanting us to do good. That makes us more and more "godlike".

In my opinion there are two explanations to this.

a) Man was made in God's image. This means that everything flawed in his creation, is also mirrored unto him. If he were to destroy us for being evil, he would then have to enforce the same punishment on him.

b) There is no God and quite possibly there is no such thing as good or evil. It's all part of subjective morality.

Human are the creation of god. We all are sons and daughter of the god.
God wanted his siblings to live happily with love and sympathy to each other.
Now as his siblings are filled with greed and pride, fighting and killing each other, it's really difficult for god to take sides.
It's really difficult to kill your own siblings.

So-called god is not powerful enough to destroy ongoing evil stuff on earth. Because, any kind of god does not exist on the universe. Humanity can vanish evil stuff from the surface of earth. That' is the real point for me.

He's a prick, and all of this was on purpose.  He tossed us out of Eden so we said "fuck it, we'll go build our OWN Eden", and the following few thousand years have been an attempt to replace magic with technology.

Because God loves us dearly that He gave man the free will to do what he/she wants. The free will to do good or to do evil. The Lord also gave us grace, the unmerited favor of God, that we cannot deserve but He still bestow upon us. But still God punishes men who continue to act sinfully.

God is a super nice guy, and is giving you a time to repent, and become a friend of His. But if you don't, it's you or Him. And of course, it will be Him, because He controls everything, and won't reject Himself for you...

Although He came very close to that, when He gave up His life for you, in Jesus death on the cross.

Because is a loving God who doesn't think of our our evil doing before blessing us, who showers his love on us, who forgive us our sins despite the fact who always commit sin because of his love for us that's y he does not destroy us because he loves us.

Because God wants us to save, Jesus came here to save and seek the lost, He gave His own begotten Son just to cleanse our sin/evilness, God gave us the chance because of His wonderfu love to us. Thats why, God wants us to go to Him to earn the salvation that is freely given to us.

Why god allow those criminals to do bad things in the community and other people?
If god is the only one that has the right to take the life of any person then why murderers exist?
if god is the only one to allow limbs why did he allow a rapist to do it to their victim and some of them got pregnant?

God make us to choose from right or wrong. After choosing our choice now its our responsibility to take the outcomes. Lets say we cut tree to make different products from it. But also God teaches us how to grow a tree. Now it's up to us are we going to cut tree workout growing any tree or not. We choose our path either to destroy us or build

God doesn't destroy us for our evil because he is loving and kind. He want us to to change and do his will, if he destroy us, we may not go to heaven, but as he didn't destroy us, we can later confess our sin and go in his way so that we have eternal life

Evil is in everyone of us in this world and sometimes, it is in small doses. If God is suppose to be destroying all the evil in the world, then the whole Human race is going to be extinct and since he doesn't want that he has given us what i term to be a very long rope and tolerance.

In other words, why does God allow people to do anything?

When God made the world, there was no evil or bad. God had a perfect relationship with mankind. This relationship was based on a righteous connection between mankind and God. The connection was (and remains) that whatever a person wanted to do, all he/she could do was choose it. Then God made the physical and mental happenings of the choices mankind made.

In other words, man can't do anything. All man can do is wish. Then God makes all the physical and mental things happen, to do what a person wants. Originally, this was all based on love, and perfect relationship between God and man.

When man broke the perfect relationship by wishing for something evil and imperfect, God could have simply destroyed mankind on the spot. But he didn't do that. Instead He sent a man who was God at the same time. This was Jesus.

Jesus remained perfect in this life. And because He was God as well as man, He could take the destruction punishment that God should have given mankind for breaking the perfect relationship. This is what Jesus did. He suffered the torments of Hell for mankind, and even died.

Because of the perfect relationship Jesus maintained with God, death couldn't hold Him. He awakened from death, like the Bible teaches, and is alive right now and forever. This was the way that He, and God as a whole, overcame the imperfection of mankind. In other words, God is turning the bad that people do into 'no effect' through Jesus.

It hurts to get hurt. When someone does evil things to you, it hurts. I don't like pain any more than anyone else. But when I die - we all die - the pain and the remembrance of it will be gone from my life. But God will remember.

God wants perfect people. He will raise us all from death, just like Jesus was raised. The important thing is to be found on God's side, in favor of God, at the time of the resurrection. The only way to be found on God's side is to become on His side in this life. And the method for becoming that way is to believe in the salvation of Jesus, and then to willingly stop being evil in this life as much as possible.

This life lasts for a moment of, say, 100 years. The life that God will raise all people to will be a life that lasts forever. There are two basic judgment directions that God will do at the time of the resurrection. Those who were on God's side in this life by believing in Jesus salvation, and by attempting to live the righteous life that God asks for, will receive a life of increased living in joy and goodness, with God, forever, in Heaven. Those who did not accept Jesus, and did not attempt to good in this life, will receive a life of continual destruction, away from God, forever.

In other words, ponder the above, to see the answer to your questions, and to see that your questions are not really relevant for life.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely do not like pain or evil, even though I am stuck in both at times. God has given me a chance to accept life - and He is doing this for you as well. Choose Jesus salvation, doing good, and eternal life... rather than doing evil, unbelief, and eternal death. Choose now, and choose well, because when this short life is over, whatever you have chosen will last for eternity.

God gives us freedom and choice on what will we do with our lives and I believe that every bad/evil that human does, there is always a consequence. It could be a bad karma or relive a life that is in a worst situation so it's not necessary for Him to destroy us.

Its not just God want to punish us to all our sin but God want us to be a better person. We are not God to be perfect, Jesus has a mistake too, Jesus is not perfect because Jesus is a person.

God is not a person that watches us over, that's too anthropomorphic image of God. Rather, God is consciousness residing in all beings, what philosophers call pure Being. It doesn't pick sides or differentiate between good or evil. It just is, slowly evolving through sentient lifeforms.

It is simple, god has not destroyed us because there is no god. At least not in the sense of God that we have in religious scriptures. Instead, those scriptures preach that we should experience shame for our actions and behaviours, while that is simply nonsense. We are human, we are animals, we are not "perfect". Sure, we can reason and we are capable of improving ourself morally and consciously but we are not broken or evil, simply in a state of evolution.

That is simply not the plan God wants for His children. The Lord gave us the free will to do what we want. It is either for your own good or your own destruction. He loves us so much that if we just repent our sins to Him then He will forgive us and renew us.

Our God is a loving God, who forgives people who sins, He wants us to repent for our sins to have our salvation, as his word written in the Holy Bible, he will not destroy again the world he create, but he does punish evil by  giving evil punishment but he gives love for them to learn that they have sins against Him, and he want them to confess their sins before Him and ask for His mercy and forgiveness, that's how our God loves his children.

By allowing evil to survive, God delays judgment upon those who have not yet found and accepted the good news of Jesus Christ. Were he to rid the world of evil today, there would be millions of souls lost—for all eternity.

It's because God is all loving he loves us and do not want us to suffer just because we are evil and commit sins or mistake. God is also forgivable that he want us to realize what we did so God make trials for the consequences of our sins, God wants to mold us to be a better person, brave, god fearing person etc. that's why God do not destroy us.

It is because of God's unfailing love and mercy.
When He created Adam and Eve,  He saw the very nature of human,  their weaknesses.  That is why God doesn't destroy us despite of our evilness because His love and mercy is truly enough,  that He also consider  still some of the righteous people and those who trying their best to do God's will.

That's why God's love is the best, He never wants us to die in our sin and always gives us opportunities to repent and do away with our evil doings

because God is loving and most merciful. God will give a second chance to all his people for his mistakes and sins. perhaps in this world they do not get judgment but in the hereafter they will get a reply for what they do during their lifetime.

Who thinks God isn't destroying us for our evil?

There are many people over 100 y. o. in Japan... possibly more than any other country. Yet they don't live much longer than 100... say to even near 200.

God IS destroying us for our evil, right?

It is because there is a perfect time for every thing and on that day will be the final revelation of all unseen activities and the reward of every person deeds. We don't know why all kinds of suffering are everywhere in this planet, but that thing doesn't hide the reality that there is an intelligent designer of the universe. I know there will be an opposing side from other to my opinion but  it's ok as long as there is respect between us.  ;)

God's love towards humanity is great and indescribable. He is all knowing and all forgiving father. He is giving us enough time for true repentance.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:22–24)”
According to the text above, God will not destroy us for our evil because of His great mercies which the bible says is new EVERY MORNING. It is not in his plan or agenda for any soul to perish, so he willingly or should I say consciously give us time to truly turn from our evil ways and re-turn to Him. When we do this heaven rejoices!
