Title: Shouldn't we focus more on Blockchain technology?
Post by: Parwesh Chaudhary on February 10, 2018, 06:41:46 AM
I think Blockchain is more important for us then cryptocurrencis.
Should we not focus more on Blockchain then caring about cryptocurrencis?

As Blockchain is capable of removing centralised system which is the root of many issues the world is facing currently and it also has the capability to empower commoners.

It is good if one day we'll see blockchain being implemented in the government and through government officials, we can definitely see the transparency and we we'll be oriented how it really works to ease our transactions.

You know what I think? Your missing the point here. What do you mean by caring about cryptocurrency? Do you know that blockchain is also a cryptocurrency?

I think you should direct your rant to the government because they despise the anything that's "decentralized" including cryptos.

For me blockchain is the most important thing in the world of crypto, if a crypto not using blockchain technology, I think crpyto is currently the same as paypal or other payment provider and to me it is not at all interesting.

There are so many benefits that I have gained. I hope, in the future we continue to provide education about blockchain to can be known and used by all circles of society.

True.. It's because Bitcoin is using the blockchain technology that makes it so unique from banks and paypal. It's confirmed transactions are always legit. We just need to make sure our private keys are kept safe.

How to meaningfully separate blockchains from cryptocurrencies though?

Without issuing cryptocurrency as the reward for securing a blockchain, you don't get public miners (or stakers, or masternodes, or whatever concept you may follow) to secure the network.

Without the public securing a blockchain, you need to rely on trusted, federated entities to do the job for you.

And once you have to rely on trusted, federated entities, you are effectively back at having a centrally controlled system.

In other words, I'm still not convinced of the viability of permissionless blockchains. If anyone can convince me otherwise I'm all ears.

Blockchain would be updated all at once -if it could. That means that sending large blocks would've been possible around ~2007.

People are doing what they can with Blockchain.

I think blockchain technology will have a great rule in cryptocurrency because it is a decentralized technology. A global network of computers use blockchain technology to jointly manage the data base that records bitcoin transaction. Maybe we need to learn more knowledge about it.

Eventually that is what is going to happen but focusing on blockchain technology is beyond the individual can afford as I don't see how I want to apply it to either my daily living or my career rather its for organisations who are ready to invest and thereafter deploy it for solutions in areas such as stock control for example a multi chain stores spread across the nations can be effectively controlled. Another is concerning shipping lines, elections monitoring, collection of orders, database management etc.

As individuals, the currency part is what I see we can do to support this technology and gradually brings more attention to the multinationals and countries who can afford it to use it more.

Yes you are right we should focus on blockchain much more. Even governments focus on blockchain technology and they want to regulate cryptocurrency market. If one day cryptocurrency market crashes and finishes, blockchain is going to live. People just invest their money in cryptocurrencies that use blockchain technology.

I'd say let the Dev's find a way how to solve it and just support them. If we're a cryptographer or coder we can help but we're just a mere investor here. What we can do is just invest on this technology and keep on supporting the cryptocurrency.

What are you saying? blockchain is not a cryptocurrency, it is a technology that is used to secure data and makes all stored data impossible to modify, but blockchain is not limited for securing cryptocurrency, it can also be use to secure different kinds of data. About what OP said/ask, here's the thing, though blockchain can have a lot of uses, if we focus on developing the blockchain it will also have a good effects cryptocurrencies and if we focus on cryptocurrency, you will also have to develop the blockchain, because cryptocurrencies rely its security on blockchain and they are both important.

Blockchain can change our live.
If governments implement the blockchain technology, all our administrative procedures will be faster, easier and safer.
We will not need tons of papers any more to fulfill a simple procedure.
Cryptocurrencies are just applications that run over the blockchain technology, we should use this technology in other fields.
Many companies are aware of the blockchain potential and started exploiting it.

Sadly, most people in here only focus on the gains they can make with bitcoin and not really with the tech. Ironically, those who don't like bitcoin are the ones who's making further developments and progressions with the blockchain tech, while the people who like bitcoin the most are the ones who only care about the profits and leave the tech alone with no interest on it whatsoever. In the future, blockchain will be a key tech feature that most services will use, so isn't it wise to focus on it while trying to gain monetary profits as well?

Sure, you can store all sorts of data using a blockchain. But who will secure a blockchain without monetary incentive? Or rather... what alternative is there without falling back to solutions that either require a) centralization or b) trust or c) possibly both?

Blockchain is not a cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency is a use case of Blockchain. I consider Blockchain as a company and cryptocurrency as one of it's best product.

However, cryptocurrency has helped Blockchain in getting a broader exposure.

I actually think the crypto currency is more important.  Money should be controlled by the people, not a few selected corrupt bankers.

Overall I agree with you. But cryptocurrencies play a very important role in destabilizing the current centralized powers. Throughout history, this destabilizing has been tried with violence and overthrow. But with the help of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, the free-market and free-association of people alone will eventually have more influence than government.

Agree, we need to find another way to incentive the blockchain verifying process to prevent the technology getting damaged by the greed. The capability of blockchain is not yet exploited thoroughly.

I was curious on the idea that the blockchain technology and not the coins were more likely to be accepted in the future. This being said, I think the coins using the tech are probably one of the best ways to get it more in the public eye to make sure it is understood. Of course you have those people who only care about gains who taint the "value" of coins.

One of the good examples I believe was with Ripple and XRP. iirc, banks were more interested in using the ripple system and tech instead of actually integrating their coin for currency transactions. I feel there will be similar developments with certain coins and the tech behind it moving forward. Correct me if im wrong on this though.

This brings up another question though, how would investors who just got into the space be able to support blockchain tech more then the coin? This might be an issue left for developers/programmers to work on (which I assume they have been for quite some time.)

Blockchain Technology is indeed the platform for future innovation. Cryptocurrencies have an important role but everytime a new coin is released, it dilutes the market with another project that may not be ready for world deployment. If there were less than 10 digital currencies focusing on privacy, liquidity, store of value, instant transactions, these coins would be progressively refined into better coins making our digital ecosystem stronger.
There is no right or wrong with technology or development but as a community, we should identify if the emerging trend is counterproductive and establish best industry practices.

Blockchain is not just about currency and investment, so investors are not a must. Open source project has been evolving without the need of funds. Something that is open source will allow other programmers to help the project, for free.

Ahh ok makes sense, thanks for clarifying. Personally, I would love to contribute to development but unfortunately I don't really have a background in programming, but its great to know.

I certainly agree, blockchain technology is very important in the future, most of the sectors already try to implemented blockchain technology, and it need to develop further, blockchain has been proven so useful for the transaction and a lot of positive comment coming from the people that used it, blockchain and crypto currencies can't be separated, the blockchain fame is coming from crypto so I think both of them need to be developed further

Yes, we really should focus more on Blockchain technology. Some people already said something similar. Maybe Bitcoin will disappear after 20 years, but blockchain will stay.

Now many people focus more on cryptocurrency just because they want make big money in short time.....but this is just nature of common people.
