Title: Coins that disappointed you
Post by: johstacy on February 10, 2018, 10:56:08 AM
I do not want you writing here about any shit coins. I'm asking about good and promising projects in which you are disappointed right now. This does not mean that they will not show an increase in the future, or you will quickly sell everything on the stock exchange. I just want to hear your opinions. I'll start with myself.

1. KuCoin Shares. It is not clear why I got involved in this adventure with getting coins from the gross turnover on the stock exchange. I have invested a lot of money, as for my opportunities. I do not get many coins. And the price of the KuCoin itself sharply falls, even when the market starts to grow, there is not any growth.

2. Polybius. When I bought it a year ago, I realized that this is a long investment. But this is a real bank, a real license. Everything is legal. And what do we have today? No product, developers work on something and do something. From the news only - congratulations on the New Year.

My biggest disappontment is Tierion (TNT). Well-established company that successfully launched mainnet, and it is a main competitor to better known Factom (FCT) - you can go through a comparison in this Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/tierion/comments/6tbvdv/tierion_vs_factom/). Moreover, they implemented kind of maternode system which usually tends to be a factor of fundamental price increase. They have even some real business use-cases (for example Microsoft).

However, the price has declined for majority of the last two quarters except the bullish race that affected all coins. Price remains under ICO quote and I am still holding ..

When I initially joined the crypto space, one of the first projects I really liked was GridCoin/GRC.
I still like their idea of integrating with a distributed computing network, but unfortunately it seems like their project never really took off.
Plus there are more competitors in the space meanwhile.

I understand your disappointment, but we must be patient, because there are still many alt who have not recovered.

Kucoin is still potentially big and I'm sure its price will soon rise, because Kucoin have its own exchange and KCS become pair in he exchanges.

Polybius was one of the successful banking projects of last year, but until now there has been no significant development. I'm sure their projects are constrained by the regulations within their own country and this is a challenge they must face if they want their projects to work and grow.

I think this is a coin from Cardano ADA. It grew strongly after entering the stock exchange, but after the fall of crypto-currencies, it fell more than 3 times. While Etherium and Bitcoin have slightly increased the price, this currency is at the bottom, which is alarming. I think ADA's holders should think about why this is happening.

I was disappointed in Bitcoin. I have expected for a long time that with the introduction of lightning commission fees for BTC transactions decreased and the price of BTC grew 100 times , but it didn't happen. It seems bitcoin will lose leading positions and will be forgotten in the future. Its place will be taken by more promising and more technological cryptocurrencies.

I'm mostly disappointed with coins from which I sell too early, thereby missing the profit that I could get! Sometimes the amounts are very big! But this is the beauty of the cryptocurrency)))

i have been disappointed a lot when it comes to altcoins because usually i expect a huge pump and they run out of pumping fuel midway to the top. i get some profit but it is usually less than i expect :P

but the biggest one that has ever disappointed me was LISK. i though it could become a lot bigger than this current price and it is a decent project and being with JavaScript gives it an edge too. but it never got a decent pump.

Kucoin Shares also disappointed me. It was just a pump & dump game, I realized too late. It was overvalued yet I was so greedy.
Waves also disappointed me. I was expecting better price for it but despite all the good development news price remained very low.

There are many coins disappointed me. One of them is Dimcoin which falls several times from its high and original value also. Some others are NXT, AMP, Radium. But, am very happy for the coin PYLNT which gives me a decent profit with very low in a quantity that I got from the bounty.

Cardano and NEM disappointed me the most.

Can I ask why? Because they made 1300% in a few months and 16800% in 2017 respectively? Or just because you entered at highs and currently your portfolio is in drawdown?

Coins today were just like a piece of ball thrown to the deep water, when it dropped into the surface it will drown a little bit then tossed above the surface level but when it does fall back it stuck up on the water surface and the motion intensity is likely dependent on market waves.
That is why before hitting that buy button every investor should know the potential of every coins because not only time and efforts are at risk but most importantly is the hard-earned money.
That's why dividing your portfolio is very important as well so that you'll not be stuck up on a single or two coins and just hanging on for the rest of your life.

The number one on the list has to be databits, DTB. The worst thing is that it is a great project but the team is not interacting much with the community and hence the price tanked.

Peercoin - The coin is one of the oldest coins available but it does not get the recognition it deserves.  I think it was the first coin with POS.  I do think its day will come, just not anytime soon.

Equitrader, Safe Exchange Coin and SOMA. The first two projects are kinda shitty coins, but I invested a few amount to both of them... It turned out that they are just like a roller-coaster so I didn't make any profit by hodling them.

I do agree with what you said about Safex since I invested a small amount into this and was disappointed by the performance of this coin in both the short term and long term. Did not expect this at all and expected small profits in the long term at the very least, but ended up losing my money. Another coin which disappointed me was Funfair which looked like it might return x10 profits in the long term, but ended up returning no profit at all which was surprising. These 2 coins were the only coins that disappointed me in recent times.

TRON and Ripple these 2 coins is very disappointing, i thought holding this will give a nice future, though it turned wrong as these coins are just making noise for the pump and dump and no consistency. i think the developer is just bagging some money with these.

I'm disappointed in PowerLedger (POWR). Thank god I haven't invested much in it but since I bought it I have never seen my portfolio in green. Another coin I'm kinda disappointed in is NULS, same story as POWR.

Oyster PRL is actually showing me some profit as I bought in at € 0,40. I have high hopes for Cardano also which I bought at €0,30.

I'm also reading up on Kucoin shares as I use this exchange quite often to buy DeepOnion, PRL and Snovio. Getting a discount on fees and also receiving a bit of dividend sounds interesting but I have to investgate further, especially since I'm reading quite a number of threads of people that are disappointed with it.

Slow day-long transaction, high transaction fees, hard to buy, crazy volatility, unable to get coin minted without investing $100,000 in hardware and pool with whales who steal 50% of your reward share, so many scammers, and that shitty Kill-Your-Customer regulation which shamelessly steal your identity if you buy from any seller.

The one that I got scammed on, that disappoints harder than any of the under achieving coins I have. Stings bad to get scammed but that is a good thing I believe, makes us stronger and better so we don't get scammed again.

Biggest underachievers though to date include for me MGO, TenX, and ETC. However, I do think they will all be profitable for me when said and done. It isn't a loss if you haven't booked it yet right? ;)

Monero Gold (XMRG) - I bought a lot of XMRG at the price of approximately 800 sats. But after a few hours their price fluctuates up to 2 digits satoshis. Now their Whitepaper and Website is unaccessible. It just really pisses me of as I invest a lot of pennies there. The good things is that they attracted investors becasue they are now listed at coinmarketcap.

Gifto - This is one coin which i am little disappointed with the price i paid for. Its fairly ok but can do much better
I have not experienced that much number of coins which are there in the world of digital currencies but one thing is for sure and that is there are certain coins which you can term as shitty coins and it is not at all a good idea to invest your money into such kind of coins. This is the reason why it is said that you need to study well before buying any of the coin so that you may not lose your money.

INS Ecosystem so far. I know it is really early, but the hype before the ICO and during the ICO was very big and I expected growth in price on the exchanges.
Probably they need some time in order to deliver some developments.

The coin that disappointed me was airtoken because they promised that after releasing their token there would be exchanges but it took very long time after exchanging them. They also said that they have a working product but as of now it is still ongoing.

I was disappointed with SNIP. I think that the token after the completion of the ICO will begin to grow rapidly as the project was perspective, but it never happened

Does BitConnect count? ;D

I didn't invest, fortunately, but seeing so many people scammed is of course never a good thing.

I've got a bit disappointed by Bancor. I was sure it would rise and it went the opposite direction. And it never really recovered. Until now.

I am too disappointed by Bitcoin, not because it didn't rise 100X (i have never expected that) but because as soon as people started to move it the fees have skyrocket, which means all problems of salability are still there and it is basically an useless coin for the moment, if you pretend to use it as a coin.

Oyster PRL - it kicked in last year to a stable increase, reaching almost $2 within 6 months since it was launched. Now it is just amounting to $0.07. Such a disappointment considering that the potential for the market was great. Done devs said that the  do was brought about by some guys spreading FUD. Some collateral damage was being taken care of, let's see what goes on from here.

WRC (Worldcore). It was supposed to dominate the crypto fiat conversion / payments business, and WRC was expected to reach 1 USD within a few months, it's almost convering to 1 cent now, multitudes lower than ICO price. Management went into hybernation mode with the bear markets, they need to fix their game asap.

Etheroll is one that really disappointed me. I thought gambling was a guaranteed winner, but transaction fees and variance have made it a dud. Also, I had some Centra that collapsed after the arrests of the founders, though fortunately I was able to sell before it totally collapsed.

This one really is disappointing. I really have high hopes for Oyster PRL and eyeing n its development, but recent development wasn't impressive as it was before. Though, I'm still hopeful of that the coin will restore its former glory and grow more.

I have few token holdings that really disappointed me just like utn because it has very slow progress. I don't hold much though but since my holding is not from airdrop or bounty reward because I bought it of course I anticipated that it would give me good gain. Hopefully soon..

I try not to think of the cryptocurrencies that disappoint me but think of the ones that brought me profits.  Don't waste your time with disappointments but learn from it and try to prevent a similar situation from happening again.   :)

The coin that painful disappointed me so much is Beetoken, there was so much hype about the coin during the ICO. I keep sleepless night just to get on to their whitelist and ICO. What do I get in return? So disappointed. I bought the coin at 2cent plus but today the price is four to fives times lower the ICO price. The worst thing is that they have not entered exchanges, they released it on etherdelta. So disappointed with the coin, the project and the team.

Pos token good project with great concept now dev left the project. It had potentiality but once they introduce lending platform after disappeared.

I had to trade on Bitcoin only,
Bitcoin once disappointed me when I had to buy it at 17k USD, and now it's 7k USD
but at the end of 2017 yesterday, I had bought BTC at a price of 4000 USD, and that's the biggest profit I ever got

One of my most disappointments was in Trade token. Although i was still a novice at the time i invested into it, yet i was so confident that the project was going to do greatly well on exchange because the ICO succeeded tremendously. Instead of an increase, it was a different story. Although, i am hoping it will still rise.
Another one was Electroneun. We all know about this coin. It really disappointed many of its investors. Although some got their profit.

MGO (MobileGo) this is my worst investment, and so far I have not seen a good development of this project.

DRT (Domraider) my second worst investment, very bad development.

Sometimes good marketing and good developer not guarantee the success of a project.

CTX (car taxi) i invest in their ico. I think they will be a successful project. But no. After ico this coin into market but the price very low under the price of ico. Dev does not develop their project. They just collect the money after that they leave it.

I think there is still hope for etheroll, it’s completely at the mercy of the eth network. I still have a decent sized back, the problem is once Sharding comes out it will have lost any first more advantage.

If ever a project needed a community manager it’s dice

The current situation is that the market has been falling and all kinds of currencies are falling. So I just invested in new high-quality projects because they have not been hyped. There is still room for them. As for old projects, they can only continue to pay attention instead of buying in large quantities.
