Why would you want litecoin? because it gives you access to the btc-e exchange. That is why I mine litecoin and not bitcoin. I can switch my LTC for BTC and a greatly reduced rate then I can sell the btc and capture the spread between btc-e price which is almost always dirt cheap and bitstamp or mt gox when people still used gox pricing. I been buying and selling for paypal for the last year. They dont give a shit, I have told them myself at least a dozen times. I dont even have to explain what it is at this point they know what bitcoin is and have even advised me how to handle and avoid charge backs.
