Title: Speed up Afterburner Startup?
Post by: WaveRiderx on February 10, 2018, 07:39:10 PM
Anyway to speed up afterburner startup in win10?  I want to put the mining program in the startup folders but can't because afterbuner starts up some 30-60 seconds later and can't have 8 GPUs firing away at 100% power during that time.  Yes everything is on SSD.

Thanks

what about cpu and ram? hmm that also affect loading performance

id assume your prolly using a Celeron cpu and 4gb ram

You need to delay the start up of the mining program. You can use the timeout /t 60 in the bat file to start the miner 60 seconds later.

Celeron vs i7 8700's doesn't help in this situation as I've got both in various rigs, with 8GB ram.  Afterburner still starts slow, almost like there is a built in timer.  I haven't tested if it's any faster on the i7 rigs though, just that it's still slower than that bat file.  Moving up the ram any further won't make a difference as it still lags a bit on my main rig with 32GB of RAM.

You need to delay the start up of the mining program. You can use the timeout /t 60 in the bat file to start the miner 60 seconds later.

Perfect, thanks!

msi afterburner pools  every gpu and the cpu for info.

so 10 gpus = about 100 pieces of info each time it polls.

It is set to poll  every 1000 milliseconds = 1 sec = 60x 1 minute.

set it to 9000 or 9 seconds = 7 times a minute it will help lag

it is under settings monitoring section.

Ahh that makes much more sense, thanks

Open your Start Menu and enter 'Task Scheduler'

You can configure all kinds of stuff there, like for example making your miners start 1 minute after login.

Do you have experience using Afterburner with 10 gpus?
