Title: Where can you spend Bitcoins on Gold or Silver?
Post by: FinShaggy on September 11, 2013, 02:49:01 AM
I don't have enough BTC yet, but I would like to know for the future.

And, does anyone know where to buy a custom coin press for extremely small coins?

As always, buyer beware - consider using escrow if you aren't doing the trade locally.

GoldSilverBitcoin will do escrow for gold, silver and bitcoin. Email me at justin@goldsilverbitcoin.com to discuss. P2P is best. We also have a P2P exchange that is small, but there are a few posters. We welcome as many as possible....obviously.

What do you mean by loose silver? Junk silver, maybe? All of the main btc-metals dealers do such a thing, from GSBTC, Amagi, Agora and AK coins. Each dealers offers a different experience and options.

I would look for someone in your area via LocalBTC or our P2P page who would make such a deal.

I just mean like, I'm not looking to buy coins for $30+/oz, I'd rather buy silver chunks, or clean bars (no images), or just round pieces, or even sheets.

For silver granulate you can look for an industrial supplier they might have sheets or other forms of silver as well. However the ammount that you have to buy might be huge. Broken jewelry might be the way to go for "pieces" allthough they wouldnt be round.  .999 coins and jewelry always have a premium thats just how it is.

Are there any companies with a section like that for bitcoiners?

They might have something you're interested in. If they don't accept BTC, then forget it, obviously. A lot of the dealers here are not making $30 on the coins they sale. The prices are pretty competitive in the BTC space. One of the big issues, to be sure, is that BitPay doesn't work in 1% profit industries, like bullion, as well as industries with more margin.

If you are talking bulk, then GSB would be able to help you at the sort of premium you're after in the form of shot, but it is super weird ; ). if I were you, I would start accumulating junk silver, preferably in great condition. This is just my personal opinion. It's not investment advice. It is just my personal preference. This is not investment advice.

I would "accumulate junk silver" if I could, but I am a 21 year old who is stricken with poverty, and my only means of income is coins. I don't just have silver laying around, or the money to buy silver from my friends.

If you meant something else, please explain a little more because I don't know any other way to get silver.

How bulk is bulk? And ya'll do bitcoins right?
All I'm trying to do is melt it down into my own rounds and other shapes. I won't have the coins for it for about a month, but I would defintely be interested in bulk as long as it is silver and not a bunch of alloy.

Have you considered buying the British Sovereigns Or Francs? Even the 1/10th coins are a better option than the 1 gram bars when you take into account what you are paying over spot.

For the 1 gram bar you can expect to pay close to 30% over spot! Which you will not get back on the sale so you have to wait for gold to move that much before you break even.

The 1/10th eagle (https://agoracommodities.com/product/110-oz-gold-american-eagle/) (3.1g) is around 15% over spot.
The British Sov (https://agoracommodities.com/product/british-sovereign/) (7.32g) is 9% over spot.
The Franc (https://agoracommodities.com/product/swissfrench-20-franc/) (5.8g) is also 9% over.

This is why we don't sell the 1 gram products. We respect are customers too much to do it  ;)

https://agoracommodities.com. I have nothing but good feedback for them.

Thanks Amaze! We are happy we have earned your trust and confidence!
